Good morning! 55˚. Today was supose to be sunny but we woke up to the weatherman's April Fool's joke. It's lightning. All plans are on hold till we figure what's going on.

April 2 - blue day!

48 this morning and headed to 67 today. 1.25 inches of rain yesterday. Some wind damage next county over. From the pictures looks like straight line winds. NWS will inspect today to confirm.

I have the boy again today. He has the rash stage of hand foot and mouth. So he's on the way of getting over it. Other than that may try to go get some cow feed and filters for the generator.

Kyle I'll have to remember that. We are on a waiting list to have the boy tested for autism. Could be a years wait.

48.9F with a few scattered clouds @ 08:30 ... temp is supposed to fall throughout the day as the cold air behind the front funnels in.

Had some pretty good rain, thunder, and lightning as the front came though last night.

All mast/tower plate pieces for the lower grapple jaw are welded up, welds ground off flush, and last four 2" holes drilled in them (holes are right on a weld seam)

Head up to shop here in a bit and split the pieces apart and then set them up on the table and start tacking things together.

Today would have been Pop's 109th birthday, but he only made it until 92.

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 57° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 77° with sunny skies. My sinuses have improved. But canceled a Indy Car outing at PIR. Should be a good day to enjoy some patio time.
Kyle, tomorrow will be BLUE day.
txdon, looks like drive project will continue for a while.
Drew, B&B can have interesting guest.
Ed, enjoy the shopping trip.
Good Morning All.

Good Morning. 0805, partly cloudy, 74F with 97% humidity. Forecast high of 75F with 100% chance of thunderstorms today, and a low of 59F tonight. Rain still not here.

Only a few hours before I have to head to work, but I thought I would wash and wax the cars, trucks and tractors. Then mow the front and back yards, plus the weedeating. I also need to press my slacks and shirt for work. It is a wedding lockout today. If there is time, I will straighten up the house a little.

{April fools} I'm going to sit in the garden with a cup of coffee and wait for the rain.

You guys have a good one,

Larro

68° going to mid 70's, very strong south breeze, low dark clouds running to the north, dark overcast, if it doesn't storm today I'm badly fooled.

I have several farmer friends, so I can get about any legal herbicide/insecticide/fertilizer there is. But I honestly don't need large quantities, however I can get the good stuff if I need it. Last year I looked out and my friend that had been spreading lime across the road, was now liming my front yard! It cost me though, sausage and eggs with biscuits.

Good Morning! 50 F @ 6:00 AM. Sunny. High 74F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.

Drew, you are lucky indeed that she was open enough with you that you could part as friends. My ex couldn't be honest with herself, let alone me. A friend had warned me about "credibility issues", but love is blind...

In trying to upgrade my cell phone yesterday, I learned that Verizon Wireless will waive their requirement for my Social Security Number if I FAX them a copy of my driver's license and a utility bill. Once again, it just took getting to the right person to make it happen. Hopefully today "Robert" will confirm receipt of the FAXes and we can conclude the transaction.

Also got the truck unloaded yesterday. That was the easy part. Now I have to find room to put all those "treasurers" I dragged home. :confused2: They come in all sizes:

playingCards.jpg safe.jpg

Both of these came via West Virginia, from Grandpa's house. I remember playing safe cracker as a child, but I never saw the cards until this last trip back to Ohio.

The truck itself has an appointment with a mechanic for Monday morning. Now I need to get the little Yamaha running again so I'll have a ride back from town. Just needs a new battery, and one is on the charger as I write this.

During the month of March we got enough rain to nearly fill Lake Oroville, enough so that they opened the spillway last week to let some out. Apparently the authorities are afraid that there won't be enough room to prevent flooding if the snowmelt happens to quickly. Yet the drought maps are still showing this area in the Extreme range. Apparently it'll take a few years to recharge the groundwater, and we're being urged to continue our conservation measures. I bet the authorities won't get much cooperation on that one.

All that rain came with some big winds, one gust topping out at 47 MPH. The 30' x 30' tarp that used to cover my firewood pallets was in shreds when I saw it yesterday.

lakeOrovilleLowWater.jpg NBLakeView3-31-2016.jpg

Enjoyed a glass of wine on the patio last evening, and the contrast in lake level from before I left and now is astonishing. The fishermen are already taking advantage, and I suppose once warmer weather sets in the skiers will be back, too.

Got word late last night that the old man had passed. Not at all unexpected, and a blessing that his decline was rapid and painless. In his 87 years he covered a lot of ground: he was a Marine during the Korean War, had two great wives, built precision machines for an elevator company, drove some beautiful cars, gathered some great hunting and marksmanship trophies, and lived out his last years in a wonderful home in a caring community. We should all be so fortunate.

Thanks! I have a lot of nutsedge and it's hard to kill, glyphosate will kill it, but it requires a good soaking and several weeks in order to kill the roots.

What is your starting point and ending point on the Zephyr?

I greased the tractor, aired up the front tires, filled it with diesel, strapped down the cement blocks, and I'm ready for the road trip. I even bought a couple of stick on mirrors from Walmart. The weather is not cooperating - rain. I'll wait another 2 hours before calling it off today.

Use caution with Pramitol 25e. If the area to be cleared of vegetation is on an incline or slope, use care in application as Pramitol can easily leach downwards towards desirable plants or water sources. Pramitol is a bare ground herbicide that has been widely used by industrial and commercial applicators. "Bare Ground" means exactly that: wherever Pramitol is sprayed, nothing will grow for one year or more.

Home from the store and paying bills. Maybe time for a nap.

Just till it!
For me there is no use in gardening unless it is organic. I can get all the non-organic veggies in town, and in season, they are less expensive than I could ever grow.
