Good Morning!!!! 68F @ 6:00AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 96F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
All this talk of woodstoves and snowmen already has me looking forward to fall. And it's still June! For one more day, anyway.
Managed to catch up with the mechanic at his shop yesterday, and he seemed genuinely surprised at my concern. He was even more surprised when I told him that I was making arrangements to pick up the van and farm the work out to other shops. That lead to another string of excuses, which I cut short by telling him he had just one more week to show he could make progress on the engine, and just the engine, or we were done. We shall see, but I'm not holding my breath.
Another wildfire close by across the canyon yesterday afternoon, followed by someone running into a tree with their car at 1:00 AM this morning in the same area that also led to a fire. Both were quickly contained, which shows how seriously the firefighters are taking things, a healthy change from the "just let it burn" attitude of just a few years ago.
Yesterday was the anniversary of the release of the movie Full Metal Jacket, the story of Marines going through boot camp and being deployed to Viet Nam. It was a good reminder that no matter how bad things seem in the Middle East right now, what was going on in Southeast Asia back then was far worse.
TGIF gang!
