RIP Troy Gentry and Don Williams.

Not being much into modern country, I'd never heard Troy Gentry...Don Williams, one of my favorites. I'm sorry to read about both of them passing.

About 50 right now...high in the low 60's.

Other then a dump run, then pick up and re-install a deck door...can't say I have any other particular plans.

Roy, it's Saturday, go back to bed...
I took too long a nap yesterday afternoon and therefore am enjoying my first cup of coffee at 3:24
maybe I'll go back to bed...

a nippy 59 degrees out going up to only 78 today.
Definitely going to work outside today

If Irma goes where they think it will now, very odd path going inland, against the prevailing winds. Well, sorry for those inland but I'm thankful
it isn't coming up the coast.

Driving back to NC yesterday there were long lines of cars, trucks and rvs headed North on I-95. Today it must be just crazy out there.

Good morning, expecting more rain all day today, although it would be petty to complain again about our lost summer after all the flooding in Texas and what Irma is doing.

Thanks to all who made good suggestions on what to do with the concrete - and for those less practical answers that were a good laugh.

farmer, will you need to uprate the ventilation vans if you have windows in the barn that catch the sun, or will you be adding value by producing roasted chicken ?

In between the showers yesterday I checked out how my welding table is doing after a year of standing outside in the wet. The top is minimalist, with a couple of T shaped slats that I can slide to where I need support in the middle and two flat plates at each end which are fastened to the frame by countersunk machine screws. Painting these wasn't an option as they need to conduct a hefty current, so instead I had wiped them over with ACF-50 and hoped for the best. I heard it was good stuff, but even so was pleasantly surprised to take out the screws, turn the plates over and find hardly a trace of rust on the bare metal beneath.
The curious side in me now wants to only wipe one side with ACF-50 and try the other side with something else for comparison, but another part of my brain is telling me I've found something that works well, takes less than a minute to apply and leaves no mess, so just use it. Contentment is a wonderful feeling and seems to be much more plentiful the older I get.:)

Lear Chemical Research Corporation
and contentment will continue each time you see that welding table not covered in rust.
did you have a tarp over it Eric?
I hope they pay you a million pounds to make a nice advertisement; and we'll be able to see Eric in his new Fendt tractor
he bought with the royalties.
Ah contentment.
Besides, if you get a buddy seat and take your wife along, that could be great fun.
Or your dog. Actually, I think a 4 year old boy or girl would be best. At our age, a grandchild.
Life should be full of wows.

Good morning! 59˚ and dark. My brother came down to visit Dad and to help me do some maintenance at Mom's house. Yesterday we cleaned Harvey limbs from the yard and mowed/weedeat/trimmed it and a few other chores. Today we will do an early start on sealing the chimney.

Dad's tractor battery ( a weird big one with 6 water filler caps) showed 12.2 v before charging it. It now shows 13.4 v after a day on the 6amp charger - any idea what a full charge is suppose to be?

No tarp over the table Drew, just left out in the elements. Before they give me a cent for the endorsement, I should make it clear that only the underside survived the year rust free with one wipe over with the magic fluid, the top gets more regular wipes when I clear off the accumulated grinding and welding crud.

So you reckon I could be in for a big Fendt ? Nice thought but no thanks - my diesel storage tank is way too small to quench the thirst of their huge hydro static transmissions :)
Health and Safety people would also be out to prosecute me if I took the grandson along - in the UK you are no longer allowed to take children under 13 on a tractor, as too many kids have got killed and injured falling under wheels.

12.7 volt is a fully charged battery. You need to take that reading after disconnecting charger for 1 hour or more. 13.4 is a maintaining voltage. But will boil away water over a period of time. 13.0 would be a better maintain voltage. For reference a discharged battery is 12.0 volts.
