Mansfield Missouri
I'm heading South instead of North because I wanted to visit
Baker Creek seed company, whose seeds I used exclusively on NC veggie farm. They are a couple miles away from campground. And then I realized tomorrow was Labor Day and the place will be closed. Not very smart planning. But who cares, just a different path.

at least tomorrow morning there shouldn't be much traffic across that little bridge. I think Paul said it was the oldest bridge there.
Big river, bridges are important, and St Louis has a bunch of railroad bridges to handle East West traffic

I take 44 West to 63 South and then 60 West
am guessing it will be an easy cruise on flatter land if there isn't too much
road construction. I can't leave until 10am so will have a quiet morning here. At least the temps are going down a little

I took the drone up and got a pic of the Arch, despite lots of be careful warnings of the Arch protection area (they really, really do not want you flying drones anywhere near it), but all I do is go straight up in the parking lot. But....new laptop does not have an SD card so can't load those pics.
I ordered an SD/USB adapter and that will get to my sister's home. So until then, will be taking drone pics but can't see them.

Good evening! We finally got our internet service restored! 4 days down..... Apparently, someone digging took out the main fiber optic line that takes all of the 'rural' customers and crosses over the mountains into the big city. At least the service provider credits the bill if it's out for greater than 12 hours.

Been busy (well at least keeping myself occupied) this week. Cleaned out the greenhouse and reorganized in preparation for the winter. Got some of the saplings transplanted into bigger containers. Completed a few small honey-do items.

Then got started on the Jeep.... flushed out the heater core, both directions. Got a lot of brown dirty coolant. Flushed the block and radiator. Took out the t-stat and put in the cleaner, took it up to temp on a test drive. Let it sit overnight and took it up to temp again.... then let it sit again. Repeated again today..... I 'll flush it again tomorrow and put the t-stat back in with new coolant.

The good news is that there was heat on the first test drive. Hopefully it will continue to work for a while......

completed in 1874. The Eads Bridge was the first bridge across the Mississippi south of the Missouri River. Earlier bridges were located north of the Missouri, where the Mississippi is smaller

Dedicated July 4 , 1874, so just turned 150 yrs.

Paul, so sorry to read about your stepson's accident. Good that he's out of the hospital. Now a long recovery period.....

Drew, glad that you found the transfer switch problem. Sorry about the Loves RV spot. Didn't know they had them! But ... now I know not to go there!

Don! Glad your surgery was successful! Good that you're not having too much pain so soon after the surgery. Did you have them put in some added power so you can become pickleball champ?

Scott, have fun at the beach! I bet you will be tired by the time you head back! Little people seem to wear out the bigger people really fast!

Bill, I hear you about the BH getting under shelter. I have planned an addition on the tractor garage so I can get my BH in there. It was stored on the opposite side of the garage, but that space got taken over by wood / lumber stock. I hate the thought of it sitting outside over the winter. It's a project for next spring.

The rain the guessers were hyping up never came. A few storms made a lot of noise, but only gave up a few drops. No more rain in the 7 day next week. The temps will be nice though -- hanging right around the upper 70's for highs, lows around 50°.

I had 5 pages to read through.... I'm sure I missed something that you guys have done!

Time to go put up the feets.....

I hate gardening, but the other day two good sized tomatoes cost me $7.00 at a farm stand. They were good and made delicious sandwiches but dang 3 sandwiches for $7.00 worth of tomatoes is kind of steep.
$7.00 holy moley

Good (Monday) morning, and the 2nd 'official' day of Spring. Overnight Low of 10.2C and it's presently 15.3C, lightly overcast with a moderate breeze. This should be the last day of the wind/rain 'event'. Recorded gusts of 95kph, around midnight, at the aerodrome. There was 42.3mm in the gauge @ 0900... the ground is 'squishy' around the property.

In my capacity as Church Warden, I received an email regarding a small tree at the Rectory that was slightly uprooted along the fence line. No damage to the fence but, yeah, it'll have to come down. Hopefully I can get to it Wednesday/Thursday.

Personally, all I've got around my property is an overabundance of twigs & small branches to clean up... and I need to repair the bottom section of my flagpole.

That's about it, take care all.

Was 63°F and clear skies this morning, and got up to 89° today. A bit warmer than predicted, but still way better than the upper 90s last week.

Drove to East St. Louis this morning to meet up with Drew. We went over to the STL Zoo and rode around there for awhile. I was kind of disappointed at the number of animals nowhere to be seen, but that's how it goes there sometimes. They couldn't care less about our schedules, as they have important zoo animal stuff to do, I guess. We had a good time nonetheless. Popped back over into Illinois to go to the Cahokia Mounds Historical Site, but the museum was closed today, and Drew wasn't interested in climbing the 154 stair steps to the top of Monk's Mound (frankly, I wasn't all that thrilled at the prospect either). Looked for a nice, quiet place in Granite City for lunch, but all the little restaurants downtown were closed as well. So, we settled on one of the chain places. It was pretty quiet in there for a good long time, until they started scooting tables together and the masses started coming in. Time to go. Stopped by a local market for Drew to pick up some provisions, then back to the RV park. Was really great to finally meet you, Drew. Thanks for all the great conversation, and I hope you enjoy the rest of your grand trip.

I got nothing significant done for the rest of the day, with the exception of some significant puttering.

Good evening, gents.
