13 dogs and 3 cats have crossed the rainbow bridge here and I cried for each and every one of them. I truly hope to re-join my pack when the time comes.

Happy birthday Mrs Buppies.

Bird- I truly hope that you and your wife are able to fill the "void" created by your loss. Our pets give us so much and ask for so little in return.

Our search for another dog (or 2) will resume in a couple of weeks. It's been really lonely around here.

Slipping and sliding I made it to the tractor with my metric wrenches and sockets and discovered that the bolts that secure the seatbelt are SAE which necessitated another slippery round trip to get my SAE wrenches and sockets. With the correct tools the replacement went w/o slip nor incident. I almost considered getting out the YakTrax.

NWS has issue a Dense Fog Advisory in addition to the Winter Weather Advisory already issued. The temperature is hovering around freezing 32.7F presently so I'll be dealing with frizzle and "frog" tonight.

Made the trip to The Depot earlier rather than later, lockset exchanged and even remember to pick up the 60 grit sandpaper.

Installed the locket in the front door after we got back, then hauled the cat litter up to the compost pile. Ran the box blade over the road a little after that and leveled it out some ... too wet to really work it much.

Then I gathered up the cardboard and took it up to the shop to use to start fires and hauled the trash out to the street.

We unloaded the new cat tower after The Woman got back from DG, then she headed back out to the grocery store.

I just got done with moving all the jugs of water for the fish tanks off the island in the kitchen ... taking a break now because my hips were screaming.

Probably move the cat tower into the kitchen here in a couple minutes and start vacuuming it off.

Already let The Squeak out into the garage to check it out ... she was fascinated. Looks like it will be a hit.

Probably way easier than you might think! Most are not able to think for themselves.

Getting to the point that millennials think that we are obsolete and/or incapacitated we all rise like a Phoenix and........ Prove them wrong.

If the "millennial" is that bad it is because their parents (US) failed in parenting. All 4 of our children (all millennials) are gainfully employed college graduates, some Masters, one Doctor. And they definitely think for themselves.

Time to get the tractor to get unstuck

No, that is part of the "3 saw plan". Always work with at least two saws so you can use one to free the other. Even a little 14" saw can usually be used to get a big saw "unstuck".

Too many times I've used my Stihl 021 to free one of my Stihl 660's.

"......... If the "millennial" is that bad it is because their parents (US) failed in parenting."- Newbury

Congratulations to you and your wife on building a solid "foundation" for your successful millennial children. You two should be very proud...... Your children too. Too many people most not millennials believe they need a "handout" and "live" and "think" accordingly.:(

Any parent that can help keep their kids responsibly independent, free from chemical dependency, debt, and/or jail has my highest respects. I saw far, far too many examples of "mis-parenting," and it was not even income related. One can not buy longterm love unless they are really rich, but that does not meet my definition for love. I am sure there are people who disagree.

Rswyan- So you have the cat tower in the house, and "The Squeek," and soon to be 800G fishtanks filled with all kinds of neat stuff all in a semi-closed living space.

Life sure is interesting.

I disagree....I want some super rich people to adopt me as their over middle-aged son and drown me in money...I mean love. :) LOL

All kidding aside, you are right. Raising kids today is tough stuff. Dang cell phones and facebook and the like are big influences today. And it isn't as simple as just not letting them have it. You have to work hard at countering the influences. I have to say, I think it is harder than when I grew up.

Bird, sorry about your little friend passing.

Mrs Buppies, Happy Birthday!!

Don, that's what tractors are for.

Went to the Depot today and got some led bulbs for the old shop lights I had. Git the cheep ones that work with the balist. Tried two bulbs in 3 different fixtures and they never flickered. Put an old floresant bulb in and it worked fine, they go back.

Still praying for you guys. Ed

Bird, sorry about your dog.

Had a cat yrs ago that would lay around my neck.

Ed- I had one of those "energy audits" from our electric company. This (really nice guy) representative came to our house, did the audit, and replaced all our incandescent lights with LED/CFL alternatives and made sure that they worked. He also replaced all our mercury circuited thermostats with programmable or non mercury thermostats. He also gave us really decent "energy efficient" power strips. For once it was really "free."

"For once" I get something free from the electric company and here I sit with 44 snow free solar panels ready to start pushing juice into the power grid and I/We are waiting for them to hook us up. They really do make out on our anticipated electric production on any good "solar" day here. There are days recently that I think that we should have gone with storage batteries and kissed the grid goodbye..... but then there is SWMBO/CFO

Buppies Happy birthday to your wife hope she had a great day

Bird sorry for your loss, pets always bring something special to our life I believe that every dog I ever owned left me a little better of a person.

Yesterday was a nice sunny day and I was able to do a bit of work around the lake house sure wished I had my John Deere as I was shoveling mud so I could lay 24" X 24" cement tile in front of my door to keep mud out of the entry. My 2 yr old Shepherd got a new nick name "Mud Puppy" as he decided to supervise and laid in the biggest mud puddle he could find. Wife wasn't to happy when he ran in the new kitchen with tail wagging. O well I had a little mopping to do too, and of course he had that what's wrong look,

Bird, sorry for your loss. I prefer some of my dogs over some relatives. :)

Pretty nasty most of the day, a very light rain, mud everywhere. Didn't get much done. Gotta hit harder tomorrow !!

Bird, sorry for you loss.

I ended up using a pry bar to get the saw unstuck but used the tractor to move the trunk and to level the land. Pics before, after, and now an unobstructed view looking back the other way.IMG_1291.JPGIMG_1295.JPGIMG_1296.JPG

While working on moving the tree they afternoon I saw a very rare creature in the pond. A white as milk albino turtle. I'l take my zoom camera out the next few days and see if I can capture him on film. I tried to get a pick of him with my phone but he dashed off the shore and under water. He held his breath longer than my patience. Or maybe it was a ghost turtle.

I also was affected by the government shut down today while filling out the federal farm census that was sent to my Dad. He died last year and there were questions that could not be answered the way they were asked. When I called the help line they just had a recording that because of the government shutdown they are not there. So I just wrote deceased instead of checking the yes or no boxes and various other responses that were not standard on their 300 question form. Their fault. I included my phone number and will answer, maybe.
