Good Evening Drew,

I’m guessing you will also find some very good BBQ in Texas also !

Hope all have a blessed evening ! 🙏
I'm pretty sure everything will be good including the vegan dinner Don and his wife and I will have. Somewhere. As long as he gets me back to the rv by 9pm (it turns into a pumpkin) I'm game for anything.

I'd like ribs, barbecue of the area, German food, fresh Gulf fish and likely a really good t-bone. I think the tbone will come for lunch at Big Texan in Amarillo. Hope I don't fall asleep driving after eating that...the plan will be to have a little and take the rest home.
Don has humorously suggested I carry an AED after eating
some giant steak....:)

I don't know about any war on football, and I do understand the benefits of team sports, having played them. Last year three kids died of head injuries and ten died of heat stroke and other issues from football. Some probably unknown serious health issues that showed up. But football creates more injuries than any other sport. Like boxing, it's the brain injuries that are at real issue. Having said that, bicycling is number two...not like we are going to stop that...

many kids have real issues with self esteem and act out accordingly. I can understand where team sports gives one a good sense of belonging and accomplishment. My concern is how to make this safer and maybe it's as safe as it can possibly be now. Parents and coaches have a lot to consider.

I know. I suffer from some pretty annoying lingering issues from concussions suffered playing football and college/amateur boxing. I am not diagnosed with anything yet, though.
As a football coach I have seen promising developments like the padded covers for helmets.

Boxing has improved safety with headgear, but it’s still boxing. I had over 25 matches and many, many practice bouts in my younger years. Always wore headgear and used 16 ounce gloves.

Missouri has a lot of pretty lakes
Yes, it does. Missouri is a fairly wet state, with lots of lakes and rivers. That's why there is water on their license plates. Many of our favorite kayaking and canoeing trips have been on Missouri waterways. It's a really scenic state, once you get out of St. Louis.

Good (Wednesday) morning. Overnight Low of 6.0C and it's presently 13.7C, overcast with a breeze.

Well, I did repair the flagpole yesterday arvo. It only took a half hour as I had all of the parts/tools ready to hand. It turned out that yesterday was "Flag Day" too! The anniversary of the 'official' Australian flag, first hoisted on 3 Sept. 1901.

I also took the pole saw on a little wander around my driveway to clear some low, but otherwise hard to reach, blackwood branches that were beginning to brush my ute when entering the property.

The pole saw did require a wee bit of maintenance, which was a good thing as It'll be needed on Friday to take care of the tree at the Rectory.

Today is 'into town' day for petrol and groceries. Seeing as the pole saw required a clean-up, I'll do the same to the chainsaw this arvo.

That's about it, take care all.

LOL.

Same boat, different oar.

I have had my fill of driving, especially trying to get into our Nations Capital over my career. It was not uncommon to average six (6) hours a day on the roads. And that was leaving at o'dark thirty and getting back in the nighttime too.

If someone else wants to drive, OK by me.

My last duty station before retiring from Army was Falls Church, Va. To say the commute ruled many peoples lives would be an understatement. My cubicle mate was an LTC, West Point grad computer engineer retiring 1 month before me. He lived in Manassas, Va, one of those Rt 66 commutes. There was no doubt he would next be employed by a deep pocket, beltway defense contractor. We decided to determine the full cost of commuting, not just vehicle and gas. Don’t remember the exact numbers, but we settled on a figure in excess of $20k/year, more depending how we factored in missing family time. This was no back of the napkin exercise as we devoted extended time and thought to the exercise. We also talked about this with others and discovered that while complaining about the commute was common, very few actually quantified other than time. Did Dan use to his advantage? You bet. He got a contractor position contraflow the normal commute AND used our study to bargain a higher starting salary. This was 1992, can’t even imagine such a commute these days.

Coffee is brewing. 45° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 79° with lots of sunshine. Washed and cleaned 16 of the 33 windows on the inside. Also did the drapes. I sure am glad my sister is here to help. Will be helping neighbor install new battery charger in his golf cart today.
Almost hiding in grass.
