Thanks for pic, Ron. Nice job.
one day closer to spring
now that's the right attitude! And you are probably knee deep in snow or soon to be...
floor tiles in shower a bit chilly this morning; 19 degrees going to 42. And surprisingly, warming up a bit Saturday before the
the real cold hits. 51 tomorrow and sunshine, can't waste that. Actually I'm going to wait until it warms up and then
go put the fertilizer spreader on the little Massey and make sure the pto shaft is the right size.
Pto shafts are my waterloo... I melted part of the yellow plastic cover on my nice Woodmaxx chipper pto shaft due to the shaft being slightly too long, built up heat right in the middle strangely. Luckily no damage
though I now make sure there is a little play in there before I crank it up. For sure don't want to mess up thrust bearing on tractor side or whatever bearing that isn't going to like
having the shaft jammed back into the tractor. Actually not good for either end of course. Chipper bearing pillow block pretty massive, but I doubt it was designed for
end thrust. Most importantly, I took out an adapter that was adding length. Problem is pick the chipper up too high and the pto shaft
comes apart without the adapter. Well, better alternative than a too tight pto shaft.
maybe we can get rid of all pto shafts and make them wireless.
Farmer, hope your chickens are staying warm.
