Good evening all. 36F for the start, overcast, light wind. Not a lot of wind, overcast all day, high temp 48F. Main thing was run to town for groceries and other errands. Did some tidy up around wood pile, and restock the wood on the back porch.
Drew, sounds like you have a productive day.Nice looking steak. BTW Formica will work great, try to talk to lowes or HD about buying someone's unusable countertop.
Roy hope you are feeling better, it is my experience that it takes a bad cough to draw complaints from co-workers.
RNG good luck getting your gate worked out.
prayers for all.

Not sure of whether to put formica down or to do stainless steel. I'm guessing the latter
is pretty expensive but? Anyone made a garden/potting shed bench?

Drew, if you want to use steel, a sheet of galvanised steel on top of ply (or anything else flat) makes a perfect surface for potting up. My dad had the same sheet on his greenhouse bench for decades and I have now covered my wife's outside potting bench with galvanised. Much cheaper than stainless - and you won't get dazzled when the sun shines :)

We had a dull day yesterday and the same today. Low cloud prevents seeing anything more than a field away, quite a pleasant cosy feeling really, especially when getting back inside to the woodburner.

Wasn't quite as nice having to drive in the mist when I went to the next market town, where the tractor dealer has a small branch store. The Iseki was a few litres short on hydraulic oil after it's first 50hr service and I wouldn't want to be guilty of tractor cruelty by not being able to see anything in the sight glass.

I plan to hook up the 3 point log splitter to the 55Hp tractor today and cleanup some rounds from last year. I built a "parking stand", for the splitter, out of PT 2x6's last fall and I'm going to see if I can just back tractor up beside it, hook up hydraulic hoses, and operate without actually mounting it on the tractor.

Will be interesting to hear how that works out Rick. I often find that when I already have something on the 3pt, I revert to splitting a few rings with wedges/maul, rather than taking the time to take everything off and then having to put it on again.

JB, I would have mixed feeling about setting a record for Ravens. A few have moved in on the other side of the hill, where a friend farms. Foxes and crows used to be the biggest danger to lambs born outside, but at least the worst culprits can be shot. Not so with Ravens, they are impressive but vicious birds and it is not legal to kill them in this country. He says there is nothing more pitiful than seeing a newborn lamb with blood trickling out of it's mouth, as he has come to learn that when he gets to it, he will find a Raven has cut it's tongue out.

Thanks for the welcome. Been reading for a while, just didn稚 post.

It is 22 and supposed to go to 32 today. Looks like snow tomorrow, but gonna miss that....I hope. Another road trip.....

Yes I work for a company that makes a very specific type of underground mining machine. The machine is called a scaler and is used in hard rack mines to scrape off loose material to make the heading safe. I had to deliver a new one and help diagnose a problem with an older one. It was a LONG day.

Hopefully it is an easy day today......tomorrow i am off to FL to help a young motorcycle racer Saturday night. His dad asked me last summer to help. Was reluctant to come out of retirement. I tried a few races and turns out the kid and I think more alike than different about racing. So going to help kick off 2019. Need to get ready for the Bike Week races in March
