78, sunny, and headed a high of 84 this afternoon, with the chance of a thunderstorm developing later around 17:00.
The birds have located the new feeder I put up a few days ago and are making a dent in the seed .... although from watching them it appears they are being pretty picky, scattering a lot of seed trying to get to the sunflower seeds. Need to get the old one cleaned out today and load it with just sunflower seed. Sure is nice being able to watch them from the couch .... a much better show than most of what is on the boob tube ....
All the spraying is pretty much done for the time being. Got four trees (2 ash, two maple, all 30' to 35' tall) removed around the perimeter of the barn yesterday and the day before .... have two large poplar I'd like to take out, but it looks like I'll need to the backhoe to do it .... or just cut them down.
Also got a lot of real nice sandy loam screened .... I finally had to clear an area back in the woods to hold all the rock and gravel spoils. I still have a huge pile of topsoil left to screen from just my recent excavating, along with at least three others from previous work.
And I think I've finally come up with how I'm going to handle the one corner of the barn where the slope is pretty steep: put in a natural rock retaining wall on that corner that diverts any surface runoff away from the corner.
Hopefully today will be productive.
