ALL: I've heard more than a few of you have mentioned posting photos/pictures is an issue and yes it's a challenge, but I think I've kinda got it figured out now. with the help of a few helpful members who know more than a little about this I was able to not only post pictures, but also resize mine and post them full size on TBN. here's a link to the thread where I went from 10mph to 100mph this last few days in case some of you haven't seen it: https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/photos/418669-cool-nature-photos.html#post5636214

ALL: while I was in grabbing a few pics for the other thread I found this one my wife gave me around this time in January last year that I thought might bring a smile to some of you. if it's not appropriate i'll delete it. it was my 63rd birthday card. I couldn't figure out how to resize this Bday card so sorry if some of the objects didn't downsize.

FIL about same. They expect 2-3 week stay. Hopkins has latest and greatest equipment. They have pictures of 2 stroke locations. Little more recognition yesterday. Wife stayed there again last night.
I visited another friend in local hospital.

Someone wanted pics of the snow we got the other day. The hump on the right side is 3 concrete blocks to act as a step for the oil guy and the bottom block is completely covered. These are 10" concrete blocks.

Off to the clinic for my Wellness exam. No coffee or anything because of blood test.

Skipping the coffee was the worst part of such exams. However, the last time we had a Wellness visit, the doctor told us that we can have our coffee in the morning since neither of us put anything else in our coffee.

RNG- I am sorry to read about another screwup with your solar panel project. You have been exhibiting amazing self control with the multi-issued craziness.

David- I do not mind the wellness visits and blood draws, but I do mind not having my morning cups of coffee. Good luck.

BEF- At least the docs now have and idea of what is going on with your FIL. My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for your FIL and family.

Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 7:00AM. Cloudy skies this morning will become partly cloudy this afternoon. High 59F. Winds light and variable.
Steady but light rain yesterday lasted until about noon, bringing another 0.4 inches. Then another set of rain clouds just in time for my drive home from town in the evening had me creeping along for the last bit to the top of the hill in fog that would make any Englishman feel right at home.

There should be enough sunshine by this afternoon to give Don's stick shadow trick a try.:thumbsup:

Sadly, that Bimmer is just gonna have to find someone else to adopt it. I've no inside place to park it or work on it, and after sitting for so many years in a field in coastal Eureka, it's bound to be a rust bucket anyway. Yeah, sour grapes, but life is already plenty interesting right now.

Got a call from a shipper called SAIA yesterday, asking me to meet them twenty miles south of here to complete the delivery of the solar rack parts. I had to explain to the person that my truck only has an 8' bed, and I wasn't comfortable driving around with 6' of aluminum rail sticking out over the tail gate. Then I reminded her that I'd paid for door step delivery, not parking lot delivery. That was shortly followed by a call from someone in the shipping department of the company that sold me the parts, and I told them that the salesman had been briefed on the shipping situation with OnTrack not delivering to this area, so they should have known to verify with the shipper that the delivery was possible. I also let him know that since the order was placed, I've found a local source that is both less expensive and delivers, if it comes to that. What I didn't tell them is that I do have access to a 20' flatbed trailer, but I'll be darned if I'm gonna go to the trouble to borrow the thing from my neighbor and drive all the way down there to fix their screw up. I also leaned from the steel supplier that the pipe they wanted to sell me didn't meet the 35 ksi yield strength the structural engineer specified, so that delivery is pushed out another week. Oddly, the new steel is not only stronger, but less expensive.:confused2:

When I got to Home Depot yesterday to pick up the fuel injection tester, I found a bright orange bank of lockers just outside the entrance door. I'd never noticed them before, but they're kinda hard to miss, so my guess is they've only recently been installed. I'd printed out the email I'd received, which had one of those square bar code things on it, and there was a scanner mounted right on the lockers as part of the touch screen interface. All I had to do was hold the bar code up to the scanner and a door popped open with my envelope behind it. It worked a lot like the propane tank dispenser they already have, but it seems like at least half the time, the propane thing scans my credit card then forgets to open a door to release the bottle, and I end up having to chase down a clerk to get squared away. That new bank of lockers seems like a lot of trouble and expense to go through when they've already got a huge customer service counter that they could have mounted a wall full of cubbyholes behind. As a stockholder, maybe I should write 'em a letter and tell 'em to quit wasting money on frivolous technology.:confused2::muttering: To top it all off, I was so side tracked by the experience I forgot to go inside the store and pick up a bundle of wooden stakes, and I bet they're losing money when other people end up doing the same thing.

