Don, when I was a kid we cut our tree, a cedar, about 8-10 days before Christmas and decorated it about a week before. Used those big bulbs, if one went out, they all went out.
Wouldn’t it be great to have an hour as child on Christmas morning?

28°F and mostly clear skies this morning, going up to 57° today.

Am I having a senior moment or has PJ been missing for a while?

Nope, you haven't gotten rid of me yet. :D I don't usually pop in here much over the weekends, as my Wife usually keeps me entirely too busy for much weekend internetting. The honey-do list never gets any shorter.

I did pop in here briefly Saturday morning while at work. Only had to donate about 3-1/2 hours, so not bad at all. Company Xmas party that night was quite fun. We had it at a restaurant in just south of downtown St. Louis called SqWire's, so named because it's an old converted wire factory in the Lafayette Square neighborhood. Fun place and pretty good food.

Spent most of Sunday running back and forth between the house and the storage facility. We are reducing from two units to just one. Most of the stuff is leftover from my house before we got married. Some of it went back to the house to be sorted and either retained or "archived" in the dumpster. We then moved any remaining stuff from the small unit into the bigger one. Some of it was some of her Grandmother's antique furniture. Not sure what we'll do with all of it yet, so we're holding onto it for now. Most, however, was my music gear; guitar and bass amps and speaker cabinets, PA equipment, stage lights, and my large acoustic drum kit.

Welcome to the GM thread, James.

63°F and no rain

My friend Jim lent me his Rockwell 59380 Hinge guide. Appears made by Porter Cable more recently. Can be set up for all 3 hinges at once and I can do the 6 on one side , adjust and the 6 for other side. Even found a You tube for help.

Kekeo’s play date was fun. Jim brought 7 yo Schroeder, a pup from our 2nd litter. The 3 dogs had a great time. Mark uses an orange 5 gal lid from HD as a frisbee. All three 3 were whipped by the time we left.

Be safe
Have a great day

50 degrees, got all my todo's done by noon. Nice day to be out in the sunshine. Got the little Massey three point hitch put back together properly, remounted the carryall and then took a ride across the fields to my neighbor who asked to borrow my impact gun. I will only lend him my old corded one which I dropped off.

So David...a play date for dogs is to socialize them? In case they normally don't interact enough?
Or is this only for puppies, which would qualify.
Sounds like a great idea. I bet the owners were whupped by the time you left also.

David, a man of your talents can easily make a hinge guide from a few scraps of wood. Borrowing an adjustable one from a friend is even easier

Yea, my fall back position before free cutting.
I made templates for cutting out the electric boxes with spiral saw back when we built the whole.
I did pick up 1/2 mortise bit with the guide bearing above before Jim confirmed lending his professional template.

29F and cloudy/overcast @ 12:00. Radar shows snow ... but I sure ain't seeing it ... High today of 33F.

Short day yesterday, came down to house around 18:00 for dinner and never went back up to the shop, other than to run up real quick and shut the compressor off which I forgot to do when I came down for dinner.

More cleaning done yesterday, same on menu today. Got most of the west side of the shop cleaned at this point.

Did get the 3/8 x 2 1/2 steel flat cut for the other runner on the LPGS. Also got the fixed tire/wheel mounted on the two-wheeler that I use for bringing in firewood.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable and productive day.

Bird you must have an iron stomach if you can have four cups of coffee before eating.
My stomach starts gurgling after two.

Lots of things change as we get older, I guess. I used to sip coffee from the time I got up until about 5 p.m., but now it's occasionally only 3, but usually 4 big mugs of coffee first thing in the morning, then no more the rest of the day. Of course it does go on through me pretty fast.

My day usually starts about 5AM and by 11 I have run 2 quarts through me, after that it is only water for the rest of the day.

More for benefit of the host pup, Zelda, who is an only child. She had to drop out of puppy training due to car sickness. She is a month younger than Kekoa.

Owners did well, a couple of beers, snacks and socialize. Mark shared his shelving project in his workshop, a really nice metal clad structure he designed and built. Tall enough that the new shelving is what he calls mezzanine level. You can still stand even though floor is 8 ft up.

RNG, what kind of GPS do you have? I have 2 that I have no use for. Garmin 2620 and 2820.

I used to have a Garmin 26XX something or other, and sold it on eBay quite a few years ago. This one is a Zumo 550 with satellite receiver. Much less configurable than the last one, but being able to listen to XM radio and get real time traffic alerts is nice. Garmin no longer supports it, either with repairs or technical questions, but there's a large user community with writeups for the common stuff (like these flakey buttons), and parts are still available on eBay. It kinda frosts my cake that Garmin would abandon this unit after only nine years, and I'll be darned if I'm gonna give 'em another k-buck to get the same functionality in today's gadget, which the reviews say can't be read in direct sunlight.

I’ve got a couple old Garman units, one newer than the other. It has lifetime updates that I bought, so if they stop supporting it I’m looking for a refund. Of course I might never know since most of our vehicles have had factory nav for several years.

12 jamb mortises done

But, upon reflection, I wish I had built my own template as I think it actually would have been quicker. I can see where the Rockwell would be excellent for new work, but was more tedious matching old work. Old butt plates are a tight fit, sure hope they line up well with their other halves mounted on the doors without major adjustment.

So far, the Lifetime Maps updates have been working, but for a long time now the entire US mapset hasn't fit in the Zumo's memory. I've taken to loading it onto a flash card, but have to be very careful not to load any maps to the internal memory. When that happens, the Zumo can't figure out which one to use and freezes, requiring a battery removal to fix. If you read the fine print on those map updates, they're for "useable lifetime" and I guess that means whatever Garmin wants it to mean. The company I love to hate...

56 today. Still 50. 30 by daybreak.

Buckeye good to hear you and Buppies are doing better. Keep going.

Happy birthday to all I’ve missed.

Spent day with wife today. She had a biopsy done on a mole between her shoulder blades. It came back as pre-cancerous so she had it cut out today. For the next month or so I get to call her Grand Canyon. Hey, if I have to wash and pack it, she’ll listen too it. Doctor just cut an inch circle around it and about 3/8” deep. Much deeper than I was expecting. Hopefully they get clean margins and no recutting. No stitches and no restrictions.

Then we knocked out a bunch of Christmas shopping. As I was with her and she didn’t have to lift. Got my birthday present early. Just 5 days. A drywall panel lift. I need something to put the ceiling in new building this winter and being by myself I figured it was the only way it would get done.

The oldest boys communication device came this weekend. Speech therapist is setting it up.

Chickens are doing good. Feeding hay to cows. Only flurries out of that last system. Buppies are we going to stay this dry?

Instant pot owners.

Any tips or advice for buying one. Wife is wanting one for Christmas. Size? Location? Pricing?

I know it’s been answered and I should have paid attention.
