Buppies, heal faster... Sorry you are under the weather.
Phil, glad your wife is doing better. That means you are doing better.:thumbsup:

30 degrees out, what a drop from yesterday, about 70 in the greenhouse, orange light blazing away in lawn, that dial is
impossible to make fine adjustments on. For once it would been nice to have a digital thermostat on the heater...for what they charged me
it should have. About triple what something similar on Amazon is....just got a 700 dollar plus bill for both heaters installed when I expected a much smaller bill. Well, then I go and think about Farmer's heating system and for sure can't complain. Great business, overcharge me to install a propane consumer, then overcharge me to consume the propane. Capitalism is grand...but wouldn't have it any other way. The kicker here is they charged me very little for labor, just the parts were seriously expensive. A wall mount 25k propane heater should not cost 300 bucks. Oh well, nice paint job right?

Shows how China/world pricing has changed our attitudes. 10 years ago I would have thought 325 bucks was a fair price for a quality heater.
Now you look in Amazon and see 3000 people say this heater is marvelous, and it costs 160 bucks looking exactly the same.
Probably because both came out of the same factory.

I'm old school where I like to deal with one vendor who takes complete responsibility for their work, electrician, plumber, gas company particularly.
I do not want to land in Pitt County. Told them that and got a good laugh, and a head nod. Went to Philadelphia Electric Gas and Electric fire training school as a volunteer fireman many years ago. Healthy respect for things that burn, blow up or will poison you.

Eric, I tried listening to that taking me away song and it set such a vibration up in my bad ear I had to turn it off.
It's self realizing, you listen to that and you will need to be taken away :D But thanks. Talk about avoidance therapy.

Food shopping this morning. Need to find out if helper can come tomorrow and work on garden plastic, otherwise I'm going to be down on
my hands and knees for a long time with razor knives and big scissors.

It's Friday, have a good one guys. 31 here going up to 52 in sunshine.

23 outside this AM. Heading to 40ish. Ground was like slop yesterday with all the water. Wiped out major time walking to feed horses. It figures. I just laid there with a smile on my face. Until the horse grain started seeping into my mouth. That stuff is all sugar!!
Looks like the wind took some more panels off one building yesterday. So that will be a priority for today and this weekend.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe.

For total embarrassment, I may as well show you that playlist of the first songs I thought of from my pre-teen days, still in the order I searched them out (Jay, I'm sure this must tell you something about my childhood ...)

The top of your list was on my list. Wife and I made a couple of stops in Branson Mo over the years. One stop got us tickets to the Andy Williams, Petula Clark show. Great live show.

25 and clear going to 42.

Riptides, prayers for your family. My wife is in NC caring for her parents and working on the same issue. Not easy.

Buppies, hope you're get to feeling better today.

LS, great puppy pic. I agree with David, once those puppy teeth are gone, things will be all good (although I still have scars on my hands from Coco's razor puppy teeth).

Eric, my older sister used to sing to me when we would swing in the backyard when I was maybe 6 or 8 years old...she always sang Que Sara Sara. I sure miss her.

10 °F and that is our high for today. Wind NE 14 gusting to 22 mph. Snowing out right now and more on the way.

I will be plowing again today. It is just breaking day now so I'll wait a while.

Buppies; Imodium & Pepto bismal both make a anti runs pill if you are interested. Strawberries, fresh strawberries work good for me.

That AeroSeal looks interesting. There is a contractor about an hour and a half south of me.

Have a good day all

mpham, hope your wifey gets better day by day. You too Buppies.

Prayers for all our ailments/sicknesses. I still have quite the cough/hack, but aside from some bad coughing spells, I'm still able to function at 95% Starting to wonder if I might have COPD or something.

A couple of degrees above freezing with low dark clouds and a very wet mist. I'm trying and so far failing to think of a good excuse to climb into a nice warm cab.

How appropriate that on there is The Beatles "Good Morning". For me the less popular Take 8 version is the best, at least when played through better speakers than this laptop.

Love the Beatles, although there are a few songs they did that I consider album fillers.

That "Take me away" song was well, let's say different.

Drew, here's a song you can play for your worms to wake them up in the morning. Some of you might remember it.

Fresh Garbage - Spirit - YouTube

First cup of coffee is down, might need another. 42F here, light wind at the moment. I hate heavy wind too. Count me in that club.

Good morning! 39 ˚F heading to the 50s ENE light wind.

I work on my raised bed yesterday moving the soil from the side so I could remove the sides today and level and straighten the cement blocks. I'll get a load of sand with my pickup today. Playing in the garden did have it's consequences, I missed out on seat time. By the afternoon trail blazing time I was worn out and glad to just transport culverts with my pickup.

I heard the hen card party went well with a dozen players.

Pic is from yesterday, a pretty Texas January Day 60 ˚F with someone else getting seat time on our tractor. The more it is used the more it is appreciated by the group. I did get seat time on the gator. I can't be to anxious on the tractor or it's true value will be known. IMG_2636.JPG
(Notice the high fence around the garden to keep the deere in and the deer out!)

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!!

Todayç—´ low was 27ºF. It is 28ºF now. All the rain yesterday has become ice. Even Brogen is having challenges walking outside. The plow guy will be sanding later.

