For those talking about a "polar vortex", I recall those words being used by the media to help us worry about the feared "global cooling" scare of the 1970's.

For central Ohio right now it's ten below and windy with another couple weeks of this expected. Even the dogs don't want to go out. When does the woodchuck make the six weeks of winter forecast? I'm getting anxious.

13 this morning clear skies and windy high of 18 later today. North of us gets another clipper system tomorrow night then something might brew up over the weekend but it stays cold. The ground hog predicts in Feb. I believe, at least the one in Pa. Must get car unstuck from driveway this morning. 12 percent grade got us last night coming back from dinner. -27C by our outdoor sensor, last time it dipped this low the battery in the sensor froze. See what happens today. Wind chill -35 Brrrr really cold putting the garbage out this morning, the sunrise is beautiful, no warmth though. Sorry about leaving the back door open but now its frozen open so I am afraid the cold is going to keep on coming. Stay warm, think warm thoughts and say the appropriate to keep the furnace working. The Vermont castings stove is at the cottage no use here. Might turn the gas fireplace on just to help out. Well go to go drop the boss off at the bus stop and head to the coffee shop, read the paper. Some plumbing to do today, replacing the shower valve today.
