What are these "haircuts" of which you guys speak?

The "Big City" for us in any direction is 23 miles away. Our town has ~900 residents. Around here $16 for a haircut is a bargain. I only get sheared 4 - 5 times annually.

PJS- Nice ponytail in you avatar. I used to have one in the 60's - 70's. I cut it off when I started working in the "back wards" of the secure state psychiatric hospital. I'd look more like Benjamin Franklin if I grew one now.

If I go more than a week, it's just too uncomfortable; maybe I could get accustomed to it, but I doubt it.

Hair cuts for seniors at the local lounge. Are $15. I have a full head of hair that requires attention every 6 to 8 weeks. But push it out to 3 to 4 months. By then wife is making comments about Bozo should get a hair cut. Only consolation about going to get a hair cut is all the barbers are good looking young ladies.
Wife got a bill from dentist today. It was over $600. We have insurance. I’ll stick to 3 or 4 hair cuts a year.

Usta be I could get by with just dropping by the barber once a month and letting him have at the hair on my head.

These days, I have to get out the trimmers for the hair in my ears, eyebrows, and nose a couple times a month, and I can go two months before the stuff on my head needs attention...:confused2:

In it's heyday, the girl who used to cut my hair always tried to get me to come in every 6 weeks, to stay ahead of split ends. In reality, it was more like somewhere between 3 and 6 months. I had her cut it all off back in 1990 for a job ... about 3 feet worth. If I tilted my head back, I could sit on my hair. It was great hair, too. Healthy, shiny, thick, straight when I blow dried it, and curly when I didn't. Chicks loved it. After I cut it off, it was short for about three years before I started letting it grow again. Never was the same after that. Now, it just does whatever it wants most of the time, and it doesn't grow nearly as fast as it did when I was younger. It also damages easier, so I have to trim it more often.

Like RNG, my hair seems to have found other outlets as well. The stuff on my head appears to be sliding off the back, as my forehead is much taller than it used to be. Wife threatens me every once in awhile that if I ever start to look like Gallagher (the comedian), she's going to scalp me while I'm sleeping.

I have not seen any turkeys here since Fall.

4 Toms just showed up at the bird feeders. The beards were between 4" and one was ~10" maybe longer.

Last year we had a steady flock of 43 hens and jakes and a separate flock of 8 toms until "Spring":wink:

The most we ever counted at one time were 91 (hens/jakes) who trooped up our driveway in single file. Wifey did the counting; I become "counting challenged" around 22 or 23. :embarrassed:

I too am finding hair sprouting where it did not use to sprout. I can relate to the RNG experience.

I am not a slave to personal grooming nor fashion, but when the wife starts the "peanut gallery" talk. I get it cut.

I was going to this "Beautiful People" Boutique place for awhile. I do not know why I was allowed entrance. One would get a non-alcoholic beverage of choice and a cookie in the waiting room. Before they started cutting one would sit in one of those reclining massaging chairs and get a wash and a scalp massage. Eye candy was everywhere; the stylists and the patrons. Too bad I had to remove my glasses :( It was a "little more" expensive than $16.

Im behind reading. Will catch up later.

Our local sheetz also rebuilt bigger, added food drivethru and car wash.
Rumor of a rutters gas station going in got the town up in arms, they dont want it but said nothing about the sheetz expansion. Makes no sense.

Looking at a verizon only cell phone repeater for the house. $135 on amazon. The Wilson one that does all LTE bands is $400. It would help my at&t mobley signal also..

Haven't been farther than the kitchen for a hair cut for almost 20 years. She has been telling me I need a hair cut for a couple weeks and I just keep putting it off. For years she cut mine and I cut hers. She has been going to a soo lon since we moved to the big city.

Buppies and all others with the creeping crud, prayers sent. Ed

Think my FIL got a haircut about every week.he went to barber, i think to get out of the house. he could do it himself with a number 2, he keeps it buzzed.

I have an attachment for my Norelco razor with which I do my eyebrows myself, and I do the nose myself, but my wife does my ears. Of course, now-a-days, I can do my own haircut because we just cut it all off that the shears will take off; just don't shave it then like some do. But even doing it once a week, when I walk outside, I can tell it's much cooler right after a haircut than it will feel a week later. I don't think I could stand the heat of having long hair, as some people prefer.

Don- That is a really nice picture of that turtle. Thanks for sharing it. My turtle pictures are poor quality, but are taken from a tippy kayak with an old digital point and shoot camera. I thought that it was a slider, but was not sure so I did some research. I think the turtle is a "red eared slider" also called a "terrapin" and the "elegant slider" and they are good eating. One of the few things that I have yet to eat.

I agree with Riptides as to the sun bleaching.

Bird is correct- they are commonly sold as pets.

One reason I keep the lower field mowed is to watch the turkeys do their territorial/dominance/breeding displays.

As usual learned something new about turtles. Most common turtle around my place are Snappers. You do not want to be grabbing one with your hands.

Thanks Ed feel ok for a little bit then terrible for an hour. Freezing then hot. Relatively cold today only made it to 40 cloudy and windy

$18.00 haircut for me every four weeks do not think a white pony tail would look good at all. Years and years ago brown but started turning when I was 17 but at least I still have all of it. Haven't gotten to the weed eater stage of removing hair growing in my ears yet

What a day, not what I had planned, but....I called the local rv place about selling my Jayco travel trailer and he said fine, but the Raleigh show was in two weeks and I need it in here immediately and blah blah. So...for the last five hours I have totally unloaded an rv and cleaned the inside. Thankfully the outside was clean enough. They charge 650 bucks to make ready and clean the rv, they are getting a bargain with mine, it's clean already, so I didn't feel guilty at all not washing it. Maybe I can negotiate that charge down a little... Ron knows how much work this is/was. All that stuff crammed in the compartments. And worse, I forgot a coke in the fridge, it froze and exploded and leaked onto the kitchen floor. My bad and what a sticky mess and pain to clean up. Had to take all the fridge shelves out and wash them, but no loss other than my energy. Which is currently hovering around zero.

My local barber has been 15 bucks for awhile. I give him a 20 and he keeps the change. Others don't tip at all, or give him one dollar.
Tipping is almost mandatory up North, here not so much.

at this rate I'm not going to make it until 8pm. Too much OT.
