yeah, that wrecker call would have cost the driver a big chunk of his profit, so I saved his bacon.
Utterly self serving actually; I wanted to go to bed...
pitch black country road, deep ditches on either sides, and the guy could have made it; saw his tracks and he cut too soon, had to back up and then he buried it.
I was right there guiding him all the way with the headlights of the truck while he was doing all this, and seeing him go in that ditch, well, it was not good thing, and I figured the only way to get to bed was to get his rig off my property.
And I realize now I did not push down on the diff lock, which I would have done if I had thought of it. But apparently plenty of traction with the R4's on sandy grass. I'll go look in the morning and see what kind of ruts I made, if any.

boy there was a bunch of high fiving going around...most of these guys were from Philadelphia, hard working and not a white man in sight. We all got along great as I went through hundreds of dollars of food and gallons and gallons of gatorade.

we ran so late tonight I had to go get dinner, so after ordering seven cheeseburgers there this lunch, I'm back ordering 8 pulled pork sandwiches, since they were low on fried chicken.

Now I figured these guys would love a pulled pork sandwich, with hot sauce and a little cole slaw on top.
So I come out of deli with another sixty bucks worth of food and guess what...out of four guys, three of them did not eat Pork. The local NC guy just chowed down on them, but the other guys gave various reasons, including one being a Muslim. He was hesitant to admit that, but did.

and lastly, because I think I'm finally fading fast, when I gave out tips at the end he seemed the most appreciative and genuinely happy to get a nice 50buck tip. The others said thanks and saw it I'm sure as a single. The bearded Muslim saw it as a triple. I was delighted to make his day. They all worked very hard, but the one day worker they hired locally was a thin wiry guy who outran them all. But he weighed half of some of these guys and when it came time to get the exercise equipment and the desks up to the second floor, he was never invited.

I paid eleven grand to have Bekins do this move. Now that I've been through it, and see the effort involved,
that amount seems quite reasonable to me. 11k cost divided by 25K weight equals...
just too tired to figure it out ;)

I hear the siren call of my pillow.

Great story Drew, glad it all worked out.
Reminds me back when we were starting our house build. Materials were delivered in 40ft containers which the truck company would leave for a few days for us to unload then return and retrieve the empty. One time the retrieving driver misjudged and got mired. I still have the pic pulling him out with my Kioti CK30. He too, was a very happy camper.

56 this morning here in the mountains.
Going to be a work weekend getting boats out and the dock.
Wife is heading to Germany on Sunday for a couple weeks so I will do the close up prep work so it will be easier to finish in October.
Days are shorter and there is lots of leaf color showing up, sign of colder weather coming for sure!

67 going to 86 and cloudy.

Glad to see this part of the move is over - now the fun part of unpacking. I'm sure it will be like opening presents on Christmas morning...not knowing what is in the box.

Don, nice to read about your health progress.

Well, my wife is back home from the beach so things are better here, too.

49F this morning. Upper 70's today and dry.

More tractor work in the field is today's plan. I need to get a swale crossing roughed-in and rocked before we get rain. It's mostly backhoe work and gathering the right-sized rocks.

Have a good one.
