Randy- The MA CONUS seems to benefit more than NE CONUS with this system especially in western MA. The euro was bouncing around on earlier runs now it seems to be strengthening again. The Euro, UKmet, Navgem, and I think the NAM are reflecting similar outcomes now. The euro has been the most reliable historically. The NAM is decent w/i 72 hours nowadays. I read on a weather thread that the NAM got tweaked recently. The NAM, Canadian/UKMet, Japanese, and Navegem did pretty well modeling that last system if I understand what real weather geeks and weather brainiacs were discussing.

I am still hoping this system helps churn up the potential late week event.

I have had 27.5" of accumulated snow so far this year. I never really tracked it, but I think a of of the snowfall here is from lake effect snow plumes from Lakes Ontario and Erie that survive the +600 mile wind transport and drop 1" - 2" here. It amazes me it makes it this far. They used to call this area "The Snow Basin." I am assuming because of this area's location to the lakes and geography (Berkshire Hills' (upslope/downslope elevation stuff).

Thanks for posting that photo of the pot belly stove, LS. It brings back fond childhood memories from when my dad would take me trap shooting in the wintertime. They had a rough shack there with one of those stoves in it, and once in a while they'd let me put a lump or two of coal in it. It always had a pot of coffee going on top of it, and if I behaved myself, I'd get a taste along with a donut.:cloud9: I was too young to shoot, and the club closed before I got old enough.

I did find a place with "real" restored / rejeuvinated stoves.... Anywhere from $3500 to $5000 .... Crazy! These reproductions run about $800-900, got a "holiday sale" for $450 w/ free shipping. Could'nt beat it. I remember my grandma's stove and always being warned to 'stay away from that'. Funny how old memories can flood back. I remember coming out of the coal shoot covered in black coal dust... Those sure were fun times!

16F and mostly sunny @ 15:00 ...

Got quite a bit done yesterday ... and I can feel the repeated trips up and down the stairs today ... :D

Plan on an early dinner with the nephew and his wife at a local Mexican restaurant that is supposed to be very good.

Other than that, no real plans ... though I'll probably work on fish room stuff after we get back.

Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable day.

I drank too much coffee, fed the wood stove, digested the weather "news" and told the world about it :embarrassed:, replaced the whole house water filter w/o incident (It was nasty looking.), fed the wood stove and will again and again. Now I am laying like an old dog in front of the wood stove; enjoying the warmth; and blankly staring at the wood stove flames looking like some cow in a milking station with professional football blather in the background. I am cooking stuffed boneless pork chops tonight. I prepped them up yesterday and put them in a brine bath. Wifey made cornbread the other day; the remains will become the stuffing.

I just look outside for the weather. The weather guessers change all the time.

Took the other medication, so far no reaction. Didnt react to the other one last night, so it's either the combination, or it had nothing to do with the meds and was coincidental.

It would probably help my mental status if I just focused on cloud patterns and wind shifts which are really predictive of pending weather.

A lot of individuals around here whose livelihood depend on climate/weather can read weather better than most ProMets; better than I with all my maps. I have been seriously impressed with their "gifts."

I am happy to read that you have had no new reactions. I hope that you get it figured out. Have you thought about the foods that you have been eating?

Have you tried taking one in the morning and other one in the evening?

Good morning all, 17 degrees this morning, up to 56 this afternoon. Going to take advantage of the temp and change the oil in the vehicles. The chance of snow / precipitation this past Weds. night was a bust. Had a couple drops on the windshield but that was it. New forecast calls for temps to drop into the 30's for highs, maybe snow showers.... I sure wish for any precipitation. The Mrs not doing well this morning.. Severe pain, arthritis /RA flare up.
Rip tides: Glad to hear you and the Mrs got home and maybe turning a corner in the journey.
BEF: Be careful, as others stated, allergic reactions can come back w/ a vengeance the 2nd or 3rd time around.
All the others needing prayers, sent a double batch out to you this morning!

There was a brief discussion on "coal burners" a few posts back. We just bought a reproduction "caboose stove" brand new for the new cottage I'll be building soon. It will be used as primary heat source for really cold days/nights, otherwise will be using a mini-split. The cottage is designed as an early 1900's farmhouse. When the wife first mentioned about the stove, I asked "where the h**l are we gonna get coal? Well I guess I took her to TSC too many times. That's where! She said. Low and behold... 50# bags ordered right to the store. Apparently they are very uniform in heat output and easy to keep going. Learned something. Also the price of the stove was a quarter of any of the pellet stoves we were looking at! I forgot to get a pic of the stove so I'll post that shortly.

