Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #63,102
63°F and heavy fog this morning, going up to 86° today. Visibility was very poor for most of the drive into work. We got some decent rain here on Saturday. Not enough, but better than it has been.

Wife and I got a lot of painting done in the basement over the weekend. The painted and textured drywall looks much nicer than the old painted cinder block walls. Carpenter still has a couple of interior doors to set in place this week, then he's pretty much done. Once the painting is finished, the electrician can come back and finish up a few things with the lighting, then we're ready for flooring installation. We'll do all the trim work ourselves, then we're done, but for moving things back in place. Progress.

Eager to hear about the new Ruger rifle, Roy. I've been longing for some time for a bolt-action .223 rifle. Been considering the Ruger American and the Savage Axis. For the money, I really like the Savage rifles (have 2 rimfires), but that Ruger looks very well-made.

A fine day. Got my truck back with two new hydraulic valves put in under warranty, hopefully only "normal" hemi tick instead of abnormal.
And a suggestion by the dealership to please start my Ram regularly. Ok...

Then off to the Massey Dealer. After a bit of a rough patch where all of a sudden I find out the reason this tractor has a new dash is because
6 years ago the owner rolled it into his pond. About 3/4 under or so he says. Properly serviced and everything flushed and it has run fine
ever since. I'm getting them to flush everything again no matter what.

Front right wheel and axle off, neat to see the innards out on the table, lot of gears and big bearings in there. And all looked
just fine, no wear on the gear teeth that was visible. They are replacing a leaking front diff seal, which they not surprisingly had to order, so my timing was good
as i got to see it all apart. They were asking 5500 and the others I saw online, very few actually, the nicest was 4800. And it looked much nicer than this one does.
So I told him I'd offer the highest price of any other one out there, at least on the East Coast, 4800 dollars and he fixed that front seal on him.
He thought about it, I'm pretty sure he was in this five grand to his BIL, and he said he would do it.
I mean we just finished discussing how the unit had been submerged, which for many would be a walkaway deal, and he knew it.

In hindsight I should have gone back into the shop, where the unit was, and checked the trans oil, any oil check I could find, to see if there was any foam or evidence of water.
He said the only problem they had was one callback on the fuel tank, he guesses they just didn't get it all out the first time. So....little tractor comes with a history, but they had it out of the water the same day and in the shop, injectors out, etc etc. And he said they flushed all the fluids. Hope they did. Particularly the rear diff where there is sometimes a vent hole up top.
I've dealt with submerged boat diesels before, thankfully not mine, and I know if you do things "right" you can easily save these engines. Just as easily as you can wreck them if you start them with a belly full of water.

Hopefully I'll get my little Massey next week, and then I'm going to build one of these for it, to haul my plants around too. Built by a TBN member of course.
It goes almost all the way to the ground too...great for my back.
I'll alternate between the carry all and the ball hitch for the wagon.

73F and cloudy, rain has ended.

Got close to 2" total over the last couple of days which will help make up the shortage and give the compost pile a good wetting. We're still about 1 1/2" inches short however.

Working in the garage today while things dry out, putting up some new shelves and an overhead storage rack.

Good night all. Been a busy day but did not get much done. Just the normal stuff. Only got .50 in of rain but am thankful for every drop. Praying for Northern Cal. and RNG.

Have a good night all. Ed

Got new iPhone 7 plus’s today, spent time activating them, also switched to Xfinity mobile after25 years with Cell One and AT&T, but for $12 a GB and we use less than one most months since everything just about is WiFi and hotspots, why pay $80 plus when I can pay around $20?

Good morning, it was calm and warm last night, not dropping below 13C/55F, making it quite pleasant to be out after darkness - washing cement off tools.

You are right Ron, protection for the rope would be a good thing if I was to use it more, however despite the gizmo working with no back pain today, I will be happy if I don't move another 3 by 2 flagstone for the rest of my life. I only used that size because they were already here, waiting to be recycled from the old bull pen floor. Thought they would all be near enough identical, it was only when I came to lay them that I realised they were in two slightly different sizes :(

Good to see your transmission tool in action RNG. My wife has just walked past as I was opening your picture and for a moment she thought it was something I had taken and wanted to know where the towel had come from. Fortunately I was able to plead not guilty and keep a straight face - thank goodness you hadn't put it on a pillow

Good morning all, 66 this morning going to 77 with a 30% chance of showers. Hope to get a little more done on the pantry. It is busy enough around here that I get little done each day and need to keep after it. I am praying for the folks in Cal. Wow 10 dead and 100 reported missing, it must be crazy out there now. All is well here as Mom is getting settled and life is getting back to the new normal.

Have a great day. Ed

71 going 80. Still quite humid...maybe another shower today. Got a total of .5 inch and still seems dry.

Very impressive tool, RNG. I had to look up shot peen. Hope the fires stay away from you.

Farmer, I read about the Green River...very interesting and surprised to learn how long it is.

Took the tiller and grapple off the tractor and replaced with the bush hog and bucket so I could mow the Frisbee pasture and some of the trails yesterday. Nice to not get covered in dust.

Got my free tire rotation on my truck Friday...they had their "scratch repair guy" there on Fridays...he quoted $75 to fill the scratch using "a hyperdermic needle approach." (Scratch is down to the metal), but sounded like he wasn't recommending it...suggested I get a body shop estimate...which I already had two...$1550 and $1980 to fix an 8 foot long scratch down the passenger side...expensive lesson for not being careful enough driving close to a T post (which was hidden by weeds). I have another body shop giving me an estimate today.

62F now mid 70's for high.
What little rain we got help but more needed.

Hope to get front field trim before darkness arrives this afternoon...will be the last time this year...yet to get stung by ground bees.

Enjoy the day all.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 50° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 70 with clouds moving in in afternoon. Not much got done yesterday. Spent day helping a friend. Lawn cutting on the list for today.
Wngsprd, took a friend to a independent body shop yesterday to pick up his 07 Mariner Hybrid. He had rear fender panels on both sides replace because of rust. $1000. Not bad price. Hope you can find a similar shop.

Eric glad you got flagstones moved.

Randy, we switched to Xfinity Mobile about 4 months ago. Got a iPhone SE. While the phone works good. Service (Verizon) is not very good in our house. We do not use any data on it. It is connected to a Panasonic cordless phone by Bluetooth. Works good and never use the SE anymore. It sets on a self where service is best it gets in the house.

Drew, I like the BX attachment. Good welding project for you.

RNG, nice looking tool. Mine never look that good. Hope all the fires miss you.

Ed, glad your Mom's move is going good.

Good Morning All.

75 going to 87 today!
Where I am AT&T and Verizon are about equally bad but these phones automatically use any WiFi source or hot spot so I’m almost never relying on the antennae.

Make sure you turn WIFI Assist off under cellular data. Xfinity uses Verizon for calls and data unless you are on WIFI. Then only calls use Verizon.

Good morning! A cold front blew in from the North last night and temperatures plummeted to 64˚ this morning and will only get into the 70s today. Yea!

We had a VFD meeting last night and Hurricane Harvey finally did what I've been trying to do for the last 10 years. After Harvey forcefully moved the Fish Fry date to late September, instead of late August, no-one ever wants to work in the scorching August heat again. The Fish Fry will be changed to the last Saturday in September from now on.
Attendance and donations were up!! We even had to refund a dozen meal tickets because we ran out of fish after 1450 pates sold. This is in a cow field with the area's population about 200.

RNG hope the devastating fires stay away from you.
