I have witnessed what I think is social stigma attached to this very nice and healthy green vegetable
known as a collard. And not the good kind of social stigma either. I was asked to grow it and grow it I will.

I never grew any collards and don't remember any of my family growing them. However, when we lived down in the country, our nearest neighbors who also quickly became our best friends always had collards, so I've eaten and enjoyed a lot of them.

Back in from working on garden pond. Got it up and running. Spent way to much time on it today. Going to pay for it tomorrow.

Randy, prayers for your Mom.

Don- It always saddens me when I read about this stuff. Honestly, it could be any of the posters here becoming the news..... Bad "stuff" can happen... I hope I never have to read a post here..

We are very fond of collards. They are "easy" to grow around here ;).....

Mr Knee is giving me some serious feedback as to this weekend's passive "activity." I do not think anything "stupid" in my immediate future is going o happen.... very frustrating.

Randy, prayers for you, Ellen and your mom.

Rick, looks good. You'll need to mow it soon with the rain. L4N has 1 blade of grass, but he'll need to mow soon.

Check, nice of you to help dig your neighbor out.

Jay, Ron, Drew, easy on the equipment. We don't have forever warranties.

We woke up around midnight with quarter sized hail on our metal roof. Believe it or not, 2 of the kids slept through it. Don't know how much rain we got, but we got a lot more this morning. Guessing at least 3". The garden almost looks like a rice paddy. I told the kids to stay out for 3 days until it dries.

Hail storms are a good reason to build nice big Texas sized porches around your home....not to mention the shade they provide on hot days. I wish I had them.

I ate way too much at lunch. Ate all of mine, and my middle daughter was going to throw hers out....and I was taught not to waste food....so I'm going to bed without supper.

Eric, nice explanation of pond serenity. Swans still there?

RNG, how do you check shaft alignment on the van? I'm guessing it has U joints in strategic places? How hard to replace all those bushings?

Drew, olive branches/collard greens. Can't have too many friends. Glad you met your neighbors. Time for a lunch meeting with their friend? I always did lunch or early evening stuff for first time meets. It takes off any pressure when you need to go, you can just say, "I need to get back to work, we should do this again".

Kyle_in_Tex; Waste not, want not. That is what I was taught and try to live by. Especially at the dinner table.

Beautiful, simply beautiful

That's one of the few really open areas, in that pasture, that I can cut with one of the tractors. Most of it is;

I was reminded constantly as a child children were starving somewhere, lots of them, while I was unappreciative of my
mother's attempts to cook canned peas or something else dreadful.
While I'm whining why can't I send all those hungry kids my peas...

Kyle, fine ideas. Lunch down by the River.
And if I don't report back, you'll know to have them dredge the River, since I was bit by the Beaufort Black Widow...
Hi. You weren't a bug in another life were you? You know, small talk.
'
time for ice cream and berries and then headed in the general direction of dreamland.
hope your weekend was nice.

Good evening all. 60F for the start, .4 inch in the rain gauge, overcast with light wind. overcast all day, light wind as well, and high temp was 70F. Energy conservation day today, chapel to start the day, make breakfast, made arrangements to go to nephews wedding near STL, that's about it.
JMK common sense is not as common as it needs to be. My wife's first husband died in a tractor roll over accident.
Randy, it is nice that you have a relationship with Ellen, wife and I enjoyed having each other this afternoon, don't know what I would do without her. Prayers for your mom.
Rick great picks, your land looks flat!
Jay I was under the impression that stupid activity tended to interrupt the healing process. Am I wrong ? :confused2:
prayers for all

That question got me sent to bed IMMEDIATELY, without fail.

Great news BEF!

Was hoping this wasn’t going to turn into that months long “can’t remove my drain plug” thread some time ago.
Will see what happens next oil change. Lol

Awww, I was hoping it would be like a novel and we couldn't wait for a progress report each morning. The fun is over, can you find another challenge BEF?
Still havent found your new house. A golfball size white rock isnt the same as the compass..

Speaking of spilled oil, I discovered this stuff many years ago and it’s great for soaking up oil, hydraulic fluid, etc.

View attachment 599324

It’s really fine material and it will pull oil up out of concrete.
I had cat litter handy....
And after i replied i see several suggested it.
