Then did our first Costco run of the year. They had Mobil 1 oil at $10 off a box...glad to see they had 0W20, my grade, for the first time...they enlarged the store recently and carry more variety.
3 of my vehicles use 0W20, I keep it in stock when Costco has it on sale, but I’m good with at least 4 boxes right now.

Car storage has upscaled a lot with car elevators and parking next to the condo.

Remember when D was stationed in Stuttgart Germany she had an car elevator to get up to a parking level in the building and she was complaining about how tight it was and the small parking spaces. In the picture her car was the one in the middle.
Mention of car elevators reminded me of Paternosters, which I first found in Germany.
Paternosters seemed a great solution for moving people.

Good morning! 36˚F and very foggy, visibility about 100' no driving this morning.

We did a Costco run Tuesday - mistake - school was still out and lines were backed up halfway to the back of the store, just turned around and headed home, might try again later today since school has started back up again.

One more PT next week then a week off and then one final PT, he wants to see how I progress on my own, should be discharged by the end of January.

Good news on 2023 IRS extra standard deductions for us over 65.
For 2023, that extra standard deduction is $1,850 if you are single or file as head of household. If you're married filing jointly or separately, the extra standard deduction amount is $1,500 per qualifying individual. For filers age 65 or older, the additional standard deduction is on top of the regular standard deduction for a given tax year.

Limb removal is a bit of an issue, was on one once in Europe. Easy to see how dangerous they are, but more fun than an elevator.
Not really, idiots get trimmed down quickly.

Good Morning Ken,
Being of German heritage, my mindset that is that all things German are good ! Maybe not, was just getting ready to ask where the E-stop button on those things are located !;)

Time to get going on Christmas light removal ! I have to show Kathleen some progress before lunch time !:D

Good morning! Low of 28°, not supposed to go past the 32° mark, which is where the reading is at now. Snow is lightly falling since around 06:15. Maybe a 1/2" so far.

If this is how the snow is going to come down, I won't plow until tomorrow. Maybe later today if it gets more intense. Of all the things that were prepped for winter.... one got missed --- diesel fuel. Can is empty, tractor is half full. Guess I'm going to see road conditions first hand....

Not sure what else I can get into today. Max is itching to go out for some zoomies in the snow. After that, might just try to find the end of the internet.

Christmas lights here have to stay up until after Jan 6th, the Feast of the Epiphany, as per direct orders from the wifey (and MIL). Don't have too much to take down this year anyway.

Everyone have a great day!

65°F and .04 inches rain.

A good eye appointment for Sophie. Pressure up, swelling down - progress. Sure is slow though.

A good time celebrating our friends 80th.

We’ll be hosting H&F this afternoon.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Best Christmas decoration upgrade I did was permanently attach the LED lights to the house, all around the house, up and around the chimney too. Now I just turn them on for Christmas and not turn them on for the next 11 months until it's time to turn them back on. Merry Christmas me, lol.

Drew, did you look at converting the existing window into a man door? Would think that might be an economical improvement.
logically for sure
Landlord mentality, if it ain't broke...but poor long term planning
valuable real estate asset, any improvements go directly to market value.
unlike you or I who will immediately go fix something that isn't working right
Landlady's late husband was cheap, she is afraid to spend money,

this cottage would likely be a tear down if property sold. When landlady passes, who knows what her two sons will do.
I bet they want to get the estate to pay the capital gains and then what they inherit will likely get sold to cash out.

David, this place really needs that door to the garage and another door off the living room so there is some door, any door to rear of house.
Realistically I need to find someone to do the carpentry very cheaply, get an estimate, then go talk to her about who is going to pay for it.
maybe we could split some stuff, but I want another five year lease first.
I have already over improved this place...

she made a mushroom souffle and we sat by a giant fireplace. Was nice.
thankfully for her one of her sons lives on the property now. So she is retiring herself, which is smart.
hope those folks have done good financial planning, big estate there, plus six or seven rental properties.
The tax man cometh
and he's hungry

meanwhile I decided to wait a day or two for a multi pronged ask...

came home to find the one into four usb gizmo delivered. That I will fiddle with later.

Good Afternoon Guys,
Well I got the outside Christmas lights taken down today !
So I did get some putter time out in the Ct garage. I set up the wood lathe and attached it to my work bench for rigidity, and I think pretty successfully turned the long taper on the first rocker leg. We thought we were going to go back to Vt today, but the other couple couldn’t make it. So now I have to wait until the following weekend to bring the other legs down to Ct ! 😩 Why I didn’t bring all the front legs down is beyond me ! šŸ˜’

A couple of pictures , of before and after ! Could have used Phil today !
But all in all, I’m fairly pleased with the results!

Looks like you're doing a great job so far Scott!
Afternoon all.
What I though was going to be a rest and recuperate day turned into an all out demo and rebuild of my wood shop. Moved three lights, one electrical outlet, numerous dust collection pipes and fittings and much much more! Trying to make it easier to clean up when the projects are done. Started at 8 am. and worked straight thru till 3 pm. I'm beat and the blister I got on my foot Tuesday while we walked is acting up again!!
Looks like we could get up to a foot of snow Sunday-Monday. I'm ready and waiting.

I do have a project completed but can't get my phone to take a good pic. Will try the DSL camera tomorrow.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Big range of forecasts from the hypers. Mid VA was 12ā€, now 7ā€ according to wground, while NWS says 2-4ā€. Our forecast is now 1ā€, NWS says 1-2ā€.

Drew, that sounds like a good, reasonable approach to mutual benefit. Even if you paid, your benefit could out weigh that. Costs could be minimal especially if no electrical work. A five year lease would protect you against the unknown
