Don and I are both up too early.
alarm dinged at 3am and realized I was wide awake.
coffee going down nicely.
low 40's out now, dropping during the day to very cold tonight, then looks like a little bit of a warmup.
had a nice visit with my friend yesterday, used their travel wheelchair which was lighter but not much.
GPS on Expedition failed, nav failed, sigh....another appointment at Ford dealership, only place that can fix it.
I still can't find the oil life monitor.
But I do have my own oil and filter and next warm day will change both.
Then I use a dymo labeler and put the oil change info somewhere, usually in front on radiator plastic.
the whole idea of doing all this maintenance was to set a baseline on a vehicle with unknown history.
dealer allegedly changed oil but no sticker on windshield. Absolutely yes to 5000 mile oil change intervals.
That's twice a year for me and I just bought a new HF creeper to make it easier.
my only concern with changing oil on a car, which usually I don't fit under, is that when I put the vehicle up on ramps,
the engine is then on a slight angle and I assume not all the oil runs out. RV was tall enough I could get under it, but this truck
may be pretty tight. I got a new drain plug also, Ford uses a gasketed plastic drain plug. They came in pack of four, will give one to my friend
with same year F150. He has the 375 ecoboost, mine is the 400/480. Plenty of power to go, concerned about power to whoa, hence thinking of
brake pads.
I understand brake pads can leave a lip on rotors the same way belt pulleys can get a lip from serpentine belt.
so it makes sense to change out rotors on something older. But without any brake shudder, braking seems smooth, not sure what I would accomplish.
just because something passes inspection does not mean it's in good shape. (not like I'd drive on a tire with 3/32 tread...)
there was a time when "cutting down" your rotors was standard I thought, but perhaps with cost of labor now, it's simpler and maybe cheaper to just buy all new parts.
hope you all have a nice weekend.
