Got another HOSP ... so that makes 3 for the day. Might have gotten more if I had realized that the water dish (cat food can) they had knocked over was actually blocking the entry door and moved it when I discovered the 3rd one.

The dead one is bagged and in the freezer ... until I find out if the Medina Raptor Center (or someone else doing raptor rehab) is interested in them for food.

Other than that, got a lot more spraying done, but still have about 7 gallons in the tank ... will finish in the morning.

After that, it looks like the front lawns need mowed again ...

Mr. and Mrs. Mallard Duck were at the frog pond when I sat down to eat tonight ... saw a snotload of 1 inch tadpoles out there this morning when I was cleaning. Must be easy pickin's ...

Last year our local hospital got the ransom ware virus. The FBI under the last years president (not to get political) told them to pay the $60,000.00 ransom. Several people were laid off afterwards (nurses not IT) to make up the loss. I knew then the future was not too bright as far as cyber security since they were being well funded.

Drew, the seam is screwed in place with a bracket and then the other seam is placed on top of it and a crimping machine rolls up and down the roof crimping the seams together.
"Metal Roof Installation" by CoolFlatRoof.com - YouTube

The youtube does not show the crimping machine rolling along the seam.

David Moss - Insurance Companies give a reduced premium for metal roofs. They have less hail damage claims.

Just watched the evening news, and the ransomware story made the broadcast. They interviewed the IT manager at a large Redding, CA hospital who claimed that all of his systems were patched and had so far not been effected. The newscaster also mentioned the North Korea suspicion, but in some reading today I learned that the group that hacked the NNSA and obtained their hacking tools is also taking some credit. It's not a big leap to guess that this group is funneling the NNSA tools to the highest bidder, regardless of the consequences. The group is quoted as saying "you ain't seen nuthin' yet."

Good evening all. 70F this morning, winds at 15+ mph and partly sunny sky. Temps warmed to 82F, sky partly to mostly cloudy, wind gust to 25 mph and rain later tonight. Had a pair of mallard ducks nesting in the front bushes and saw two egg shells on front walk this morning. Have trap out tonight, probably too late. Got bike ride in in-spite of wind, did some consulting this morning, and a nap.

53 right now...high in the mid-80's with a relatively low (30%) probability of rain. I mowed most of the lawn when I got home yesterday...expect to finish it this afternoon, if it doesn't rain.
I'm going to swing by my Deere dealer on the way home to look at a used Flail mower. While I'm there, I'll pick up an oil filter for the 4520.

Raining at the moment and expected to continue wet all day. Perfect. It takes only a short while with a shortage of water to realize how dependent we are on regular rainfall.

Our local new is full of the story of workmen finding a bomb. At 250kg, it is one of the biggest unexploded WW2 bombs ever found in the country and caused major traffic delays as it took them 2 days to deal with it. In the end they dumped 13 truck loads of sand on the top and then - Ww2 bomb Birmingham - YouTube

and all we can find are arrowheads!! Hard to imagine looking at those youtube videos, and there are lots of them on this bomb, everyone's camera was rolling, what it was like to be anywhere near a 500 pound bomb going off.
That explosion was huge. Probably brought back some bad memories to some very old Brits.

of course we did drop a nuclear bomb with I've read four of the five failsafes tripped about fifty miles to my West in Goldsboro NC. Now that sure didn't see the light of day until well afterwards.

hot day today, 69 already going to 91. I'm off early with the Jag to take it for its first inspection. Shop is right down the street from my foreign car place, they know each other well, and I"m hoping the inspection station once being told all four brake pads are new +++ they will just leave the wheels alone. $1800 a piece if they break a wheel.
They would be smart to leave them on...Now if they could find the rattle I would be ecstatic but that isn't going to happen. I just hope they don't say the rattle is a failing safety component and you do not pass go. We don't even check trucks for emissions in this county, no trucks at all..., so unlikely the car inspections are overly thorough.

once that is done, home to sweat and sharpen mower blades. A few of my pecan trees are finally starting to bud, not much, still wonder why they are so slow in coming out. Hazelnuts and English Walnuts are leafing like crazy.
