Morning all! My weather by hr shows little rain, then i look at the radar and it looks like we will get pounded. Got to drive home today, and they won't want to leave till afternoon.
Eric, first programming was 6502 assembly and Fortran sometime around 1980.

Good Monday morning all, New Year's Eve, 2018. Your time zone may vary for sure.
warmer day today, 51 going to 65F.
So much moisture in the air have no idea if showers will come but today will be an outside day for sure.
Perfect weather to work outside and not get sweat soaked.

I need to go look at fencing at Lowes, forgot that yesterday, for something to hide the big propane tank behind my house.
Want an opaque/solid wall. Thought about natural wood, my favorite, but everything else is white. That would mean a big white wall right behind my house.
So...do I want to look at wood or white. Hmmmmmmmm.

I'd love for Don to come build a cool masonry wall with a turtle in the center.
hey, when you live on Terrapin Track Road, when in Rome...

close friends gave me beautiful turtle planter, plenty of shady spots here where moss and lichens can grow.
Didn't tell him it got chipped in transit, small chip, I can fix. Have all kinds of rubberized paints, my late wife
had dozens of yard critters that constantly needed maintenance. In this case a satin dark brown will fix the spot.
Kind of junky plaster of paris fake concrete stuff, but maybe it took a serious whack in shipping. Not all that well packed.
Turtle had a hard time getting here, will fix him up and see if the ladies in the garden club can offer advice for plants.
A man asking a woman for advice. Well can you imagine...:D

44° here this morning with forecast to 64° this afternoon. Should be only partly cloudy after a cold damp weekend.

Yesterday was an energy conservation day ...... got to watch an entire Texans game as they beat the Jaguars 20-3. Colts coming to visit next weekend.

Still way to soft for tractors to get off of roads and driveways so ...... I'm planning a day in the workshop. The shop is in need of an overdue cleanup.

Don, congratulations on finding the extra, super, secret Tractor Club!

May hookup the 3-point splitter to the 55 hp tractor and cleanup a woodpile as well.

Hoping for an excellent day and very Happy New Years to everyone. We're staying home for it, don't remember the last time we went out to celebrate.

Prayers to all.

For those on TBN that have dabbled in a little programming, what is the first computer language you learned ?

Basic was the only one I ever learned or used.

40 degrees this morning, going for a high of 61. And since it appears that today there will be no more precipitation, I closed the books on my 2018 list.:) So for 2018, I had on day (1/11/18) with just a trace of snow, one day (2/11/2018) with a little sleet, one day (4/13/2018) with a little hail. Overall, I got some rain on 75 days of the year for a total of 55.36". Supposedly the normal amount here should be 30.08". The heaviest rain was in Feb., Aug., Sept., and Oct. with no measurable rain in July (only a trace on the 30th). My rain gauge overflowed on 9/21/2018.

And now today is my wife's 75th birthday. So I'll be taking her to pick up an old friend and neighbor from our pre-retirement days, who turned 90 this past week. And I'll take them out to eat at the Olive Garden; long the favorite of both of these gals.

Happy Birthday to Mrs. Bird! Make sure she gets a big dessert.

that's a lot more rain than normal Bird, and I bet for a bunch of others, myself included.

BASIC and Rocky Mountain BASIC (which was used for a CMM)…both DOS based, of course...I was more of a dabbler then a programmer. Also, when going to community college in the early 1980's, I took a computer class which required a bit of binary.

I mentioned, in one of yesterday's post, I ordered a pair of "Yaktrax Diamond Grip All-Surface Traction Cleats for Walking on Ice and Snow" (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BZHFA88/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). They should be delivered today and, per the weather forecast, I'll have an opportunity to try them out tomorrow morning.
While typing this, I remember I have to go out and spray my snow blower(s) chutes today...

The day is starting out at 2°, yesterday was windy and it started snowing about noon. It looks like we end up with about 6 inches. Today is going to be mostly cloudy with chance of snow showers and a high in the low teens.

I'll get out and do the driveway some time this morning. We are invited to dinner and fireworks at a neighbors house tonight. May have to put chains on the truck to get up there. I'm not sure if I want to do that or just stay home. I'll see if someone clear's the road to the top of the hill.

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year. With good health and happiness.
CWB.
