Mama just called with the news that my cousin's husband has died. They live in Rome Ga but will be coming home for the burying. Already planned on going to Panama City tomorrow, so I have to cut the grass at our graveyard this afternoon.

I'm so sorry to hear that. You and your family will be in my prayers tonight (if that's alright).

Thanks for the kind words. My cousin, Steve Sharp was a pretty good fellow. They lived down here very briefly. I'll tell a funny story about them moving back to Rome Ga in the middle of the night later on. His wife [my 1st cousin] and I are the same age, 52. He can't be but four of five years older. About ten years ago he had a really bad heart attack. I haven't talked to anyone from up there, but I would assume it was his heart.

I spent all afternoon working at the graveyard. My handyman and his young helper came down and pitched in when they finish the cement for the front porch steps. It had been needing cutting and trimming for a couple of weeks, so it was a job of work. But it was grown up in the little white wildflowers more than anything else. That is why I hadn't cut it sooner.

We used the Yard King 22 hp 46" & Husqvarna YTH 24-48 riders, a Troy-Bilt 675 EX 190 electric start self-propelled push mower, and an old Solo 140 string trimmer.

We also took down an old barb wire fence. Back when we put in the graveyard, we just took half an acre out of Uncle James' hayfield. The old fence was right up behind the last row of graves, and it made trimming behind them hard. Years later after the hayfield had been planted in pines, my Dad and I took it on ourselves to tear down that fence to give us more room. Since my cousin lived away, we didn't bother to ask her about it. We just put up a new fence, and planted Leland Cypress along two sides of the graveyard. The next time she came to Fl, she wasn't real happy we had taken in a little of her land.
This was about fourteen or fifteen years ago. The trees have really grown and are looking good. Today I found out my cousin wants Steve to be buried on the other side of her parents, away from the road. So she is having three of the tallest trees pushed up to extend the graveyard further back, onto her land. [the Leland's are on her side of the line] There is maybe seven or eight trees along each side, so with the three out, it will look snaggletoothed.
But I doubt any of the occupants will complain.
Her friend is coming in the morning with his dozer to push the trees. That's why I went ahead and took the fence down. Well that, and the fact it was my posts and wire. When we get back from Panama City tomorrow afternoon, I will find out how it looks.

Good mornin' folks.

It's another warm day here with cloudy skies and a high pollen count.

Going to be a very boring day today so nothing worth mentioning.

Have a good one guys.

Sam, I love the idea about keeping your pfd's for this rain...

did a little picking yesterday, one row of potatoes and the first good batch of cucumbers.

rain is on its way, may try to get a little mowing in before hand, but I think it will beat me here.

Another thunderstorm rolled through over night. Going to have to sell the lawnmowers and buy a boat as the lawn is turning into Lake Baker.:confused2:;)

Good morning! Weather report from the desert - Hot and dry heading to the 100's. Farmers are starting to feed their winter round bales to their cattle.

Used 28k gallons of water last month on this sand land and just have a small patch of green around the house and just a few vegetables from the garden. It's almost getting to the point of just saving the trees and replant grasses next year.

We need a tropical depression/Hurricane to head this way, however the old timers around here say that there has never been a hurricane that dropped a significant amount of water on this county.

Another ugly day, it looks like...
68 now, high of 82 predicted along with a 60% chance of rain.
Wife and I spent a pleasant day (on Tuesday) with her sister and BIL in Lebanon. He's a tractor buff too. He has an old Deere tricycle type tractor and a mid to late 50's Ford. Both are restored and used in parades locally.
The universal joint came in for my reverser linkage, so I'll pick that up today. I'm not sure if I can push the roll pins (holding the universal on the linkage) out in place. I hope so since I don't want to disassemble any more then I have to.
Even when I get this done, it's not going to be any mowing until the lawn dries up some...really humid so it's not drying very quickly.

Overcast and humid, got a couple of somewhat unexpected showers late day and evening, they were popping up all over, you could stand and watch the thunderheads start climbing all around. Nature is beautiful.

Good morning everyone, and what a blessed morning it would be. Seldom poster to this thread, but I do read it daily.

I am not working today, as I have the awesome privilege of grandson sitting. As you can tell - might have some help :)

He is my little buddy, so proud of him!
