Now that was a long distance love...was that 2800 miles round trip? Should the senorita count as 2 birds? :)

That was 2800 one way. Long story, long trip! I’m not sure how to count those birds. Her brother apparently couldn’t remember my name, he kept calling me gringo, then spitting on the ground. That was about a year before moving here and meeting Lynn, then the rest really was history.

Got my Christmas shopping almost finished today, still have one little thing for mom to get. Cold this morning and chilly after noon when the wind died down. Wife is getting ticked at NWS. They have called cor a chance of snow tomorrow 3 times and have called it off again. She loves snow and even looks for it when there is no chance.

Ron & Betty, praying that you know what is best.

Randy, thanks for the prayers, You are doing better than you think.

RNG, should have used the never dull on the drill bits.

Good night all. Ed

Paper came out today and had done some research on the snowfall in our county. The last snowfall for this county that was as deep as the one we had last week (4"-5") was in January 1948 when they had 6". Last week was an historic event. The snow was actually deep enough to last in the shady places for 36 hours.

Oh on the topic of how far to . . . .to . . . wait . . . .is it how for to have a meal or how far for love?

edit ; OK I went back a few pages. It's "How far did you go for just what?" So the topic is open. Is form of transportation open also or is it just driving?

13F @ 22:00 ... they have revised the overnight low downward to 7F for tonight.

Did not make it to the Depot after dinner tonight for the panels. Hopefully tomorrow, as I may need to run to Akron Tractor for that pin for the 3PH.

I did make up here to the shop however, and brought a couple of light fixtures - one 4', the other an 8'. Might see if I can at least the 8' hung.

Probably recheck the measurements on the bypass doors one more time while I'm here.

Roughly 1900 miles (one way, Greensburg, IN ---> Red Deer, AB) to deliver a SINGLE radiator to a Mopar warehouse in Red Deer ... one which they had no clue as to why it would be expedited to them ... since they already had one of that part number in stock in their inventory.

You guys have been busy. I hit a root plowing snow today, ripped it out, but bent the mounting flange on the 3 point. I am going to leave the blade on for the winter it is still usable, so I will use it as is. I really would like to get a gas welding set, but I really seldom need it. It would be handy to heat and beat the flange back, and a mig welder to strengthen up both flanges.

Have a good one!!

-6 (yes...MINUS 6) degrees right now...high in the mid-20's (not too bad).
Went over the drive to clear that added snow when I got home yesterday. Pretty quick job, actually.
Well, it's FRIDAY!!

26 outside this AM. Forget that minus stuff. I did not even read it. Lol. Yikes. Hey we look to be in the 50s after today. Nice weather. Hope all have a good day. Be safe.

Good morning, it may be freezing again but it certainly ain't cold - at least not by L4N standards.

For the last couple of mornings the first thing I have seen when opening the door is a bright sliver of moon shining out of a deep blue sky. Only tiny but so bright it's reluctant to hide even after daylight arrives. The Moon That Couldn't Get To Sleep would maybe make a good story I could one day tell to a grandchild. It could start with a carefree dog called Coco, playing Frisbee under the moonlight ...

Good morning all. 27 this morning going to 38 with a 30% chance of snow. Calling for less than 1 inch. No plans for today, will take it as it comes.

Eric, sounds like you should start writing. Might be something all of our grand kids would want to read.

Have a great day. Ed

Good morning! 46˚ only getting to 56˚ with North winds.

And a children's author is born. Eric I know a good illustrator in Giddings for your first book.

That reminds me, any snow art from the famous Gidding's artist?

What a difference a day makes. It sure warmed up overnight.
-1 now and going to a high of 21 and snow in the forecast. Wind SW 3 mph. They say we can expect 2 cm (less than an inch) of snow. The last time they forecast 2-4 cm (about 1.5") we got 16". Now every time there is snow in the forecast I just go to the radar (Britt) and see how long it will last and how intense the storm is. As with you guys in the US, I can track a storm right from the West coast all the way to the East.

Have a good Friday, all!

Prayers for Riptides

Poured first cup of coffee. 16° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 27° with some snow. When I checked outside temperature at 8pm last night it was 2°. Sure glad clouds moved in to put some heat in the air. Need to do a shopping trip this morning. Going to get snow blower from under lean-to. Got a good feeling that it will be needed a lot this winter. Been a few years since it was put on mower.
Wife decided at this time she will not go with the infusions daily for 14 days on and off for 10 day the rest of her life. But will start eating more anti-oxidants. That is what is on the shopping list today.
Buckeye, call Lazy-Boy on your recliner. They are suppose to have good customer support.
Eric the children's book writer. Sounds good to me.
Good Morning All.

So the topic is open. Is form of transportation open also or is it just driving?

I've gone to the moon and back for love.
As have most of us.

cleaning ladies coming this morning, six little bags lined up with two kinds of home made cookies in them, a bottle of good Italian wine,
chocolates and candies and a little pay envelope. They do well, and never break anything. Once I got them to never touch my wall hanging art again, found two of them
dry wiping two hundred year old frames, sigh, all was well. I have the old family paintings, just faces of family, but under my care I'd like to not have all the patina rubbed off
the frames. I even caught one lady dry wiping the front of an oil painting. That's when painting cleaning came to a halt. I do it all with a small vacuum and a slightly damp microfiber cloth, ever so lightly, always extracting, never wiping in. The one four foot something Mexican lady who has been there with them from the beginning, and who just keeps working while the others blabber and smoke away on breaks, and who always has a nice smile for me, well she speaks almost no English, still...., so with a few of them, it's better to just keep them away and do it myself.

a mild little rant follows
My father told me it was one of his father's primary goals when he came through Ellis Island in 1901 to "speak good English".
He was proud to be an American and speaking the native language and not sounding foreign, in a time when foreigners were really mistreated,
(my how times have changed and perhaps come full circle). It was important to him to blend into the big melting pot. Others did things differently, keeping to communities
where the old languages were still spoken. Today, it bothers me to constantly hear the local Hispanics not speak English. 99% of them speak a language I can't understand and they
usually speak mine very poorly. And they don't care because it seems to be working just fine for them the way it is. Communication is so important.
How will they ever learn if they don't practice? It's how we learned...

I think the big difference is when you came over the oceans to get here, you knew you weren't going back. This was your new home.
Today, this huge part of our local work force doesn't see this as home nor a need to learn the language. They can just head South like caribou on migration.
Ok, off my soapbox.

It's funny, Eric's grandchildren have to learn how to "speak good English" too...

Today looks like a nice day in the 50's, may yours be nice also no matter what the temperature. TGIF

Cannot remember driving a long distance for anything like others. But I did fly to Turin, Italy to replace a fuse in a controller. Replaced fuse and got on the next flight back home. Time at job site, 30 minutes. Travel time, 23 hours and 8,580 miles. Never had time to get jet lag.
