My brother Kenny passed away about 2AM Saturday. His service is tomorrow at noon. We took mom down Thursday and I got to spend time with him and mom stayed down and spent time with him on both Thursday and Friday. The three of us brothers spent a couple of hours talking Thursday afternoon, ken would chime in from time to time and it was obvious that his mind was better than his body. That was the first time the three of us were in a room together in the eight years since Ken's wife Carol died. Probably the second time in twenty years, we all lived within 3 hours at most. Why do families allow that to happen?
Add one to the December count, my dad died December 21, 1964, incidentally Ken's 18th birthday. My wife's dad died almost exactly 30 years later on Dec. 20, 1994, Kenny's wife died exactly 10 years after that on Dec. 20, 2004. My grandmother on dad's side died Dec.28 1992, and now Ken on December 8.
Somehow I still enjoy Christmas, it transcends the sadness and in fact shows us the path to heaven Jesus was sent to Create for us.
We are here but short time, eternity is a bit longer.

I wish to extend my most sincere condolences in regards to your loss and the effect on your entire Family. This comes from th e"very bottom of my Heart and Soul".

we have few flurries after the snowstorm and 20 degrees. its going to top out at 29 today.i will be plowing snow today it looks like we have 5-6 inches of the white stuff.

57 here, headed for low 60's. Incredible weather for December in Michigan. It's been raining for days, if it had been colder, we would be up to our butts in snow.

Well, we're about as packed up as we're going to be. Now we need the moving van (due in Wednesday morning). We also need confirmation on the rental house! The rental agent had been out sick the last week. I talked to the home owner (military man currently stationed in Washington State) and he was OK with it. If the rental agent doesn't get things squared away by Tuesday, we're going to have a major problem.

The last couple weeks have been extremely stressful. Moving is bad enough...but when you add selling a house at the same time...it's a *****! I haven't been happy with my realtor. She's been trying to have me install septic tank risers (which are not required yet, but soon will be) and have her husband do the work. This is borderline unethical (at best)...but I'm not sure if it's something I can use to void her contract without getting sued.

First dusting of snow this winter. We had 1/2" to 3/4" last night with 24 F this morning.

Toppop: You have our sympathy and prayers. I'm so sorry to hear of your brother's passing. I'll hug my brother a little tighter when I see him later this week. We are the only ones left from my immediate family.
