If you are thinking of a home treadmill or elliptical, around here auctions can get you substantial discounts. My wife's Nordic Pro strider was $6. at a local auction, plus the gas to drive over and pick it up. Treadmills have more wear items, but pretty easy to service much of the time.the reality is everything is more expensive in Canada
and good luck trying to afford a new first home, particularly in big cities.
I think you can say the same thing for much of the US too...
which is why I could afford to buy a 25 acre farm in NC for 300k, which would cost six times more
in my current township. Affordable housing is no joke.
Just have to look at all the homeless to see the bitter end, some place I sure hope
never to be.
on a cheerier note, looks like I'm going to start going to the gym.
got a note from BC/BS of NC saying I had 112 dollars a month they will pay for me
to enroll in the gym of my choice (there is a list I need to check)
and for yoga mats, dumbbells and more...
I have to log on to find out more but that certainly seems enticing, a program
called FitOn Health
but....
I have stayed out of public gyms for many reasons, primarily avoiding human contact
to reduce chance of getting sick. But that's always in moderation and context; my concern is for
sweaty equipment ripe with someone else's germs. And what about enclosed locker rooms, how about the ventilation
in there. One sick all sick?........
I of course overstate but I've stayed pretty healthy by doing this.
alternative is to get a treadmill for my home.
they have a benefit stated as: Browse fitness equipment
browse? just browse?
of course another reason I have stayed out of gyms is avoiding
the cougars on the prowl. Maybe i should stop avoiding...
I have zero interest in a gym for all of the reasons you mention. I used to swim at a place that made you walk through the gym to get to the pool locker rooms, and the gym always had looky-loos of both sexes eyeing the parade. Not exactly comfortable to be viewed as meat on the hoof.
All the best,
Peter