Bruce- The sad tory of your parents is common.:(

Phil- I am happy to read that your wife is on the mend. I hope that her progress continues. No joy about next week's mid-week storm. The models were reflecting another inside runner system; like the last storm if I remember yesterday's weather maps, etc. One thing for certain is it will be getting cold again late week after this predicted storm? Really cold for NE CONUS

Eric- Thanks for the laugh. I actually still sing that song. I am still working on wiggling my thumbs and toes. I am dating myself and possibly reflecting my recreational activities; Procol Harem was and continues to be one of my favorite groups.

Rich- I was happy to read the your dental challenges have resolved. Have safe trip and enjoy the time with friends as well as a couple of cold ones.

Buppies- I hope the # of episodes continue to reduce in number and intensity. I hope the sugars are back to your normal as well as your arm.

RonJH- I hope that your arm continues to mend. A meeting of the minds here would be awesome in any environment even a secure one and we are all wearing johnnies.:cool:

RIP- I hope your fall does not result in aches&pains later. I am happy that you were not more seriously injured.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

I don’t know, there is something about operating the FEL that makes you feel like part of the machine, a bionic arm.

Exactly, it’s like an extension of yourself, you think about moving that bale of straw, and there it goes.

Good Morning!!!! 51F @ 5:30AM. Sunny. High 62F. Winds NE at 10 to 15 mph.

Eric, I knew better than to play the "take me away" song. Nice try.

Thanks for the details on worm farming, Drew. Now I wonder how they got all those worms into the bag? Gotta be one of those jobs you're glad you went to college to avoid doing...

Mike, the elder care outfits, a lot of them volunteer, were a huge help with my parents and mom's boyfriend when they started making regular trips to the hospital. It started with a hospital social worker during dad's first trip, who pointed me to the Licking County Aging Program, who had info on all kinds of programs to assist with care and well being. The VA can also help if he has served in the military. Adult Protective Services intervenes if things get too bad, but they also have connections to other support services. Just know that there is a lot of help out there; you don't have to do it all yourself, especially if you live far away from the person needing care.

The Polar Vortex made the news last night out here; bundle up is all I can say! We'll have sunny weather until the middle of next week when the rain returns. Lots to do before then!

The Field Adjustor from the insurance company called yesterday, and Wilma will be here at 9AM to look things over. I suggested she wear sturdy shoes and be ready to do some hiking.

Finished cleaning up branches along the driveway and pulled a couple more downed trees out of the easement yesterday. I really appreciate the chainsawing tips guys; I've got some YouTubing to do before I start felling. Fortunately I can get plenty of practice on the smaller 6"-8" oaks before I have to tackle the big Ponderosa pines. And you're right, the danger is just getting started when they're on the ground. I was rather pleased with myself yesterday when I cut a little less than half way through the top of that downed tree's trunk, then had the cut open instead of pinch as I came up from the bottom. I should have had a wedge in the top cut, but I got lucky and the upper section fell to the ground as the saw met the first cut, missing my toes by a mile.:)

Dug some wood out of the box of short ends I keep for campfire use, and found it to be pretty wet. The pallet of wood next to it that's supposed to feed the wood stove wasn't much better, so I'll hit Harbor Freight today to see what they have in larger tarps. Gonna be hard relying on wood for the rest of the heating season if it's all that wet. I did manage to get a campfire going last night by pouring a couple of cups of used motor oil on it first, then old premix gasoline. Makes a nice whump when the match hits it.:D I usually use the weed burner to light the fire, but the sparker on it is shorting to ground. Tried to fix it with some electrical tape, but I don't think what I was using had a high enough dielectric constant and the spark is still not reaching the gap in the burner. So I'll pick up another striker while I'm at HF, and also a couple magnets. Gonna see if one taped to the sparker will keep it stuck to the propane tank between uses, saving me from wrestling with a chain or string while I'm trying to use it. I'll bring home one of their free 6'x7' tarps as well. I love to put those things down when I'm changing oil on the truck because I can just throw them away instead of cleaning them.

TGIF Gang!:drink:

Even more so when the backhoe attachment is sitting on the TPH. PITA to get on and off, but lots of fun while it's there.:cool2:

Did I mention I found a Craig's List ad for a big, low hours Cat backhoe for only $11K? You guessed it, it was a scam. All I had to do was google the phone number to find that "Jennifer" had quite the history...

Good morning to all! Low of 22F, up to 40F, windy, windy, and more wind! 20-25 mph, gusts to 40 mph. It was howling all night, woke me up a couple times. Did I mention that I hate wind?

After the wind woke me up, I started having one of those "twitchy" muscle spasms in my left bicep. No pain, just one of those annoying things....just as I would start to doze back asleep, it would start. Repeated this process numerous times. Now that I'm awake, it's continuing. Guess I'm going to have to give it a workout in order to make it stop.

I have an early morning PT session this morning for the knee. Hopefully that will go well.

PJ, the "yelping/whining trick actually works! .... For the wifey anyway. I think my voice is too low when I whine...more like a hum. It doesn't phase him. The wifey will "yelp" for me...he stops chewing on me and looks over at her in confusion.

He had to have a "puppy time out" in his crate last night around 7pm. He starts going crazy, running, pouncing on our other dog, just nuts! Third night in a row he has done this. Once we get him calmed down, he literally falls into a sound sleep.... He's acting just like my 2 boys used to when they were about 3-4 y/o and didn't want to go to sleep!

Buppies, I hope you get ahead of the GI issues soon!

Drew, (WW), do you talk to your plants and worms? ....well, maybe you shouldn't answer that....

RIP, I hope that your able to get the repairs done without too much trouble.

Everyone have a great Friday, stay warm and dry if at all possible, and stay safe! Prayers sent.
