Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 7:15AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 68F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.
Looks like a nice calm day, so I'll get a brush pile fire going and start whittling away at all the branches and slash that have accumulated from the wood cutting.
Speaking of which, I have an email from someone at PG&E that wants to talk to me about removing wood from the property. I'm OK with them moving wood away from their power lines, as long as they move it closer to my wood yard and not *off* the property.:confused2:
Hate and evil cannot be prevented, only prepared for and stopped when they rear their ugly heads.
Don, I'm not quite a Hummus Hater, but my experiences with it so far have not been enjoyable. I'm still open minded, though, so give us your best shot and I could be tempted to give up my $5 Costo roast chicken sandwiches at lunch.
There are some beautiful '73s in the latest
flyer from Rock Island Auctions, Buppies. I wish they'd quit sending those things to me.
Well, the conversation at the mechanic's went a little better than I thought it would yesterday. I came away with all my parts and on speaking terms with him, so that's something. But he didn't have a core to use for the new decoupler purchase, and didn't offer to cover any of the associated cost, either. But that's pretty much what I expected since the leopard doesn't change his spots overnight. I did learn more about the decoupler I had, though. It turns out he bought it from someone that got it from one of the big Vanagon parts suppliers, but so long ago it's unlikely, even if a purchase receipt could be produced, that they would do anything to remedy the problems with it. There's an outside chance what I have can be used as a core as it is, but it's a long shot as it has already been altered from the VW configuration and there might not be enough left to work with.
I did come home with a pickup bed full of plastic pallets, and enough rebar to start staking the survey markers with something more permanent. Had a fellow stop his truck to see how I was cutting the 20' lengths down in the HD parking lot, and asked about the little inverter. I didn't mind talking with him, but I purposely set up in a far corner of the lot so as to be out of the way, and the idiot left his truck sticking out into the isle and close enough to the rebar I was cutting I was worried about putting a dent in it. Just goes to show that common sense isn't so common these days.
Scored a couple of nice skirt steaks at the grocery store, the first time I've seen the whole steak offered instead of cut and rolled. Oddly, one was cut in half, which made rolling the shorter pieces something of a challenge, but it just meant using more skewers to keep it together and it was still delicious for dinner.:licking:
