Woe is us.
We were skunked.
Bad internal EFI battery in snowblower, so no fuel.
Laid the parts out again for shed, and sure enough, too many of one part and not enough
of another. No way to build with parts sent.

Paul made a very neat driveway marker driver. I have a special long drill and a rubber mallet I use, but his gizmo
is a great solution.

am waiting for wind to die down, at least a little, so I can go suck up some more leaves. Ton of leaves blown onto my lawn from
neighbor's, luck of the draw, which way the wind goes.

Wow - the three Amigos!

I
With only a half hour left in the day, I suppose it’s too late for a “Good Morning” unless I wait another 30 minutes.

At any rate it was a cold and windy day. Had a nice, but chilly visit with Drew and Ken. Sadly for Drew, we only confirmed what he already knew. I’m not sure that I would ever get a small engine with EFI if it relied on a proprietary battery like this one did.
Picking up the shed panels in the wind was interesting as well. It’s a good thing that I had that additional Covid mass to deal with them.
When I got home, a couple of band mates came over and we spent the afternoon doing some tracking and overdubs on a song that we have been working on.

17° right now...high in the mid-30's, chance of snow showers.
Did clean off the walks, deck and drive yesterday. Not much going on today except eat leftovers from Thanksgiving...

Real drag about Drew's snow blower battery. IIRC, this is a new machine? I hope it's under warranty. It's great to know there's TBN members willing to help each others out...Kudos to the team!

Also, the shed...what a frustrating thing!!
Maybe it's time to go another direction:

Poured first cup of coffee. 27° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 35° with cloudy skies. Got about 4" of snow yesterday. Cleaned walkways around 3 o'clock. Went out 2 hour later and it needed cleaning again. Will get at that today. Got tractor ready for winter. Snow blade is on and all joints greased. It will get used later today. Put Christmas tree up today.
Finished making and installing pole rack for Mule. No more pole sticking out side of mule waiting to get caught on something.

Good morning all.
warmer day today, going up to high 40s.
Neighbors were out sucking up leaves late yesterday, winds were blowing them everywhere, figured I'd wait until this afternoon
and then hopefully make one more pass with bagger.

Sure was nice to have my TBN buddies over to help yesterday. Ken may be a marketing exec but his background is an EE, which is why
he and Paul could discuss all kinds of technical things. Paul is a McGyver that can do just about anything. They both pulled out their multimeters and
confirmed battery wasn't charging in snowblower so EFI would not pump gas. Like Paul said, why didn't they just put a simple motorcycle battery in there that charged
up when motor ran. Instead they have an internal battery that needs an external battery charger attached. Seems like an unfinished design and sure not worth the extra
400 bucks for this motor.

I had about four layers of clothes on yesterday and that wind still felt cold.

Looked at cordless snowblowers online last night, seems EGO is still the top dog here. I just hate buying into another battery system but no
choice here. 445 bucks for a spare battery.

I'm told there is an Amish shed builder that visits local farm market every year, about a mile from my home. I think that's where I'm headed next.

I have one xmas present to build, an outdoor thermometer and rain gauge I'm going to mount on a piece of cedar for a friend.

off to Meeting this morning, then home to chase leaves around

I've had good experience with EGO. The snow blower is, as written in an earlier post, was one of the first generation which has a plastic auger and not self-propelled. It came with 2 7.5 A/h batteries which last quite a while. Downside of these bigger batteries is the weight, so I don't use them in my string trimmer, chain saw or pole saw. I use 5.0 A/h batteries in those. Any battery will work in any of the EGO tools.
Even with the plastic auger, it does pretty good. I've cleared powder and some wet icy snow with no breakage...only difference has been the wet snow doesn't throw as far
However, if you already have a battery tool, see if the manufacturer sells a snow blower before you go EGO. I had the same issue (multiple batteries and chargers) so I sold some and have limited myself to EGO and DeWalt...and one Ryobi which I'd like to sell and it with a DeWalt unit (Impact Gun).
I want to replace my little snow blower with one of their newer self-propelled ones. Since I already have the batteries, I'd buy the bare tool which save a couple hundred dollars. Right now, it's tough to find one though, so good luck if you go for an EGO blower

If you haven't been to the Green Dragon yet, it's worth a visit. Watch out for the Amish buggies in Lancaster County...and definitely try the funnel cake!!
You can check out some of the sheds before you buy...

I've found that it helps to put a cup under the spout of a Keurig.
Good morning Chuck. Done a little mopping lately?...
My coffeemaker overflowed its grinds again this morning because Gevalia ground coffee is super fine and seems to clog
up the works. Tastes good, just a mess to clean up. Need to remember not to buy that again.

13F sun cloud mix low 30's for high.

Outside chores done E muffin time.
Plans for today...check game cams, couple wheel barrow loads wood to basement, watch some football...maybe,and putter.

Enjoy the day all.

36 and sunny...feels warmer outside since no wind...going to 58.

Was outside feeding birds a few minutes ago when I saw a male marsh hawk cruising over the tall field grass...then suddenly a Merlin swept down from the nearby maple above some of the bird feeders and attacked it...marsh hawk flew off, and then I walked toward the Merlin until it left...this Merlin actually flew up under our front porch chasing a bird earlier this week, did a fast figure 8 and left without any perceived deceleration. Merlins are smaller but much faster than marsh hawks.

Ron, great job on your Mule rack...I like the chauffer you have, too.

Buppies, sounds like a nice day.

One of our sons and his wife came to stay with us yesterday...were at her parents for Thanksgiving, and now here for a night before returning to North Carolina today. They are my coffee roasting "judges" so I'll get some feedback when they get up. I have 7 beans for them to try or take home.

Good morning, low temp 7 and going to a high of 23°F. Wind E 7 mph. 30% chance of flurries.

The neighbour ladys trailer load of scrap wood waiting for me to unload and has been since last week, didn't have the loot to go to the dump, but I do now. This ought to be fun getting it all out. It's a good thing I've got help.

After the dump run I think it will be an energy conservation day.

Nice sunrise, Ron.

I watched all 5 disks of the Horatio Hornblower series yesterday, not a bad time waster, but as far as I can see it isn't very realistic.

Have a safe day all

Good Morning!!!! 51F @ 5:30AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 67F. Winds light and variable.
We're back to no rain in the 10-day. Guess it was nice while it lasted...o_O

Not much of a coffee drinker anymore, but do folks still use the Melita pour over filters? Seems like a simple way of doing things.

No warranty coverage for the battery problem, Drew? Sadly, I wasn't impressed with Arien's warranty department on my splitter. Said they'd get right on it, then did nothing. Could you extend the battery leads and hook them to an external conventional battery?

All that snow looks c-c-cold! I wouldn't mind if you all kept it east of here!

Will you partner with neighbors again in the garden, David?

Washed two motorcycles yesterday, then used the Makita blower to dry them off. Didn't seem to work as well as compressed air, though it was a lot quieter.

Will probably get started dragging downed trees over to the wood lot today. Need to get it done before the ground gets soft, assuming it will eventually rain at some point. Should probably weld a chain hook onto the box blade before I get started, just to make things a bit more convenient.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their long weekend.

Good morning! Super sunny Sunday, 53˚F heading to the mid 60s. My wife is already planning hikes after knee surgery. Today's weather would be perfect. The insurance sent an email that I will be covered, from the information the DR. sent them for pre approval. Good to know before.

Looks like the morning group has motorcycle repair, mule bars, garden tilling and coffee bean roasting perfected but needs some more experience on sheds, snowblowers and coffee brewing machines. Hang in there gang.

Roy you probably recognize the people in Drew's pic not from the Post office but from the Santa Clauses in the mall.

Good morning! 36 now and likely as warm as it will get. Slight chance of a dusting of snow tonight. Got a dusting last night, it is already gone.

I likely need to drag my snow blower out of it’s slumber, service it, and install the cab. I know the chance of needing it is increasing. Maybe this afternoon.

Realized that we were out of apple juice as I was prepping the turkey for the smoker. Popped it in, ran to town quick to get some apple juice for the water pan. There was a road kill deer with 4 buzzards feasting on it. They flew when I slowed down as I got near the carcass. One flew directly into the grill of the truck. It flopped on the side of the road with it’s wings spread out. The grill is cracked in multiple places. When I came back by, the buzzard was curled up in a ball, his 3 buddies were sitting on a nearby roof watching.

When I got home, wife said the farmer near by called and had another free load of wood. Great, grabbed the trailer and went to pick it up. Decided to get gas, drove by the buzzard strike….buzzard and his 3 buddies were gone….sheesh

The trailer is overloaded again. There was so much wood had to load some of it in the truck. Parked the trailer then used the hitch hauler to move the wood in the truck. It did what I needed it to.

Puttered in the garage waiting for the turkey to finish. Cleaned more stuff in the ultrasonic cleaner. Amazing how well it cleans.

Supper was very good. Turkey was outstanding.

A proprietary battery in a gas engine? Are kidding me? Who was the genius that came up with that bright idea. I think I would be researching who has come up with a non-proprietary solution. I bet there is one.

One year ago today, I spent the day on the couch. Pretty much the same deal as the day before. Tried to use the iPad and couldn’t concentrate. Watched back to back episodes of Bad Boyz and Bad Boyz II or whatever they called the sequel. I remember thinking that was 4 hours of my life I would never get back. I considered having my wife take me to the emergency room but didn’t. I always wonder if 1 day sooner would have made a difference. Tried to sleep on the couch, that didn’t go well. I struggled to go upstairs and get in bed. Absolutely no energy to get up the steps. That would be the last night I would sleep in our bed until almost January.

Everyone stay safe out there!
