Spoons??? Please explain.

45F, partly sunny and breezy today, mid-50's.

Our chance of snow is Sunday. Two-three years back we had 8" of wet snow on Halloween but that's unusual.

There is an old folk lore. I guess you would call it, that says persimmon seeds can predict the coming winter.
A fork is a warm winter.
A knife is a cold winter.
A spoon is a snowy winter.

Ah! A weather indicator like woolly caterpillars. Thanks.

I've never lived within the natural range of persimmon so unless someone plants it, it isn't seen much here. There are a few varieties of Zone 4 hardiness American Persimmon that people can try here apparently.

Going up to almost 70 today. We probably won't see anything that high again for awhile. Putting a new storm door on today, going to caulk a bit here and there. Hopefully, I'll get some yard work done also.

Have a good one guys!

I think a winter like we had last year challenged a lot of marginal species here. I had a bunch of winter kill even on some evergreens. -15F and a snow cover that lasted 4 months or more has consequences. I was cleaning up my yard, and found some spots under piles of branches, that were still frozen, on April 20th.

Good morning, 40F heading to 72F with a 30% chance of rain. Was almost late for work this morning, I had to scrape thw windows on the car, was really surprised that I had to do that. Will have to give myself a little extra time in the morning until I can get the car in the garage.

Good morning! 64˚ now heading to 84˚ sunny.

I moved the outdoor BackYardGear water station out of the remote garden to house garden and pressure washed the moss off it and it looks like new. It has held up surprisingly well for over 15 years considering it is plastic. it gets a thumbs up  - Backyard Gear Water Station Plus Outdoor Sink - Walmart.com

Up to 47F @ 09:30 from 37F earlier ... sunny out so the temps should climb pretty quick ... the predicted high for today here is 71F.

Got pinned down on the couch last night by the cat ... so I went back to sleep until about 00:30 ... made it up to the shop around 03:30. Got the heavy rust on the front of pallet fork frame knocked off with the needle scaler and then worked on cleaning off the solid rods that the forks ride on. These had been painted - which in my opinion was a bad idea - since it makes them harder to slide to adjust them. They also had some rust on them as well, which certainly didn't help. I cleaned the grease off of them and then tried a wire wheel ... finally went to some 220 grit sandpaper which is cleaning them up nicely.

I've already been informed that someone is hot-to-trot to get leaves picked up ... so I'll have to put the MMM and Trac-Vac back on ... but not before we get the last two trees in the ground.

Also need to fill (and clean :D) the bird feeders ...

Hope everyone has an enjoyable and productive day ...
