64 going to 87 and had a t-storms pass through earlier this morning.

RS, those dogwoods are very pretty.

MFW - congrats on the construction loan progress...lots of pix as you build your house, right?

Kyle, fortunately the blacksnake was here near the house and not down at the barn where the wrens are learning to fly.

My wife and I went to Virginia Beach to take my mom out for lunch yesterday. Had a great seafood meal (oysters and flounder, my favorites) at a really good restaurant over in the neighborhood where I grew up...was surprised to find a restaurant there since it was a house when I used to live down there. We explored my old stomping grounds and the houses where I grew up, and raised my first garden when I was about 10 years old and played street baseball, and hit the bat. Lots of fun...strange, though, everything seemed so much smaller than when I was a kid. Then rode around looking at the schools I attended and brought back many fond memories.

Then went to the Norfolk Botanical Garden - over 250,000 azaleas. Thought of you Drew - what looked like thousands of rose bushes and trellises. Great day, and back home at bedtime after sitting in bridge-tunnel traffic at 7pm.

66 outside this AM. Heck, today I might have to mow the front lawn again, it's been two days. Need to get the weed whacker out, mine is a 1/2 day job. That's 4 hours. LOL. Wife said start looking for bigger mowers. Guess she misses me during the day. I told her it's all the gardens, ponds, pool, fence and buildings that will still need the push mower. I think she got it.

It looks like today will be a really nice day. The fog has settled over the pastures and the turkeys are somewhere in the back enjoying it all. Have a great day all. Be safe. And have a great weekend,

Good Morning! 54 F @ 5:15AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 74F. Winds NW at 15 to 25 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.

Weather Underground's page for the area features an Areal Flood Advisory, which when viewed turns out to be for high flows and associated minor flooding along the Truckee River. The Truckee River flows out of Lake Tahoe, north to Truckee, where it turns east into Nevada, then north, ending in Pyramid Lake. It doesn't come within a hundred miles of here, or any of the small valley towns along the Sacramento River for which the flood watch is posted. :confused2: AFter all the trouble we've had with Lake Oroville, the last thing we need is a false alarm from a river all the way on the other side of the Sierra Nevada mountains!

Finished mowing the western slope of the property yesterday, but not before getting out the pole saw and limbing up some of the trees that literally give me headaches while doing so. And as I'd hoped, the flail mower mulches the branches, up to 2" anyway, quite nicely. Sure beats trying to pile them into the back of the side-by-side and hauling 'em off to the burn pile where they'll have to wait for fall. It seems that CalFire is requiring burn permits as of May 1, and limiting fire size to a measly 4'x4' pile. That's one load, or about ten minutes of limbing. I was at it for an hour yesterday, and have at least two more on the agenda for today.

Did have one scary moment when I looked back to find the mower all akilter off the back of the tractor. It seems that one of the branches had somehow dislodged a lynch pin on the three point, letting the left lift arm come off and causing the right side of the mower to raise up a couple of feet off the ground. Not a good situation with a spinning PTO shaft and all those blades thrashing around! Never did find the pin, but I'll have another look see today.

TGIF gang!

Good morning 48 degrees sunshine today suppose to be 88 degrees and 90 tomorrow. I got some major mowing after the grass dries we had between 5 and 6 inches of rain so the heat with wet ground is a perfect combination for green fast growing grass. everyone have a great day.

A rather chilly 49F @ 09:00 but very sunny ... high today supposed to be 69F.

The muffler bolt removal on the 8 hp Briggs went about like you'd expect ... after realizing that I didn't have the right size EZ-out I ran down to the hardware and picked up the correct one and a drill bit. After drilling the old bolt I stuck the EZ-out in (after heating the jug at the bolt hole) and proceeded to torque on it. Thought I heard/felt it move ... so I gave it a little more nut ... and promptly snapped the EZ-out off ... since I had the drilled hole fairly close to centered, I should have just kept drilling it out with bigger drill sizes and then chased it with a tap. Hindsight being 20/20 of course.

So then I ran over to my friends who I'd loaned the EZ-outs to, and picked those up and his set of diamond grinding points. Those were less than impressive ... seemed to work but was very, very slow.

On the way into the doc's yesterday afternoon I dropped by Kromhard Twist Drill and picked up a carbide rotary burr ... which should be a little more aggressive. Will try that once it warms up a little.

Got a shot of xylocaine/cortisone in each hip and an spinal adjustment, due to go back in a week for another adjustment. The chiropractor was interesting ... climbed all over me about carrying a wallet in my hip pocket (and sitting on it) ... I had never even thought about it, but it makes sense I suppose.

We did end up getting a very brief shower yesterday before I left ... but it didn't amount to much.

I need to call the LLMS on the pole saw today and see if they found out anything, pick up gas and diesel, and see if I can repair the 8 hp on the Trac Vac.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable and productive weekend.

Good morning all. Calm and muggy this morning. It's going to be a warm day with a high of around 85 deg F. I've got half my yard mowed yesterday and will finish the rest today since it will be rainy this weekend.

Work is crazy. If I survive the next 4 weeks, I'm going to buy me a bottle of single malt to celebrate!

52°F and drizzly this morning, going up to 66° with heavy rains later. Heard on the news this morning we may get up to 8" over the weekend. Yikes.

Our shower was finally installed yesterday. Apparently it posed some challenges, as the contractor was still there when I got home from work. Him and his son were joking that they weren't going to accept Lowe's work anymore.

Have a safe weekend, everyone.
