At this point, seems that we did purchase a camp yesterday.
Well, there goes another great thread. Your property search ranked right up with BEF's and the "pallets in field".
You've showed us a lot of ground truth in the northern woods.
Now - are you going to transition to a "building" thread?

Morning all,
Nice 68F going to the upper 70s today. Just sitting in the shade while my new to me pickup gets a woolwax under coat job.
On the left my 19 RAM 1500 and on the right my new to me 2022 RAM 2500 both of them fancy Larime trims.
A heck of a note when you drive fancier trucks when retired then when working.

69°F and .16 inches rain

Somewhat successful trip to HD yesterday. Bunch of stuff in back of truck to install the new mangate, but not everything. I outed to get the 4x6 gate kit as the description said it included everything except the posts. Get it home and it also doesn’t include the post side hinges. Grrrrr. Will install anyway, but won’t have hinges until Friday

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

I told you all that I was going to grease the disks yesterday, but my get up and go got up and went.
Greased them today, had to replace one fitting that wouldn't take grease. One out of four aint bad. They are at least circa 1950.
Now that the salt is in the basement, I can work on getting the wood in. First will be adjusting the chain on the conveyor.
77°F outside today.

Was 80F and sunny @ 12:30, heading up to around 84F for the day's high. Low this morning was 51.9F.

Yesterday's high temp hit 86.7F and it was quite warm out in the sun. Thankfully there were some clouds.

Not looking quite as good today, much less cloud cover ... presently 16% ... and dropping.

Got meds doled out first thing yesterday.

Then proceeded outside for more fun and festivities.

Found water still standing in 3 post holes. Be interesting to see whether there is any today.

Got deer netting gathered up and loaded in the dump cart.

Then sprayed the southern perimeter of the garden with glyphosate.

After that it was onto more augering.

Got another (1 ?) post hole completed to depth (the 4th ?) and 2 - 3 more very close to depth, hopefully can get those finished today.

Brought up several good sized rocks which were impeding progress:

Further work was done on the remaining holes, including the ones that had standing water ... which was a little messy:

Gave all the incomplete holes more water before knocking off, will be interesting to see whether we have more standing water today.

Harvested the big Hubbard Blue and the 3 Waltham Butternuts that were on the ground:

IMG_3869 copy.jpg

That Hubbard did not weigh as much as I thought it would ... but it was still too heavy to weigh on the kitchen scale (>11 lbs)

Using the bathroom scale (which probably isn't all that accurate) it looks to be around 12 - 13 lbs. A 35 pounder would truly be a monster.

There's still one Waltham Butternut on the arched trellis.

Woman was thinking Domino's for dinner, which was interesting ... in that I had gotten a notification from them earlier that our Reward points were about to expire.

Ordered a large Wisconsin 6 cheese with pepperoni and I ran down and picked it up in the van.

Transmission line leak is apparently fixed on Woman's car, will be interesting to see how they handled that ... given that the part was NLA. She's heading out shortly to pick it up.

On agenda for the rest of today (in no particular order):

Some more work on post holes while tractor is still in shade.

Then probably work on the 3,4,5 string line to get the vector for the southern fence line ... since that area is likely to be in shade.

Will need to make a quick trip down to the corner hardware for another can of marking paint before I can mark out any more post locations.

Wash off all the winter squash and get them put in the little greenhouse in the dining room.

Beyond that see what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent Wednesday ... (y)

wow, .97" now just for today, 1.27" since yesterday.

Just returned home from a 4474 mile, 2 week trip. Scott, when I said it would be a long commute to help you on the deck, I was in North Dakota. Pictures to come. When drew posted Mt Rushmore, I was close by in Rapid City, but didn't see it this trip. Trip got modified as we went, was going to return via upper Minnesotta and the UP. Heck, would have drove right by Arly's new camp if we came that way, but we changed due to me getting sick then getting better, and it was raining up there, instead we returned via Missouri where it hit 100 deg one day.

Drove in a couple hard rains today. Cats missed us. My son held down the fort so they didn't starve.

Speaking of Forts, had to go here since my wife is a Lincoln.
