Sorry Texans, I know we sound like broken records. It rains. We mow. It rains. We mow. And mow....

Drew, our routine is mow, water, water again, water some more, water yet again, still watering. . . mow the high spots.:confused2:

David, my BIL works for Lowes. He works on the Pro desk, but I call him the Jobber. He will help you figure what large jobs are going to cost, and he can knock off quite a lot off the list price. Even if you just have a small job, check out at the Pro desk and ask for a break. Most of the time you will get one.

Thanks, good tip
Unfortunately, as much as I like Lowes, it is on the other side of the island, 190 mile round trip, so I don't get as much there as HD.
I'm pleased with the way HD worked out, about a 20% discount, commercial grade stuff AND delivery - that alone is worth about 4-6 hours of my time, more than $20 in gas - well worth the $79 charge.

David, it was the Jobber you dealt with at HD. All the big box store Hardware places are run about the same. It sounds like you got a deal. We always shopped HD when we had to go to Panama City {50 miles}. But now we have a Lowes right up the road {20 miles} in Marianna, so we shop there now.

Warm and muggy today another round of storms today. Yesterday we finally got some rain almost an inch and a half in less than an hour. TGIF and that's nice

another muggy day with storms going all around us. Might get some mowing in, maybe not.

I should have mowed yesterday afternoon, but it's so sticky out I escaped to my cool basement wood shop where
I have a little painting operation going. Painting as in a 1968 Cub Cadet 125 I have been restoring in my garage for way too long, years... actually was good to see that shiny yellow paint again. Little by little I get each piece done, then, after several years, I really wonder if I remember how to put it back together...at least I put the hardware in bags and labeled them. I think the "hmmm, where does this go" will be a common question. And then for a little garden tractor that will only pull a cart, do I restore/refinish each little bolt? Anyone who has done this knows the tedium here. You put so much time into it you think "well, I'd better do this too", and this, and this.

the guy who had this mower before painted it all in the wrong CC yellow. This is the before, someday I'll post the afterwards.

so when my mowing is done this month, which so far hasn't been as hot as July, strange..., I'm going to head to the basement and keep on painting. And stay cool.

Neat project, daugen. My work projects are usually in the heat too. It's good that you have a work area that is out of the elements! Yes, may as well restore each bolt. After all, you've some this far with it!

Drinking second cup of coffee. 53° with clouds this morning. Heading to 80 with lots of sun. Friends came in with their RV yesterday. So stayed up way to late last night. Women are off to the local art fair. Milford Memories. That should leave us guys to do nothing all day.
Good Morning All.

Good Morning All.

Ron,
I sure hope your rv friends were smarter than me... My first time setting down the jacks last week on my friend's new paved driveway, I put two perfectly round dents in his macadam because I didn't know to use jack pads. And then the next morning there was a small puddle of hydraulic oil left also. Not exactly the house presents I wanted to bring... Drew

Slept well last night. Up at 5:45.

Most of the chaos in my life is unchanged of course. Participated in a great Bible study last night, found some support in unexpected places.

Tomorrow I am picking up a free swing set (I need to take it apart and move it) and I will set it up again at my Ranch for my kids to play with.

At least the little one will like it.

Be well all.
David
