We both discussed my plans for the excess crop. Though doubtful our other neighbor will stay sober enough to make this work, my plans are to grow an acre of potatoes, have them coming out my ears, package them in three pound bags, and put up a sign saying FREE POTATOES!, with an arrow pointing to our farmer neighbor's lane. There he will be sitting, with his new folding chair and table I gave him for Christmas, and he can give away potatoes, and sell containers of veggies for two or three bucks a piece. Then he gets to keep half and I get the rest. Well, it's a plan anyway. I'll see what my reality is come April or May. Pretty sure much/most will go to Food Bank which is a prime goal also.

Going to be a new year soon. My goal this year is to manage my sugar intake better, get my lab readings down below 100, and, well,
find a lady who can tolerate me.

Well, you give a man lemons, he'll make lemonade. Give him potatoes, maybe he'll make vodka.

Only -9F heck of a lot compare to last 5 days,mid single numbers for high lows tonight around -18F.
Plans for today...inside until temp reaches -0F,putter watch little football,putter,doubt very much I'll ring in the New Year.

-22 here...high is supposed to be a nice toasty 2 degrees.

Up a bit late this morning...stayed up watching a couple Blue-Ray flicks....one was "Wind River", a crime story that takes place in modern day Wyoming...the other was a classic 50's sci-fi "THEM".

Wifey wants to go to the store...I want to get beer for the New Years. Since it's well below zero, I kind of doubt she goes, so I'll have a shopping list and I hope it's short!

Poured first cup of coffee. -1° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 14° with some sun. Not sure what I am going to do today. Couple of lathe projects setting on the bench in shop. Still need to cleanup snow on walkways and drive. New Years Eve is Crab Legs and Shrimp. Then get some sleep. Wake up to see New Year in. Maybe.
Talking about fish, I wonder how my garden pond fish are doing. Pond aeration pump is working but hole in ice has been frozen over for a week. The fish usually make it through the winter. But this is the longest I can remember it being frozen over. Looks like it will stay that way for another week or more.

Got a email from AZ yesterday. George Staerkel died while doing one of the shows at Silver Star Theater. He was a singer with the Tokens. Most will remember him from the song The Lion Sleeps Tonight. We attend shows at the theater many time over the years.

Have you looked at the “Tapatalk” app. I use my iPad to look at TBN about 95% of the time and TBN on TapaTalk works well for me.

Plus you can add other Forums you’re interested in too. It took me a while to figure out but, it a great app IMHO.

I used tapatalk before they put out the tbn app. I like tbn app better, i believe they had the tapatalk developers make it.

A low of 27* this morning, it got up to 42* yesterday. Today looks like it's going to be in the low 40's with sunny skies and a lite wind.

Quiet day here. Off to the co-op for a new battery for the horse trailer. Wanted to watch the 'Boys play, but Texans game is also a nooner, so the won't show it locally. Probably pre-emptive with a cheesy chick flick of infomercials. Wife will probably put on HGTV, to my dismay.

You have become addicted!

I too had that addiction.
As a teenager my Dad supported me with first one 10 gal, then a 20. I bred guppies at first. My budding addiction landed me a "part time" after school at one of the two petshop stores in Burlington, Vt. That was about when I was 16 and first got to drive. By the time I got to college I had taken over about 1/5 th of the basement with walls lined with fish tanks. A significant discount and salvaging leaking tanks fueled my addiction. That was when all tanks were metal frame, slate bottom, glass sides and putty. And since most of them were kept a 78* or higher I probably heated the house during the winter.

But college came along and I kicked that addiction about the time I started breeding and raising Discus AND gave up the job due to college. But I still have a 50, 29 and four 10's to set up in retirement. Be careful, tropical fish can be more expensive than tractors if you have to pay retail.

About 25 years ago I made an 80 gallon tank out of 3/4" plywood with a glass front. I painted the inside with pool paint. I trimmed and stained the outside and in my opinion it looked better than any store bought tank. I had a 10 inch Tiger Oscar that would come up for pellet food and try to take it out of your fingers. One day I had company over and was going to demonstrate Oscar's ability. I held the food about 6 inches above the water and he jumped clean out of the tank and onto the floor. He was uninjured luckily. The tank went into storage after a move and I never set it up again. I've always considered building another one with glass in the ends. A guy could router some cool viewing shapes. I really like the blue pool paint inside too.

It's warmed up to +1F here at 11 am. Down to minus 13 tonight and minus 18 tomorrow night. Guess I'll have to buy propane again before summer.
