Perspective is an often under rated or under utilized term. There are so many forms of it. Eye level, below/underneath, 10' over a situation, 10,000' over it, all the way to global perspective. Figuring which perspective to apply is half the problem. Keeping things in perspective can help one's daily life style.
Well put, Kyle. So many folks have no perspective at all; they're totally reactive to whatever situation they find themselves in, and it's always the most important thing on their mind at the time. Is a phone call to your mom really more important than evacuating your house from an approaching wildfire? Is a broken TV really more important than not being able to pay the rent? It seems as though whatever problem(s) you have, they're the most important ones in your life, but most times the problems we have really aren't that big compared to not being able to feed, clothe, or house yourself. I'm glad I've had those last three problems in the past, because they helped make me aware of perspective, and it's a great coping tool.
I realize I'm preaching to the choir, but maybe you know somebody that would benefit from learning about perspective?
