Hmm I think I also need a permanent guard for the little escape rascal.

Actually a permanent wood fence construction is underway. Should look nicer but he won't bounce off a wood fence as well as he did with plastic! 😄
Better dig it into the ground about 2'. He will tunnel under if he cant get over the top.:)

Good morning! Low of 51°, heading up to 79°. More good chances (70%) for storms. We got another 1/4" in the gauge last night.

Going to try and get the last section of trimming done before any storms. Shouldn't take too long.

Plow, congrats on Rigby's ribbon! He has gotten big!

Drew, hope the sadist... I mean dentist, does a good job. Definitely don't need an issue like that on the road!

Everyone have a great start to the week!

Came outside at 74° and started digging potatoes. Wife came to help after a bit. Now have 3 of 4 rows dug. Now 84° been trying to cool off on the porch. Snagglepuss beside me.

Just heard a boom in the distance, wonder what it was.

73°F and 6.68 inches rain last 24 hours.

Honestly is passing west of us, Gilma still a few days East so something of a lull. Even a tiny bit of blue sky and sun.

Would be nice to get tractor out for a run but perhaps too optimistic.

Happy Hour in town this afternoon.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Thanks for the report, Don. My knee surgery was scheduled for September 18, but now it has been put off. Don’t know when the new date will be.
Down here knees are more backed up than shoulders. The limping painful walking takes priority over shoulders. When I went to th knee DR. 3 years ago my shoulder ws also hurting and he did an x-ray of both knee and shoulder - both needed replacing or injections. I took the shots for the knee for about a year and then they were no longer effective. I was going to see about getting the shoulder done after the first knee surgery but then the second knee started giving me considerable pain and took priority. The shoulder DR shares the same office and the knee DR and they gave me the option of shoulder injections or surgery. Since the injections only delay surgery I opted for surgery and there was an opening with in two weeks, so I booked it. Home PT called today and will start the day after surgery.
Let me know when you have your day set for surgery.

86F and sunny @ 12:15, calling for a high of 89F for the day. DP 67F, HU 51%, "feels like" temp = 91F.

LWS reports high temp yesterday hit 89.8F.

Refilled hopper and the two tube feeders yesterday first thing.

Checked live trap ... still set and un-tripped, with bait intact as of yesterday afternoon. Need to check that this afternoon.

Cleaned air cleaner pre filter for the Cub. Need to get that oiled up and swapped in today.

Got one clump of hosta split = 14 new starts:

Still have a few more dug clumps still to divide.

Got those starts planted and watered in that new planting area:

IMG_3407 copy.jpg

Then sprayed them all with that really stinky stink juice made with egg solids and cayenne powder.

Also sprayed the rhododendrons in the northwest planting bed and some other recently planted hosta on the west side

Did the summer squash as well. Now that the vines have grown tall enough, the deer seem to be picking off the blossoms ... 🤬

Picked 1 yellow squash and 1 zucchini.

As of this morning none of the new hosta had been plucked out ... so it seems to be working ... (y)

Woman reported the deer were out grazing on the strawberries around noon today ... so probably need to hit those with the juice as well.

After that I raked up a bunch of debris in the row where the forsythia will get transplanted and hauled that up to the new compost pile.

She commented yesterday that the groundhogs seem to have figured out that the backyard was a lethal zone as She hadn't seen any out there recently.

As of half an hour ago that didn't seem to be the case and now I have another groundhog carcass to dispose of. The buzzards will be pleased I'm sure.

Some items on agenda for the rest of the day:

Check live trap, swimming lesson if needed.

Dispose of groundhog carcass and coon if necessary.

Make some room up in the shop to get the Kubota in, turn AC on.

Remove bucket and box blade from Kubota and get it moved inside.

Disconnect hoses and loosen gland nut from lift cylinder.

Get the cylinder removed and disassembled.

Clean out refrigerator.

Haul trash up to the can at the road.

Plus whatever else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent Monday ... (y)

There is exactly one of these in the whole back area.

Looks like thistle.

Wonder how far the seeds traveled as it doesn't seem to have anything a bird/animal would eat.

Quite a ways ... once that head ripens up a bit and opens.

They have a white feathery things attached to the individual seeds, kind of like dandelion seed heads.

Gold finches here love them (nyjer)
