No, it was very much a red fox, just big and it looked like someone sewed a coyote rear end on it. ???? Got me puzzled. Ed

It really sounds like a male red wolf described to a Tee. I saw one dead on the side of 66 just east of Front Royal in the fall.

Randy- Red Wolves are really rare, but Ed and you are "in theory" w/i their historic range. I've never seen one; maybe in some zoo somewhere. I am happy to see and/or hear bobcats nowadays. There's an ongoing debate going on out this way as to whether or not we get occasional visits by mountain lions, lynx, and timber wolves. Fresh roadkill as "proof" works for me.

We get coy-wolves around here. They can get ~German Shepard in size. We had 3 local residents here last year. When they started howling and yipping one would think that there were a dozen. Their call is a mix of wolf howl and coyote yip; eerie in the dead of night. cool: Based on some of the descriptions given it could be Ed's sighting.

Good evening to all! Dry, dry, and more dry. Wind, windy, and more wind! Low temp was around 40, went up to 68, now just breezy. No wind forecast for next few days, temps climbing into the low 80's by Sunday. No precip forecast but what else is new!

Well, continued to not be able to bear weight on the knee again this morning, still swollen. Went for Dr's appt today. Had to stop 3 times while walking across the giant parking lot. They took a few X-rays, then the doc manipulated the knee/leg inflicting more pain. He said: it's really swollen, I said no-duh! He said he was going to aspirate the fluid out....I know what that entails... I won't go into great detail, but it involved using a very large needle. He took out 60+CC's of bloody fluid. Hurt like h**l even w/ lidocaine for numbing. He also injected some cortisone. Now back on rest, elevation, and ice. No PT next week, follow up in 10 days. Oh well. He said this sometimes occurs, if it doesn't get better in a week, we'll discuss then.

Wow, had a bunch of catching up to do...

Randy, glad you're feeling better and getting over the pneumonia.

Don and Kyle, I wish we had wild berries like you guys. It's way to dry here, even the weeds won't grow! Do you guys ever pick, containerize, and freeze for a later date? Sure would make a nice winter treat!

Jay, why didn't you catch her? it's always the simplest things that get us hurt! At least I can say I never had a pair of flip flops on my feet---EVER! Even as a youngster. I hope Peg can recover quickly. Hope you can maintain your sanity....for that matter, I hope you both can! Question: since the wifey wears flip flops, do you wear clogs?:D:laughing:

PJ, it is amazing how new tires do that to the ride? I think it's because they wear over a greater period of time and we just don't realize how the ride quality has deteriorated as much as it has.

David, glad to hear that you guys are safe. Also glad that Sophie is feeling better!

Ed, good luck with the plumbing, I too also hate plumbing work. It never fails that I need some obscure part / fitting that requires going into town , to multiple places, because everyone needed the same fitting. Anyway, I hope your project goes well!

Drew, make sure you keep that eastern snake out there in the east. Garden is looking good.. You were making my mouth water when you were talking about the peas!

Multiple prayers and thoughts out today! Everyone have a great weekend

".... to aspirate the fluid out."- Ted

It always amazed me just how fast it swelled and how large the old knee got when it got aggravated.:eek: The relief that I felt after the "procedure" the first time was so great that I almost hugged the doctor. It reads to me that your MCL is telling you to slow down. Get that MCL mad enough and it will start talking to the ACL about mutiny on board. Please take care.

No I had a pair of those rubber chrocs(sp?) things. Ugly as the Devil, were not comfortable, and did not fit well = I donated them to some charity in short order. A wooden sabot would probably work just as well.

I was out of range when she hit and rolled. It happened on carpet too; there was no St. B. speed bump; I can understand what happened if she slipped on dog drool in the kitchen. She's still wearing those :censored: flip-flops too.

Things are looking worse in Hawaii. I hope everyone out there is out of harm's way.

Good evening all. 70F at the start of the day, raining with thunder. Not a lot of wind. Temp dropped to 61F then rose to 74F after rain quit. .9 inch rain in the gauge after rain quit for yesterday and today. Wind did stay down today. Slow start due to rain :). Went to town, bought new washing machine for wife, finished paperwork on selling boat, looked for tree rings unsuccessfully, and had dinner. After dinner took golf cart to driving range and prepped for tomorrow.
David glad no hot time in store for you and wife can skip shot:thumbsup:
LS sorry about the setback sounds like a lot of fluid on the knee:thumbdown:
Jay hope you get the rain without the excitement. Also that wife will recover quickly with minimal "supervision" :D
Randy finish your recovery!!

Prayer for all

The sun was out early today and the wireless thermometer was telling me even before breakfast that I ought to go open up the greenhouse before the seedlings got prematurely cooked.

LS, you have a great excuse to put your feet up and take it easy, without any feelings of guilt at what isn't getting done. I'm almost jealous, though I guess after a few hours, let alone days, the novelty of that begins to wear off, as I imagine you have already found out. Take care.

David, zone 8 looks about the best place for a house. Was it good luck, or did you choose that zone with lava flow in mind ? Dogs look to be zoned out.

Poured first cup of coffee. 46° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 79° with mix of sun and clouds. Got one section of paves leveled yesterday. Found another area that needs leveling. Hope to work on that today. Time to cut lawn for first time this year. That should fill the day up.

David S, hope all you have is some spilled water. When we were in CA a few years ago. A 5.1 earthquake hit close by us. Thought our motorhome was going to fall off it's jack pads.

LS, take care of that knee.

Jay, I am sure Mrs Jay will heal well if you follow her supervision.

Prayer for those in need.

Good Morning All.

JB, in my part of northeastern NC when I was growing up, we had a population of red wolves near the edges of the Dismal Swamp in the Hale’s Lake area, there was no lake by the way. Never quite got that. The extinct wolves were very much not.

That pool is wild David!