They have the similar lockers at the HD nearest our Richmond House but ... they're located within the Customer Service Area, inside the store. And the wooden stakes are right in front of the lockers.

Ok ... I'm lying about the stakes.

This day just seems tp be dragging. I'm just not very good at just sitting around in the house, but it's been a cool (40 to 45 degrees) miserable day with a drizzle or mist and a breeze that makes it seem even worse.

I spent a good part of yesterday at my Ford dealer. My 2017 Ford Escape Titanium has just over 30k miles on it and will be 3 years old in 2 or 3 months. It has been an absolutely trouble free car so far. But nearly 2 months ago, I got a letter from Ford that a new version of the Navigation Maps was available for $109 or $145, depending on how you obtained and installed it. But it also said I could go let my dealer do it. Now being a bit lazy, I went to the dealer. Small problem . . . it said I had to have SINC 3 and my car was SINC 2 (don't ask me what that is or what the difference is). Now I learned that there is an "expert" who goes from one Ford dealer to another every day to do their "computer" jobs. He thought he might be able to upgrade my car to SINC 3, but was unable to do so. They concluded that my SINC (whatever that is) was defective and they ordered a new "modem".

Now Friday, I got my first "recall" letter saying all kinds of terrible things could happen if the engine sucked oil into the cylinders. So I stopped by the dealer Friday and made an appointment for early yesterday morning. The "fix", simply a software change of some kind only took a few minutes. BUT . . . after nearly 2 months, they had received the part to fix my SINC so the Navigation system could be updated. That took a little time (glad I took along one of Patrick F. McManus books to read), but when they got it installed, it included a later version of the navigation system, so I got it all done at no cost to me.

I guess everyone gets lucky now and then.

No time for cabin fever to set in getting that much so during the winter.

Thomas, no cabin fever here. I am out every other day, minimum. If not plowing, then taking the stepson or his wife to town for whatever.
I don't have to go out and start plowing at the start of a storm anymore like I did when I worked at snow plowing. Now I can wait until after it stops snowing, then do my thing. I have one pile that is almost 6' high so far.

That was a long road to travel for navigation nirvana, Bird, but I'm glad your Ford dealer finally got you there without blowing up the engine.:laughing:

I saw a youtube video about upgrading from SYNC 2 to 3. It started with getting new parts from a junk yard, so I stopped watching. And my last ford was a 1988 and I don’t expect to get anything newer.

My 2018 Subaru Forester does not have Apple car play. They added it to forester in 2019. To get it I’d have to replace head unit. I use USB cable, that works fine. Hands free via Bluetooth works.
My forester has class action lawsuit because of malfunctioning head units. So far mine has worked ok. Can only collect if they replaced it or you had in shop over 3 times to fix it.

And that is just what our two adult daughters use, also. The problem is that my hearing loss is classified as "profound" so some things that work great are things that I cannot hear. But if I still had the hearing that I had 35 years ago, I'd do the same as you.

I mentioned this morning a tree that was struck by lightning. I had already pulled some of the splintering off yesterday before taking this photo today.

Here is the lower section on the ground. The upper section is behind me, across the creek

When it hit, it split apart down the middle, about halfway up from the ground. Looking back, not a safe tree to cut down.

I cut up one side at a time.

Every time I burned wood from a tree hit by lightning it popped and threw sparks a lot when burned in the stove.
