Good morning!!!!

Drinking first cup of coffee. 54° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 85° with lots of sun. Going to a motor home show today. Leaving check book and credit cards at home.
Drew, give that arm lots of rest.
Ridtides, Silo's around Michigan were used for silage (chopped up corn stalks). That was allowed to ferment in the silo before being fed to diary cows. The open area that has ladder rungs had angle iron spaced to allow metal or wood pieces to slide in to close off the opening. Some had roofs. They were used for grain.
Lenny and others, good luck with your big box store projects. Hope they work out for you.
Good Morning All.

28 this morning and headed to 67 today.

Need to move some diesel fuel around and order some fresh. Then looks like I may be off to friends to help him saw. He's got a stack of logs from his new chicken house build. Made the clearing crews layout anything saw logs size. Will see his progress on that also. He's sawing out his interior lumber for his house build in a couple of years. Going to try to do a stick framed house with wood walls, floor and ceiling without buying it. His way of justifying the sawmill.

Drew. Get better.

Raining today with temps in the high 50's. Dropping to 30's for day time highs and 10 and lower for the next few nights.

Cold front came in yesterday. 45 deg and crispy this morning.

Still waiting for the headlight assembly to come so I can fix my truck.
Still waiting for the hoses to come so I can fix my front end loader.
I was just told the washer & dryer I order are on back order. I guess I'm going to have to either wash clothes by hand or find some way to get the old washer to work albeit temporarily. My lady already got someone in mind to donate the washer & dryer.

Do you have a portable mill? I've been wanting one of those.

good morning all. The new weather forecast is pretty depressing actually, now they predict one to three inches of snow on Sunday and temps down to 22 degrees. That will take out a lot of my fruit orchard; even colder than the 25 degrees that froze it last year. Sure was hoping to get lucky here but the forecast is not helping.

not doing particularly well this morning since my left forearm injury from yesterday picking up something heavy has not gone away. Felt like a snapping, shocking pain, and then I could hardly raise my arm. Can hardly do so this morning, couldn't even hold up a coffee mug. Thankfully I am right handed but looks like I sprained something, made some tendon or muscle really unhappy. Hope it goes away soon, needless to say the bucket load of topsoil stayed in the FEL and I did no digging yesterday. Never had this happen before.

light showers this morning, not much, warm in the low sixties, pretty much the high of the day.

I hope you get well soon.
I'm still nursing a torn left bicep. I feel your pain.

Drew, be careful with that plate steel. It gets real heavy real fast. You could scratch your tailgate up. Hope arm gets better soon. My wife is researching an old remedy for arthritis. It is a sulphur compound that can also provide other benefits. It is not just plain old sulphur. I will get some links to it soon.

50's going to upper 60's today and tomorrow, then winter for 4-5 days. Drew, get well.

36°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 66° today.

A new customer (Blount/Woods) is coming for a tour of our facility today at work. Everyone has been in clean-up mode for the last day or so. Sure wish we could keep the place this organized every day.

The local Lowe's people have offered a solution to the kitchen dilemma. Their regional manager is supposed to be there today to investigate what happened, and presumably sign off on the action plan. We'll see ...

Hey Eric, look what they dug up in a farmer's rabbit hole in Shropshire. How close is this to you?

Good Morning! 48F @ 7:45AM. Partly cloudy. Slight chance of a rain shower. High 62F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

Hoping for a quick recovery of your arm, Drew.

Looks like more than one tree in the silo, Rip. But maybe they're small enough to just buck 'em from the bottom up? Fer sure do it before the leaves come out though, so you'll at least be able to see what yer doin'!

I'm afraid that like some of you, I have a lack of tolerance for incompetence, and it has me a bit reluctant to start the shop project. This time 'round I think checking references will be more important than ever.

Should get through the "M"s on the DVD conversion today, marking the halfway point in that project. Really enjoying "finding" movies and TV series I'd totally forgotten about!

I don't have a lot of room for a house battery, Ron, and figure if I can cram 100 Amp hours in I'll be lucky. Isotherm makes a refrigerator/freezer that only draws .7 Amps, vs. the Truckfridge at 2. Of course the Isotherm is almost twice the price, more than a K buck... The good news is I can probably get away with a microwave from K-mart in the $50 range, but I think it'll only work when the van is plugged into AC. I will put an inverter in the system, but I think the microwave will be too hard on the battery. The little Propex heater I'm considering is sold by the same fella that carries Truckfrige up in Bend, Oregon, so I'll give him a call today and see what he thinks. Likely he'll be all for the Truckfridge; he doesn't make any money off the Isotherm:laughing:

understandable...and I bet the suffers fools poorly also applies... :D

got the finish mower back on the Massey and the chipper in the shed.
decided to cool it and chill out today, will mow the roadsides tomorrow.
want them to look nice for our first snow...winter whiplash for sure.

smallest microwaves are 700 watts I believe, should be fine with a 1000 watt inverter

Be safe have a great day

OK then
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall

You've got me nervous now. Wife has contracted Home Depot to do near 9k of windows replacement while I'm gone working here in Texas next couple of weeks.
I hope the situation goes better for us but it doesn't look good at first the start as the wrong stuff and wrong measurements showed up in her first precheck with them.

That's exactly what happened to us. We started to notice questionable stuff based on what we were seeing on the drawings. We started asking questions in January, and the guy in charge of the project simple never responded to our queries. When material started showing up, all of the unanswered questions turned into real-world problems. Their measurements were wrong, and consequently so are the products.

My advice to you; stay on them, and force communication if you have to. If you're not getting timely resolutions, move up the ladder of command until you do. Don't wait for them to do what's right.

... and I hope you have a better experience than we are having.

I've actually been told that.

It's not so much that the inverter wouldn't put out enough for the microwave, it's that a 100 AH battery wouldn't last very long:

Microwave @ 6.3 Amp (700W) - 17 hours
Frig @ .7 Amp - 142 hours
Propane heater @ 2 Amp - 50 hours
Audio system @ 5 Amp - 20 hours
Lighting @ 6 Amp - 16.6 hours

Probably be OK for a weekend, maybe a week in the summer, but anything more might mean dragging out the generator for a recharge.

So just the heater can use up the battery in a couple days of cold weather.
BTW, here's a pretty good article on lead acid batteries and what all the numbers mean.

Classic contractor cheap trick: Underestimate the job to hand in a low bid, then soak it to the customer when materials and labor run short. Wonder if there's anything about that in the HD contract?
