Congratulations, JM !!! Any foot in the door for employment today is worth a lot...very, very happy for you. Does this mean you have less time to troll here on TBN and be a postwhore?

Temp is 45 degrees now, probably the warmest it will get the rest of the year. Just came in from storing the last of the hoses and the power washer, have everything done except test starting the snowblowers and installing the plow blade on the ATV. Well, that's all for me, anyhow.

HEY BRIN !!! Want me to post a pic here of my Meatball/black bean crock pot chili? I better not, the one of the veggie beef soup really seemed to make you sad you couldn't be here for a serving....

Yes absolutely post the picture.....and I will have you know I made chicken soup the next night when it was cold here and then beef stew 2 days later...it was and is still cold at night...Sure ...you better share the pictures and the recipes...maybe you , the tread starter extraordinaire should start a TBN chef Thread ..where us aspiring chefs can share recipes....:)

"Aspiring chefs" my a**....since when is crock pot meal preparations considered cooking? Maybe five years ago I emailed one of my wife's cousins and described my latest effort at cooking, she sent back "WOW, you actually prepare meals??!!" And I replied, "Nothing to it, just thaw it and nuke it..."

Her response: "That's not cooking....that's cheating..!!!"

There's a lot to be said for those kind of meals Bill :licking:

I'm fond of a "pierce & ping" myself, love that old microwave on cold nights where my hands are too stiff to cook... Or that's what I say anyway

Drinking coffee to get my day going. 37 degrees with clouds this morning. Heading to 44 with some sun and clouds throughout the day. Got my test results from last week. I am good for another year. Still have another reference test next week. I hate having to fast for these test. Therapy is working. Back is feeling better everyday. Today is runaround errand day after therapy.
Congrats on the job Jamie.
Good Morning All.

Good Morning! Warm day, 65-85, foggy now. Brin that carrot link was interesting - a reference to 300 recipes and one with put hay on carrots and set on fire!

When my Parents bought their last car at the age of 70 they thought that would be the last time to buy a car.
Well it did not work out as planed. Now in their mid eighties they have outlasted the car and are now looking for their last car. Mom does all the driving so it's her decision on which one and she is asking for advice. I took her to look at a Toyota Camry and a Ford Fusion, and that is the size she wants.
Any suggestions?

30's-50 or so for the next 10 days, a few days not out of the 40's. That's about as much winter as we got all last year! Have a great weekend folks!:drink:

Don,

My $0.02 is the Ford, Toyota, or Honda are the ONLY three I would look at. All the rest are either too cheap or too expensive, or questionable reliability, or some combo of those three.

I'd suggest looking at a Subaru wagon or Forester. The wagon (Outback) is the more comfortable car

Brin, Roy, Honda and the others look like they are out because the dealerships are too far away on roads she does not feel comfortable driving on (2-lane, 70 mph, over 50 miles). She has reservations of buying her first "foreign" car and will be surprise to learn the Fusion is made in Mexico and the Camry is made in Kentucky. Right now the 2012 Fusion (with rebates, similarly equipped) is $2K less than the Camry, but the 2013s are priced the same.

Where a car is finally assembled has little to do with where the end profits go.
Having said that, I've owned north 140 vehicles, over 40 bought new. I'll never buy another new vehicle from anybody whether I can afford it or not, I feel I've contributed enough and the 33% give away to drive off the lot is more than I can stomach anymore.

Clouds and showers this morning with light rain for later today and overnight. Highs have been around 54F for the past few days.

Don, rather than where the car is made I think it is most important that your mother feel comfortable driving it. There are lots of good cars out there and think she needs to test drive a few.

Exactly. The salesmen do not know how lucky they are to have me as the middleman. Strange, she feel absolutely no need to drive it before she buys it.?????
She says she drove the F150 pickup before my Dad bought it (when he was still driving) and did not like it, but now she loves it, so whatever she gets, she says will get use to it. Right now she is content just to sit in them. ????? (I would never do this.) ((I hope I survive this.))

Good afternoon TBNers!

Excuse any spelling mistakes as I have a cracker of a migraine and can't see the keys on the keyboard so I'm relying on my fingers to hit the right keys.

Nice and sunny here in Scotland but still mighty cold.

Currently listening to a Don Williams CD (a rather apt song is playing - "Where do I go from here").

Hope everybody is having a good day.