Has your wife tried Xeljanz for her RA? My wife was recently started on it and it has been a game changer for her.

Your welcome. This is like the emersion blender we use for garlic mashed potatoes in the INSTANT POT.
Amazon.com: Cuisinart CSB-75BC Smart Stick 2 Watt 2 Speed Hand Blender, Brushed Chrome: Electric Hand Blenders: Kitchen & Dining

Thank you very much, Don! I ended up with this one from Breville. It just so happened that Consumer Reports reviewed them last month, and this one got a top rating. I was amazed at how easy it worked it's way through the single microwaved spud I fed it. Or how good that potato tasted with just a clove of fresh garlic blended in.

Got any more favorite recipes?

The town of "Madrid, NM" is now a real artsy and strange collaboration of shops, all in the old coal company houses. There is a museum, vaudeville theater, and the " Mine Shaft Tavern" which has some of the best food around and live folk music. Google the town, pretty neat history. Maybe get some coal from there.

I spent a lot of time in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, and visited Madrid several times. "Strange collaboration" is putting it kindly. One part Native American, one part cowboy, one part Old Mexico, and about five parts Hippie. If NM ever legalizes marijuana, look for Madrid to really boom!

Speaking of weather, was glancing over at the weather/home control laptop and noticed one of the curves moving up to 70. I was getting excited before I looked closer and it was 70% humidity, not degrees. It's been a mix of fog and sun today, and you can really feel the temperature drop when the fog comes in.

Doesn't seem to bother the deer, though, as they've been very busy trying to keep the grass cut.

A big flock of blackbirds landed in back this morning, filling up the trees and brush and all over the yard. Then this afternoon the backyard was full of robins

Last time I came into Albuquerque from the West it was sleeting so hard that I literally lost AM reception and tuned in an FM station in my 68 Sport Fury until the sleet let up. That was Thanksgiving week 1972.

Dad, being a farmer, always watched the weather. I just check my phone app, which changes constantly.

No different foods either. Will see how my other med does later tonight.

Ooo I like that Breville. I like the container that comes with it, it could make some good pico de gallo. Might have to put that on my list. Those emersion stick blenders are great for thickening up soup also. Just don't use it too much or it turns to baby food.

Just before we headed out to dinner, the wife, looking out the kitchen window, commented on a deer browsing out on the perimeter of the west lawn. Actually there were two.

As we made the turn off the driveway a few minutes later, there were a dozen of them near the road at the edge of the property.

How they can survive this cold I have no idea.

El Jalapeno's was excellent, had the seafood enchiladas ... first time I've eaten there. The Woman has been raving about it for more than a year.

10F and partly cloudy ... a cat to right, a cat to the left, and a glass of Kahlua and cream ... life is good.

-3 this morning. Made it to 25 today. Currently 23. Snow showers moving in. Main clipper system supposed to be here mid morning tomorrow. Additional 2 inches forecast.

Last half of birds scheduled to leave tomorrow night. Talked to the guy in charge of the producers today. He says everything is still on schedule and they don’t plan to change it. He did say he was out today and liked my snow removal efforts, but was not impressed with the county.

So let’s hope that I will be empty tomorrow and can start decaking Tuesday. If I can get the decaker moved in here. I share one with my in laws.

Good evening all. 26F this morning, clear sky. light wind. Temp warmed to 51F, wind stayed moderate, and sky mostly clear. Chapel this morning, KP duty, lunch, nap, bike ride and prep stove for next week. Front comes through tomorrow morning, will get cold here for most of the week. Have been having trouble with keyboard last several days. Changed batteries, then moved dongle (wireless) seems to be behaving better tonight :)

Rip glad you are home, sounds like progress being made, prayers for that to continue.

Drew learned to fly in college, not active now, wanted to retire early, and too expensive to maintain proficiency levels.

Buckeye, sounds like you are getting a handle on your health, prayers for progress to continue.

Ed hope you are experiencing as much progress as it sounds, prayers for progress to continue.
