Was a chilly 41F @ 05:45, generally clear but with some haze. Calling for a high temp of 69F which is still about 4 degrees below normal. But welcome.
Coffee tasting very good.
And a toasty little puddy tat warming my legs and wanting petted.
Filled up feeders first thing yesterday: hopper, both tube and both suet feeders. Also scattered some seeds for the ground feeders. Need to get the feeder for the hummers put up.
Apparently startled groundhog while I was doing that and it let out a loud, piercing shriek. Got my attention.
Worked on completing coating first two round poles with tar and got that done.
Then went over to the barn with the Kubota and got the other two round poles and brought them over to the house.
Got those about half done, and The Woman helped. She was feeling a bit under the weather Friday/Saturday, thinks it might be allergies.
Decided I like thinning the roof coating down a little with some mineral spirits. It flows and fills the cracks better, brushing out a lot easier. Also dries a lot faster.
Worked some on mowing the front yard. Got it maybe 65% done. Big spot at the bottom still has standing water. That might go away by sometime tomorrow … just before the next round of rain is due in.
Remembered to check the seeds I planted in pots out back, looks like maybe 50% have sprouted and have come up.
Final item for the day was getting the last 10 cauliflower plants in the ground and covered with insect netting.
By the time I finished up it was feeling pretty chilly out there with the breeze.
Still have the 3 kohlrabi left to do but no holes left under the insect netting.
On agenda for today:
Repot a couple more tomato seedlings.
Since no rain in the immediate forecast and winds should be light, probably do some more Glyphosate spraying.
Set up new saw horses and get some of the 4 x 4 x 12’s laid out and start getting those coated. Hopefully Woman can assist with that.
Hook up core aerator to the Cub and punch some more holes in the front lawn.
Cub is just under 2 hours from needing the oil changed and the air filter cleaned so may do that as well … along with cleaning the underside of the deck. 748 and change on the hour meter.
Blades still cutting fine but need to think about getting the second set sharpened in the coming days.
Kubota just rolled 2600 hours and the van finally hit 460,000 miles.
Hope everyone has a decent Memorial Day …
