Poured first cup of coffee. 53° with rain this morning. Heading to 57° with more rain. Only sprinkles of rain yesterday. But overnight we have gotten 1.19". With another 1" forecast. Along with warm temperatures that should do all the 5' piles of snow in. Not much planned for today. I have about 30 Audio Books that I have collected and not heard over the years. Listened to one yesterday. Will start another one today. With a set of Bluetooth headphones I can wander all around the house and not loose signal. Have no idea why it has taken me so long to start using them.

Prayers for all those in need.

Good Morning All.

39F now mid 50's for high with on/off rain.
Going to be nice noticing snow banks melting and ice disappearing, finger cross for those living in areas known for ice jams.

Day off from work, just plan feel under the weather and little to none sleep last night.

Enjoy the day all.

put my shorts on today for the first time, but when I want to cool off, there are now some wonderful live street cams far up North. Well ok, Laramie isn't that far North but it sure looks cold there right now.

I bet some of you have been here too.
Quite a few Canadian street cams, resort oriented mostly

59 and very foggy out. Waiting for sun to come up to go water, and I have lots to do. Rains here have not been heavy, lot of little stuff, so watering continues. Water wagon continues to work fine, I get about three barrels of water to a charge and that's usually when my energy runs out also. The battery and I seem to be in synch....we're both mature.

Right elbow/ulnar nerve screaming this morning, it's the hand raking of the potatoes that does me in. Something about that motion.
So no raking today. Back brace, neck brace and wrist brace on. Like the Michelin Man, I'm ready for work.
Temp just hit 60, c'mon sun...

30 going to a high of 45 with freezing rain. Wind ENE 14 gusting 23 mph.

We got about an inch of white stuff overnight. I will go out in daylight and check things out and plow.
That is all that is planned for today. I do have to make a town run and will get to that after I plow.

Stay safe everyone

Prayers for everyone. Ed

Drew, I don't think it has much to do with how far north Laramie is. It's the elevation, 7,200 feet.
When we were in Mesa, AZ. in 70° weather it would be snowing in Flagstaff, AZ. 6,900 feet. 150 miles away.

54 headed to 74 after the clouds/fog burn off.

Soggy here, so no tractor time, so will go to the gym. Then may cut and split remaining pile of firewood, then sharpen chains. Still need ground to dry so I can dig a few post holes to plant posts for new bluebird houses. Digging is easier, but tamping would be too muddy right now.

Randy, congrats on new building. Would love to see some building pix and progress pix on electrical, if you have time.

Just happened to see that one of our favorite bands, the Derailers are playing at the Bastrop Opera House, which took me to the town website...cool looking place, I believe near Don.

Just one pic, gotta pull the shutters and paint them black, but I saved nearly $800, so I can afford a can of paint. LOL Garage door is on right end, still have to underpin and all that jazz. I’ll get done more pics later. 12x24, not as big as original steel building plan, but that was another world.

Low 40F's and fog here this morning. Fog is starting to breakup and lift. The sun is starting to break through the mixed level clouds. It should hit ~60F today high 60F's tomorrow. And then a possible mixed precip event Thursday ending in rain and a wet weekend. Looks like the ice/snow around here will be mostly history by the end of the week.

If it dries up enough I will be messing with firewood today. This will keep me "stockpiled" with the "small" stuff. Winter is not over around here until mid - late April. Only +38" of snow this year; we are "underperforming" from the norm.

I plan to roast a boneless (1/2)leg of lamb in the Big Green Egg tonight + rosemary encrusted baked potatoes. I really need to trim our transplanted now indoor rosemary bush. The oregano that we transplanted did not make it. After tonight the BGE's inner ceramic shell needs some furnace cement to fill some cracks. I can not complain about the repair. I have only replaced the charcoal grate in the BGE's +25 years of regular use.

Randy- That's a nice looking shed. I hope that you fill it up quickly and get many years of use from it.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for all.

Long ago, we spent the month of January, 1990, in Tucson, AZ, beautiful weather, did a lot of sight seeing in shirt sleeves, played a lot of shuffleboard since the Voyager RV Park had the best courts and equipment I've ever seen. And on January 12, we drove up Mt. Lemon, ate lunch in the ski lodge restaurant, watched the skiers, threw snowballs at each other in the parking lot:laughing:, then went back down to Tucson and played shuffleboard in shirt sleeves that afternoon.

Then we spent February, 1990, in Phoenix; still very nice weather. On February 5, we decided to drive up to Flagstaff and maybe on to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. But the further we went up the highway, the worse the snow and road conditions became, and Margaret kept wanting to turn around and go back. When we came to a Jeep that had slid off the highway and turned over about 30 miles south of Flagstaff, I let Margaret win. Never did get to the south rim.

It got down to +1*, yesterday was overcast with light snow for most of the day. Looks like today is going to be overcast with a high in the teens and a light breeze. The next few days are going to be cold with below 0 temperature over night.

Got most of the snow moved yesterday. Just need go out and finish it off.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

67°F and rain this morning, going up to 71° today. Radar shows it will probably rain here all day. We'll take it. Unfortunately, the bottom is supposed to fall out again tonight, with temps in the 30s tomorrow. Hoping all that rain doesn't freeze up on us.

We spent a week in the Grand Canyon area back in 2011. We stayed in Flagstaff and drove to The Canyon and other sites every day. It was the first week of June, and it was in the upper 20s and lower 30s every morning when we got up. There was still snow at the top of Mount Elden. By afternoon, it would be around 80° at the South Rim. The 50-60° swing in temperatures every day was quite different for us. We also hiked around Sunset Crater Volcano one day, walked through some ancient Hopi ruins, visited Meteor Crater, and yes ... we even took pictures "standin' on the corner in Winslow Arizona." We really enjoyed our visit there.

came in to call the fuel oil folks, no joy at the diesel tank.
$2.29 for farm diesel. 200 gallons, pickup is too high so 50 gallons sits in there.
I should manually pump it out...

got everything watered with the water wagon this morning as the fog burned off and the sun came out.
Now to work on getting water to the garden. 1.5hp sprinkler pump just arrived, putting that inline with the new underground
line to the garden.

Freezing rain has arrived! It actually got here about 8:30. I am going out now to deal with it.

PJS- Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing.

We have never been out West (yet). There is so much to see and so many places to go that it is actually easier to plan traveling in CR. We really should travel around and see it before one of those caldera's blows.

We've never been to CA either.

I was last at the canyon in 1972, I suppose it still looks similar. Flip Wilson was at the rest stop on the south side, we joked about being related.

Back around 1980, while attending college in Phoenix, a bunch of us went to Tucson for party at the college, then went skiing up at Mt Lemon. I had never skied before so I learned to ski that day. I did very well and only stayed on "bunny hill" for a few runs. We had a blast, had a nice break from school and work and no one was killed.
