Morning all, 67 going to 84 and sunny.
Got all the hydro and engine change supplies for the JD, so that's on the plate for this weekend.
Got the bushes in the back and over past the pool done. Raking done. Etc. 3 hours total with the Echo long hedge trimmer.
More detail work needed and some shreds to move around, but basically done.
Need to take the string trimmer and do around the trench and the various trees.
Have to wire up the 12v outlet on the JD and get it ready for the sprayer, since the JD has the battery up front.
Also was able to get a new center grill for the JD, so need to find time to replace it.

Cleaned up around the new sitting area back of the garage for the wife. Have a small dead tree there I need to make disappear.

This is one fake grape vine from the middle of a large bush out front.
It's folded up on itself and must be 20'+ . I did cut it out at the top in March, so this is new growth. I finally found the root stock and cut it back. about an inch thick so just looked like another stem of the bush.

Ct, 54 to start going to 80 or so. Work today, sun is out but I only came in to wash the big red truck and maybe a bit of wax also.

Only a half day I think so need to get going.

68° and sunny.A bit hazy, but clear. High of 80 is forecast.

Yesterday was sort of productive, I got all my FAA paperwork completed, polished the headlight covers on the RAV4 and the transit connect, they came out great, 3M makes a great product.
Helped a 10 year old neighbor troubleshoot his 3D printer. He reminded me of Sheldon Cooper, as far as taking advice. I didn’t want to fix it for him, but wanted to guide him to find the solution himself. It was not an easy task, as he was easily distracted by his preconceived diagnosis. It was like taking a puppy for a walk on a path surrounded with squirrels and chipmunks. But he ultimately put the blinders on, followed the path and solved the issue.

As rewarding as it was to see the light go on, and have him solve the problem, I don’t think that I’m cut out to be a teacher, as it was painful watching him along the way, and not dragging him to the finish line rather than get there on his own.

Today I’ve got to get the trailer out of the back field, empty the building supplies out of it and check it out for a road trip to take an alpaca to the vet. The ground is wetter than I would like it to be, but I think it’s doable.

Airport Authority meeting tonight, not much else planned, we’ll see what else comes up in the meantime.

70F and Sunny @ 09:45, heading up to around 79F for the day’s high.

Good progress on coating 4 x 4 posts yesterday. Some now have the 3rd side coated.

Was pretty breezy yesterday which made it seem cool so I moved the hay wagon out into the sun after I cleared all the posts off of it.

Then reloaded it with posts done previously which had fully dried so I could do the next side on those.

Will likely move it back into to the shade given today’s forecast.

Maneuvering a wagon with a steerable axle is a bit of a trick … which I’m sure L4N can tell us all about.

Trip over to friends in the afternoon to pick up another free garage door opener which needs a little work + an RV battery charger that blew a cap which needs replaced.

Checked plants on shelves around back after I returned, a bunch of the pumpkin and winter squash seeds have sprouted. Expect more of that over the next several days with the warm temps.

Plants in garden seem to be starting to take off.

Will probably do some work on getting more tomato plants and cukes in the ground today if it’s dry enough.

Feeders need refilled so that’s on the list as well.

Will give the lawn another day to dry out before attempting any mowing.

Otherwise see what else comes up.

On raised beds, you can control the height (roughly), depending on the size material you decide to use to build them and how many levels. That assumes that you use dimensional lumber to build them.

If you design for a lawn chair then that can be used to avoid having to stand and bend over. Standing and bending over is a complete non-starter for me ... my back and legs can't handle it.

A 5/4's deck board or 2 x can also be added to the top edge to provide seating. There's at least one YouTube out there that describes how to do this. Will post it if I run across it again.

General consensus seems to be that ACQ PT lumber is safe to use. If you still have concerns you could always line them will plastic sheeting (or some other material)

On your beans getting nipped off ... could either be deer if you have those or cut worms. If the latter there are a number of methods - including natural (BT and Spinosad) - that you can use to control them.
