67°F and rain this morning, going up to 82° today. A nice respite from the last two weeks of intense heat and humidity.
Unfortunately, the gully-washer storms this morning caused traffic issues all over the area. You'd think after 100+ years of driving, people would know by now not to drive that fast in pouring rain, and not to try to drive through flowing water. And yet ...
Got the holes in the driveway filled back in Saturday morning, washed out from the heavy rains late last week. Shoveled and moved two wheelbarrows full of gravel. By the time I was done, I had so much sweat running down my face and the inside of my glasses that I couldn't see at all. That was enough for one day. Spent the rest of the day in my nicely air conditioned home studio.
Sunday morning I took a walk with the line trimmer. Finished knocking down the tall stuff in the bog area, and took a walk around the fence lines and various mowing obstacles in the back yard. Same result; stopped when I couldn't see anymore. Man, I'm tired of summer already, and it's still only July.
Spent much of the rest of the day Sunday doing updates on the studio computer. I bought it used, and it showed the last update for Windows 8.1 was in early February. There was quite a list of updates, so I chose all but one and let it go. Took way longer than it should, but got it done. Also loaded a couple of updates on the recording software (DAW - Digital Audio Workstation). That took all of about 30 seconds total, for download and run time. Amazingly, everything seems to still work as it's supposed to.
Best wishes for those on the mend. Hang in there, BEF.
