I'm another who loves fall. Yesterday was really nice. I probably messed up by not spending some time in the hammock in the backyard. You know there won't be all that many afternoons that nice this year.

Buppies...you and your bride stay safe and heathy.

55°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 76° today. Looks like we'll get up near 90° on Saturday, before dropping back to the 60s and 70s next week.

Played with the dogs a bit yesterday evening after work (Border Collies will play you to death if you let them), took out the trash and walked the can down to the road, cleaned some eggs, then stayed up way too late puttering in my studio. Kind of dragging a bit this morning.

Hope Jay is OK. Went stalking on his profile yesterday and saw that he hasn't been active on here since 15 July. Maybe he just needed a break.

Good morning to all! Low of 52, going for 83 today. Slight chance of a popup t-storm, but likely no rain at all. We are almost 6" below average, whinch isn't a lot to begin with.

Drew, congrats on selling the RV. One cannot argue about getting near retail!

Buppies, sorry to hear you had to shut down.... Hopefully you won't fall too far behind.

Ron, interesting pic of the black squirrel.... why do you say it is lucky to survive? Easier to get picked off?

Got the tractor transmission all filled.... a very slow process indeed. Put in about 4 oz, wait 10 minutes for it to seep in, pour in another 4 oz, wait... repeat numerous times until 2 3/4 quarts are put in.....

Then, since everything was working out good putting the tractor all back together, Murphy had to stop by..... the last thing to mount back up was the fuel pump .... when I was handling / pushing back into place (fighting the hardened gas hoses) , one of the plastic nipples broke off the plastic pump housing......great! As I was then taking off the output hose, that nipple broke off too! All the plastic on the whole pump became so brittle, I could probably crumble the whole pump with my hand! A new metal one is on the way! At least it's a 5 minute install when it gets here.

Today I am going into town to get some hydraulic hoses made for the new top link. The neighbor with the LS tractor is going with.... he is going to get an extension made for one of his BH quick connects. It is in a spot almost under the seat on the side of the transmission/tank. It is really hard to get to it in a confined space. I hope they cam come up with a solution!

Maybe stop at HF if we have some time. Either this afternoon or tomorrow, we are going to do his 50 hour service (about 10 hours overdue). I hope we don't have too much of a fight getting the filters of for the first time!

Everyone have a great day! I have to go get some hose measurements now before we leave for the big city!

49° early, 65° now and around 80° later. Grandson has a ballgame this evening so I’ll be going there if all goes well.
Outdoor club meeting last night, a little cool but not bad.
I repaired a small ramp on one building yesterday, needed a board replaced. Today is FaceTime with mom day, I hope she’s more alert than last couple of times. It’s looking more and more like a slow, take it easy day.

Most common reason is road kill. Speed limit on gravel road in front of my house is 55 mph. Red Tail Hawks are always on the look out for an easy meal.

Good Morning!!!! 65F @ 5:30AM. Mainly sunny. High 88F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
AQI 78 and 241, inside and out. Overnight the wind reverses and runs down canyon, bringing the smoke with it. Yesterday afternoon the southern winds improved things to push AQI into the single digits, like a normal blue sky day. The firefighters are fighting fire with fire, burning lots of ground in a controlled fashion in hopes of starving the three hot spots into submission. There will be smoke in the sky until they can finish, and even then, a southwesterly wind will bring in smoke from the August Complex, which as reached almost 900,000 acres.

Ran a bunch of checks on the van yesterday, but still no smoking gun. I'm going to replace most all the vacuum lines, as several of them are a little on the large side and are not tight where they connect. So far, though, I'm not seeing a signal from the engine management computer that trips the solenoid providing vacuum to the EGR valve, so one of the things being monitored by the EMU isn't getting through. More wire tracing is in my near future. Years ago, a friend gave me a vacuum pump, and it has sat on the shelf unused ever since. Until yesterday, when I pulled it out, dusted it off, and turned it on for the first time. I was rewarded with a pretty good suck, and the ability to use the vacuum gauge on it to check for intake manifold vacuum at the proper places. I also found out why his company was throwing it out: The little in line hand switch is a little balky, so it'll get the DeOxIt treatment today.

While I was dragging my feet, waiting on the smoke to clear yesterday, I digitized a couple of CDs. One was from Jimmy Buffett, and had many tracks off his now out of print first album. All but one track could be found on other albums I already had, and I was able to snag the missing cut from a video someone had posted on YouTube. All of them are made with acoustic instruments, and show his talent for story telling was well established right from the beginning of his recording career. Anyway, made copies of each track on "Down To Earth", edited the meta data appropriately, and now have a home brewed copy of that first album. Just waiting for a smoke free evening on the back patio to properly enjoy it.

From the looks of this morning's news, someone set the campground across the canyon on fire again last night. Several acres got BBQed, crews are still over there mopping up. Less than a mile away, way too close.

Happy Hump Day, folks!!!!

The best deal I've found for vacuum tubing is a co. named Boost Controller. I bought 3mm silicone tube for just under $1.00 a foot. The Suzuki mini trucks have miles of the stuff and its always leaking. I bought this stuff 4 or 5 years ago and it still seems tight and flexible as new. Hope this helps.

drove half hour to next town over to get to Harbor Freight.
Realized at door no wallet in my pants.
No wallet in car.
Drove all the way home and no wallet in rv.
Now I'm starting to panic...
Called drycleaner where I took wash and fold this morning.
Oh yes sir, we have your wallet and your charge cards.
:thumbsup::dance1:
and they hadn't run my pants through the washer yet either.
Saved....
thank goodness for observant, and honest folks.

never did get to HF but did pick up some boxes at Office Depot and some car wax at auto parts place.
Headed out side to do a little waxing on a cool cloudy day before it warms up more.

Good Morning.

65F and sunny @ 12:00, high headed up to 78F. Another beautiful day.

First item on the agenda will be to order some Irish Spring bar soap to use as deer repellent ... to keep them from eating up our hard work ...

Then finish up weed whipping the planting area (circle) in front of the garage.

Then finish up mowing, down here around the house and up in the compost/wood lot.

After that remove MMM and check sprayer to see whether the pump is still working and functional. If so mix a batch of Round Up and maybe do some spraying.

If not, mount loader and box blade and do some more transplanting.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

I also like the early Buffet stuff the best, I like certain tracks of all the albums liken Barometer Soup, but overall I enjoy the pre 1980 stuff the most. Saw him in concert at what was then Nissan Pavilion, now Jiffy Lube alive I believe, in Manassas , VA in 1995. Best show of the thirty or so I’ve seen. Three rows back from the orchestra pit.

Be safe
Have a great day

For the interested. This is my basic plan for the caretaker unit. I’m not that good with the program, but subject to execution hope it comes out close to concept.

definitely. I was thinking as I drove how I was going to sound credible to an officer if that happened.

just signed up for Comcast cable tv, internet and VOIP home phone. 150 bucks a month for their cheapest product.
Wow...Going to shop around in first month, see if I can do better.
At least Comcast offers to provide my cell coverage for less, using the same Verizon service. Not going to fuss with that until I am settled in.

Glad you found your wallet.
$150 for Comcast Triple Play is what it cost me. I have Cable, Internet and home security. Plus I have 2 phones on their cellular plan. Another $50. Mostly because I am buying a new phone. Around here Comcast/Xfinity is the best service. I have my own modem and router. I have no home phone.
Other services around here are AT&T and Frontier. Most that change to save a few $ end up back on Comcast.

My Comcast cell phone bill for two lines is usually $28, one month was $40 and one was $15. I’ve been in for a little over three years.
