Has anyone inquired about the new test that started in 2014 called Cologuard. It's non-invasive and no special prep diet and catches the cancer the same effective rate as a colonoscopy.

My doctor has used similar test, after manual prostate check, for many years. He told me that colonoscopy is still needed. I’ve gotten one every 3-4 years since I turned 50.

Eye doctor went well, New glasses ordered from Walmart. Might have to investigate getting a backup pair from one of those online places. Any suggestions for bifocals.
I was going to buy from Zenni. But was not able to get anyone on the phone to answer a couple of questions I had.
When I used their mirror measuring. I came up with 97 mm for eye spacing. SamsClub came up with 95 mm. Got Sams Club glasses yesterday. The fit sight a perfect. At Sams you get the top of line Zeiss lenses. At Walmart they have 2 levels of lenses. When I got mine last week plus members got 20% off everything.
I checked out America’s Best. Their prices where as good as the online places. Not sure they are in HI.

How Effective Is Cologuard Colon Cancer Test?

I had that test before I was 50. Doctor gave you the kit. But I am not in the low risk group anymore. Family history of colon cancer. Means that I get a colonoscopy every 5 years. In 2000 they found polyp/s. Non malignant. None have been found since. So I am on the 5 year cycle.
If you have never had a colonoscopy. I would get one. Then if nothing is found you are on a 5 year cycle.

PJ, that is downright nice. I hope you get to spend plenty of time in there for keeping your blood pressure low.

I don't know what to say about the rust. Surface rust like that can start from a scant amount of dew and then when put up with the lid closed, it just sits there.

I have a similar problem in the machine shop I manage. The company sometimes turns off the HVAC over the weekend and Monday AM will have 75% humidity in the shop...I have so much rusty equipment and tooling now, it is pathetic. I try to keep up with it, but WD 40 doesn't last very long as a protectant.

Don, my Post #64283 answered your post #64284?

I must be a mind reader?

I had a computer hiccup and came back later and etc . . . double posted, otherwise I would be paying you money to read my future.

Ron, this is a different test, a DNA test not just a blood in stool test or a FIT test. It just came out a few years ago. My wife GP was telling her to take this test instead.

Web MD and other sites still urge you to get routine colonoscopy test as well.

We are a degree on the right side of freezing this morning,. With little wind it's looking a good day to be outside and forecast says I won't need a rain jacket. Until Wng mentioned it the other day I had forgotten how long I've had the "new" jacket that is now well on the way to becoming an old friend. It is still 100% waterproof, which is making me thankful that I paid a little extra for a Gortex liner instead of a cheaper water repellant membrane, though I suppose it is still early days and I haven't yet worn it when I'm playing with hawthorn.

PJ, I can't play any instruments. When I hear music, it is always an identical copy of what I heard the last time the recording got played. That still gives me a thrill, but I wonder how much more so it must be for someone like you, who can pick up a guitar and be able to play it as they feel on the day, instead of a note perfect copy. You are so fortunate in this and many other aspects of your life.

Drew, he put it in the case wet and dirty, then closed it. I, too, was surprised at the amount of rust from sitting for two days. It was still wet when I opened the case, as seen in the picture. Many of the bits were wet and rusting as well. We didn't raise him like this, and it's frustrating to no end to see him do this kind of stuff when we know that he knows better, yet does it anyway.

The Ballistol and a little elbow grease cleaned everything up pretty nicely.

I guess your step son is still at an age where he wants to kick off a little at the fact that his mom married someone else and that may well continue for as long as he sees that gets a reaction from you. Whatever the cause of things like rust on the drill, I would try and not make a big issue out of it. An invisible shoulder shrug and maybe a few notes on one of your guitars can probably help as much as the Ballistol ;)

If something he does gets you frustrated or angry, he probably thinks he won that round. If he discovers you are truly only sad, then one day he may appreciate nobody won.

Interesting, not sure I would be happy with it.
Have you read their disclaimer message?
Cologuard is not for everyone. Cologuard is not a replacement for diagnostic or surveillance colonoscopy in patients at high risk for colorectal cancer. Both false positives and false negatives do occur. In a clinical study of Cologuard, 13% of people without cancer or precancer tested positive. Any positive should be followed by a diagnostic colonoscopy. A negative Cologuard test result does not guarantee absence of cancer or advanced adenoma. Following a negative result, patients should continue participating in a screening program at an interval and with a method appropriate for the individual patient. Cologuard performance when used for repeat testing has not been evaluated or established. Cologuard results should be interpreted with caution for individuals over age 75 as the rate of false positive results increases with age. Patients should not provide a sample for Cologuard if they have diarrhea or if they have blood in their urine or stool (e.g., from bleeding hemorrhoids, bleeding cuts or wounds on their hands, rectal bleeding, or menstruation)

Good morning all. $0 this morning going to 50 with a 60% chance of rain today. Finished the cyclone/shop vac cart and setup and it works great. Cleaned up about a gallon of fine sanding wood dust and only about a table spoon of dust made it to the shop vac the rest stayed in the bucket under the cyclone where it is supposed to be. Don't know what I will do today, only time will tell. Talked to a contractor friend about putting a shower in the main bath instead of the tub that is there now. Boy is having a hard time getting in and out.

Randy, good to hear that you are following through with the test. Just got the test results back from Mom's yesterday, looked pretty good. Praying for you brother.

Have a great day all. Ed

Drinking first cup of coffee. 29° with mostly cloudy skies. Heading to 47° with some sun in morning. Then wind, rain and snow in afternoon. Arm is a little sore this morning from flu shot. Not much planned for today. Maybe watch wind blow more leaves off trees and into neighbors property. Did a little internet shopping yesterday. Ordered a Woodmaxx flail mower. FM-62H. Will not be deliver until spring.

Randy, glad you are out and doing things. Thoughts and prayers headed your way.

PJ, glad drill and tools cleaned up. But still frustrating when someone knows better. I like your room.

Good Morning All.

Been doing work on smart road recently in BBurg fascinating what they do. Test cars that go by radar, how cars and pedestrians react with each other test strips with varying thickness and types of asphalt and stone. The auto manufacturers use the test facility to test new cars etc. one of only two in the country I'm told
