64 going to 88 today in clear weather, though foggy out now.
After today, thunderstorms predicted every day for a week.

Today I move the travel trailer around the orchard and over that water ditch culvert I made. going to have another set of eyes to make sure nothing wants to bottom out when I go over the top. Going to store it down by the barn, facing the house so I only see one end. Then I need to get a carport for it. Likely 12x36.

Good morning all. 60 this am going to 84. 80% chance of rain with a flash flood watch from 11 am to 11 pm. 5 or 6 deer out in the field about 4 or 5 hundred yards away this morning. Can sit in my chair and watch them.

Buppies, I found a better way to get the shrubs trimmed. I got an Ego hedge trimmer and my wife loves it. She has pruned about 1/3 of our shrubs. I have not had a chance to use it yet but I will suffer through it. Thanks to who ever it was that recommended Ego to me.

Kile, That fishing trip is likely something he will carry with him for the rest of his life. You too. Glad for you both.

Don You need some good old red clay. It won't wash so bad.

76 this morning and headed to 88 today.

Well AC is back to working for the time being. The coils were very dirty but it was also low on refrigerant. Wife's cousin also said it didn't have a large enough return duct. Well we'll get him to change that out sometime. But after a recharge and cleaning it's working pretty good. Just didn't have the return air numbers he wanted. New filter.

I've got maintenance in the chicken coops todo today. Then it's back to the house. The master bath still has the toilet and sinks that are functioning. I'll leave them till I can get the floor fixed. I now know why there was a draft in the bathroom closet. The floor was rotted out. The draft has been there since we moved in. Just kept telling myself it was unsealed plumbing. I didn't want to do a bath remodel. Then it's get 2 more rooms ready for the flooring measurement guy tomorrow.

Don. That's a lot of washing. Hope you found where it was deposited.

Another gorgeous morning, mid 50's early, low 80's later. Just put 2 tenderloins in the slow cooker, dry rubbed with some good stuff, Carolina BBQ for dinner! Got a guy coming to look at a tractor so I don't have time to mess with the smoker this morning.

Good Morning! 72F @ 6:00AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 103F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Ron, sounds like you're getting your strength back!

They're the times of your lives, Kyle.

Ground the heads of another hundred or so plug welds yesterday using the zirconia flapper wheel from HF, and it's still holding up well. Didn't work so well on to remove the headliner clip, so it was back to the spot weld drill, but it made very quick work taking off the little dots that were left behind.

That got me to about noon, and as I wasn't hungry yet and was getting tired of tripping over the new set of tires for the zebra bike, I decided it was time to mount them. That also went well, but did have to break the bead and rotate the back tire 180 degrees to get it to balance. At that point I still wasn't hungry, so took a little nap on the couch.

I wasn't down long before I started hearing airplanes and helicopters close by, and sure enough when I looked out the window to the west the air was full of smoke.

pentzFireCopter.jpg pentzFireCopter2.jpg pentzOV10.jpg

Just across the canyon a very large house was almost covered by a thick shroud of smoke, and a helicopter dragging a water bucket hovered overhead. I watched as it dumped it's load, but not on the house. Then back to the reservoir to fill up again, then it just circled the house. A borate bomber plane also began to circle but held off on a run, all this while an OV-10 spotter plane kept an eye on things. The Butte County Safety Scanner page on Facebook told me it was a grass fire that had been stopped before it reached the house, but it was a close thing. Close to here, too, only 3/4 mile away. But 1000 feet of that were bare canyon wall and water, so unless an ember managed to float that far, I was still relatively safe. About that time the phone rang and it was my bulldozer neighbor, who lives another two miles to the east, asking if I'd seen the fire. He'd been watching it since the beginning, as his property is much higher and he has a view looking down on that location. He said that a burnt manzanita leaf had fallen in his yard, so I think we can all be grateful that the fire didn't spot over the lake and take off again. Took them less than half an hour to stop the flames from spreading; very good response from a fire service that has been heavily criticized in the past. Here's the incident log from Facebook:

Ed, my EGO hedge trimmer was delivered Saturday and yesterday I went through two batteries, I love it also. My Ego collection now also includes the weed eater, mower, and blower. I think the only thing left is the chainsaw.

Good morning, Sunny heading to the high 90s.
