The only people that don't make mistakes are the people that don't do anything.
Good morning all. A much warmer day today, 30 going up into 60's. Good outside day. Not sure if the Super A will show up, I think so..., but otherwise I have blades to sharpen on two riding mowers to keep me busy. Hopefully one of the last times I have to crawl under a deck because the new Kubota mower has a flip up deck to make that part easier.

And I have a little body work to do, sigh. Not on me, though this body could sure use some work.
Seems to be time to fess up, like the cherry tree....
Well, you see, when you turn the tractor too tightly when pulling a drag harrow one can, if one has substantial talent,
wrap the pull cable on the grippy knobs of the rear tire, which picks the harrow up and proceeds to try to deposit it on the driver's seat.

Saw that in time, started making lots of tink tink tink noise as it dragged across the lift arms. I immediately stopped, no damage to the lift arms, no damage anywhere, yeah, I lucked out. Oh, no I didn't.... chains gave the underside of the left wheel housing a good whack and bent back the edges about half an inch, and yeah took a small amount of orange paint off.

Groan, my first big/little dent in five years. Operator error, as usual. Good thing I just finished paying for it...
So I guess I'll be doing a little vice grip work, a little sanding, masking tape, and painting.
This tractor was named after my late wife and I had to look at the dent and say sorry honey....

I was not visited by chastising ghosts so I guess I'm ok. Particularly ghosts coming out of a super duper double blood moon....:D

Ed, actually I picked this tractor for you...it's not a Massey 255, but it did have about the longest engine I've seen on a tractor...a 1962 Massey Ferguson 97

Thanks I would sure enjoy driving it in the fields, if I had any.

Drew, Little family history, My grandfather bought a Farmall A with plow, cultivators, manure spreader and disc for $900. Don't know the year but he died in 58. Ed

Ed, those little tractors sure have appreciated.

Lot of seat time today. First I disc'd everything, including the adjacent farmer's field per request.
Then I decided the potato plow would work both for planting as well as harvest. Probably how it got it's name...aka middlebuster.
And it did fine, my rows were acceptably straight considering the Coriolis effect and the lunar pull.
Little Massey tied up with bush hog so used larger Massey which was really too big for this little plow. But it worked.
Tomorrow if it rains I'll be in the garage cutting up New Brunswick taters for planting.

I also worked in the veggie garden, spent about an hour raking the hills to look nice. My right arm is crying the blues.
Thankfully the soil is so soft it really doesn't take much to move around. Used up balance of several seeds by the oldest method possible.
Take a stick and make a row, sprinkle in the row, cover. Onions I'll have to thin, lettuce should be fine.

The 49hp Massey just soldiered on today, off came the discs, then on came the furrower, it never shut off, and like a faithful horse it kept plugging away.
I finally got some gumption and got it going in first high with the disc harrow. Tried to get a little action with the soil, but still a bit damp and lumpy.
Got done faster... the last guy who farmed this went so fast i thought he was pursued by bees or something...:D

Lastly, I hooked up the rototiller to the Gravely and went over and made a fine fluffy seedbed for my farmer neighbor for his own garden.
Quite the view, it's that pile of left over greenhouse plastic my other neighbor and I got him to promise not to light off. He really was about to.
And over to the left is the true garden of earthly delights, my neighbor's junkyard aka storage area. That part goes on for quite a ways.

The guy at the car rental agency In CR never saw the bottom panel dinger through all the dirt. He was too busy flirting with my wife. She's more than capable of handling these situations. :)

Wngsprd- Great pictures. I have had a great ime following your pictures; actually all the posted pictures here. Thanks for sharing. :D. That grader might not work that well on the snow here, but it would work great at maintaining my gravel driveway.

I am fascinated with all battle tanks of any vintage. Any pictues would be greatly appreciated. Tankers were/are a special breed of person..... Like submariners.

Back in the USA in Orlando International. Cusotms is converting to a paplerless Customs Declaration form. No passengers seemed to know how the new system worked, but we still got through in ~ 1 hour. It took a lot longer when I worked in the CR jungles and farms down here when I returned. I did learn how to milk a cow the old fashioned way at one point, but I still need to practice my aim.

Spending the night at a hotel at Bradley Internaional to take advantage of the reduced long term parking rates. We will not be arriving until ~ midnight. It's ~ 1.5 hour drive home from there.

It looks like a little snow tomorrow PM and then a return to rain and warmer weather up at JaysterAcres. I will let the guy I contracted to plow my driveway plow this pending event. He did not make much money while we were gone. I feel that I owe him this one just for keeping an eye on our place.

I am still in culture shock.

My + thoughts, prayers, and wishes for all.

Pura Vida.

Good evening to all, and good morning! Got home from work early....spent all afternoon in the emergency room then employee occupational medicine. New rookie took out my knee with the gurney going up a curb. Now out until I can get into orthopedic specialist next week. Hyperextended the knee and may have torn ligaments. Right now in pain and not happy. Worst of the whole situation is they won't prescribe any pain meds because of the nationwide abusers of narcotics. Oh well, that's what whiskey is for! (I very seldom have any alcohol so 1 shot usually puts me flat!):D They gave me a brace which helps a little.

Ed: take care of yourself and your family. Prayers sent!

Wing: thanks for the pics... Nice shades of green there for sure! Awsome museum.

Drew: I am gonna have to make a road trip to get a "sampler" crate of all your veggies! Lot of work there, looking really good.

Toppop: have strength my friend. I could not begin to even think of how hard it must be. Cherish the memories of the good times, cherish the memories of the bad times, nothing can take away memories.

Jay: thanks for all the beautiful pics of CR! Now I'm gonna have to get CR on the bucket list!

Thoughts, prayers, and well wishes out to all that need them!
