Time to get the tractor to get unstuck

Thank goodness for tractors! Someday I'll learn to notch the top and cut up from the bottom when working on trees that are supported on both ends. Even then, though, sometimes the bar still gets stuck. Might as well just get the tractor out to begin with and use it to position the tree so one end is free and avoid the problem right from the git.

RNG- Davis weather instruments are really expensive. I was really happy with my DavisPro until the logger started to fail. Tech support was less than helpful = Oregon personal weather station. This unit is starting to fail now as well = new PWS research. Davis really PO'd me, but it will not prevent me from purchasing another.

My theory is that not enough PWSs are being sold to take advantage of the kind of electronics fab technologies that are robust enough to stand up to the demands of outside locations. And hand work like what failed on my station is expensive and hard to do consistently, especially when the tendency is to offshore it or underpay domestic workers who might not be so concerned with the quality of their work. I've had spotty luck with Davis' tech support. Good when it's just trying to get me to understand the so called "instructions" they publish. Not so good when there's an actual problem with the station hardware. Replacement parts are expensive, and more often than not they want you to send the thing back to them and charge almost as much as a new one to fix it. That's what drove my "upgrade" from a VantageVue to the Vantage Pro. Before that, I used Oregon Scientific instruments with a cobbled together monitoring system that was too much work to maintain and didn't integrate with Weather Underground. At this point, I think Davis is probably the best of what's out there, but what's out there overall isn't very good. Unless, of course, you step up your game to the professional stuff, but you could spend as much as on a new car for some of that stuff.:2cents:

55F and cloudy with the sun trying to peek through @ 12:00 ... high today is supposed to hit 57F with 50% chance of rain.

Got about 5 - 6 hours worth of sanding done yesterday, switched over to 60 grit (was using 100) ... seems to be going a little faster now ...

Have to unload the new cat tower out of the van and bring it inside, take trash out to the road, and take cat litter out to the woods.

Possibly do a little driveway repair. And mebbe a trip over to The Depot later.

Einthewoods- Nice job. It looks professionally done; no "scribe marks". Drilling plastic especially a curved surface is pretty difficult. Did you use tape? Lately for plastic I have been using an old soldering pen to melt holes instead of drilling. It works for small holes really well.

You know, it went a lot easier than I expected. I used an awl to make a divot and then did a 1/8" pilot hole. Finished with the 1/2" and just went slow throughout.

I'll get back to it at some point this week and send some final pics.

I got my old sewing machine going, it’s been down since July. Not working perfect but I just wanted to sew some welt to staple on for a little project, so all it needs to do is stay together until I get the staple gun to it. First real work I’ve done in three months. Good therapy.

I never thought I'd shed any tears over the loss of a dog . . . . but I was wrong. I figure our Chihuahua was just about the best dog in the world, and the reason I say that is because she NEVER growled, snarled at, or bit anyone. It made no difference to her about your race, ***, or age, she just wanted to be friends. She could bark AND LOUD if she saw or heard anyone around our house, but it was just to get attention, not to fight. She turned 12 years old last November, and her kidney failure convinced me to end her suffering this morning. She went peacefully in my arms at the vet's office, but yes, my wife and I both shed some tears.



When she was a little one, this is where she liked to nap.
