I agree with Buppies, it's a pleasure to look at, when you know something is done right, not only to code but
to look nice too. It takes time to get all those fittings lined up nicely. Now all they need are big labels on them, for someone
other than Popgadget to operate, who knows what they do inherently. But you need to label for others.
I would think inspectors love labels. Label machine not expensive. The last part of the job.

if you've ever inherited an electric panel with illegible acronyms and scribble done years before
by marking pen on the panel, you will appreciate a labeling machine

Popgadget, do new GFCI's do both ground and arc faults? Which do you have?

interesting that during all the red ink in yesterday's stock market,
some of the green investors actually gained.
usually there is an orientation towards large cap vs small cap but yesterday all ships went down.
but not all. I have watched this carefully for a long time.

as a portfolio diversifier, having a portion of holdings in socially responsible investments can be very helpful.
Plus usually your money is invested in something decent and worthwhile no matter what.
portfolio analysis was my passion in financial planning.

I have about half of my investable retirement in green mutual funds, the other half in
dividend paying mutual funds. The green has done very well and also supports my faith orientation.
also interesting that this subsection of green did well, but overall sustainability and women's businesses did equally poorly.
would be more helpful if example stocks were shown instead of just a classification.
I wish they would show ytd by class, suppose I could bore down and find it

this is admittedly vague:
companies that adhere to the principles of the U.N. Global Compact, display a commitment to reducing poverty and supporting economic development globally, and have exposure to countries with low levels of socioeconomic development. The index pursues social objectives by selecting companies with high Societal development scores, while companies with controversies and severe ESG risk are deemed ineligible.

they would not let me cut and paste but when I bored down it seemed the key factors for inclusion in the subsection
that advanced in yesterday's market were:
human rights
gender pay disclosure
working hours
fair trade products
bribery and corruption policies

if you passed these screens, your stock got included. Seems reasonable to me.
this index has only been around for five years or so.

right now very happy 5 percent CDs still available at local bank.

Morning all, 82 going to 92 and rain later.
Our first stop was San Francisco. I worked in the pointy building in one of the photos many years ago. The pier has become even more of a tourist trap , but we were able to find a decent Dungeness crab dinner.

We stayed at the Palace hotel, the hotel is one of the grand ones from way back and was inexpensive as downtown SF is now a mess of homeless and crime. We hope the place survives. It's like staying at the Plaza hotel in NYC for the price of a motel6

Lots of old restored trolleys running, we took the red one and a few others. Safer than walking the streets

The pier is so changed and more bubba gump shrimp than SF crabber.

Overall, the City is a mess. Sad to see it, still nice areas of course,

great pics Ken
will be there soon
definitely want to ride those trolleys

spent a lot of money this morning on "company food", stuff I wouldn't buy for myself like
fancy cheeses and lots of different nuts. At least I get to keep what doesn't get consumed.
Am cooking dinner Sat night for friends in town, my foodie friends, so need to up my game.
I'm going back to store on Friday morning and will commit, see what fresh fish they have.
Likely will still be raining so has to be something I can easily do inside.

headed outside to get some bed edging done on a warm day.
looking forward to being driven in by rain after lunch
also have cherry tomatoes to pick
need to give away some tomatoes again

Good morning! Low of 56°, heading back up to 90° again. The chances for rain yesterday was a bust, no chances for today or tomorrow. Thursday and Friday good chances return.

This year is turning out to be another 'non-soon' season. The monsoon usually goes from the middle of June through the middle of September. Halfway through and hardly 20% of what rainfall we should have gotten. The red area is starting to get bigger on the drought map......

Wng, sounds like you and the Mrs had a blast taking Della out to the swimming hole!

Don, make sure you keep those stinging critters down there! I am glad they don't like the cool nights up here.

Speaking of stinging creatures---- apparently, someone must have placed a beehive nearby. For about the last month, the nectar feeders are swarmed with hundreds of honeybees by the afternoon. You can stand 2 feet away and they don't even care. Interesting to watch them do their stuff. But, they are draining the feeders faster than the hummingbirds!

Then, I was standing leaning against the porch post, just chillin'..... and a baby pileated woodpecker landed in the tree about 4' away, right at eye level. I don't know who was looking at each more intently, but it was really cool!
It pecked a few bugs (assuming), then flew over to another tree. It still had a lot of down on the head and neck, so not too long out of the nest. About half the adult size.

Ken, sorry to hear about the arm and tooth issues on the trip. Glad the rest of it went good. Pics were great!

RNG, sorry about the trip getting cut short, but glad the situation with your friend was overcome. Hopefully nothing more than getting overheated.

Need to go grocery shopping today. List has been growing, so can't procrastinate any longer....

When I get back, need to make some calls.... still haven't heard anything back from PT for the "nerve treatment".... again waiting on insurance approval. How insurance companies have gained the ability to dictate medical treatment/procedures is beyond my comprehension!

Oh, and I have to prepare myself to take the trimmer for a walk again.... seems one drop of rain will allow a weed to grow a foot!

Everyone have a great day!

Good Morning!!!! 61F @ 7:45AM. Sunny to partly cloudy. High around 80F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.
RNG, sure hope friend finds out what caused his problem while on motorcycle.
Looks like it's gonna be like trying to get a mule to climb a ladder to get 'em to see a doctor...
We all pay for each other, that's how insurance works, but I am not losing any sleep when folks with houses at the shore scream over their flood insurance bills. I sure don't want to pay more because many want to live on the edge.
That's the way it should work, Drew, but with all of the properties in insurance companies databases (us, too) they've been able to segregate the higher risks and defeat the whole principle of insurance. I thought I'd be able to purchase homeowner's insurance from the big companies for the new house in an urban neighborhood, but that's turning out not to be the case just because it happens to be in California. Some companies are also disqualifying me because of losses due to natural causes (wind and wildfire) in an entirely different house 700 miles away.

That's been the case at every home I've purchased, Drew. On this latest one, some of the breakers were buried under covers inside the Tesla inverter, and the all black plastic interior made it hard to see that there was even a cover! It was even hard to find a make and model number on the darn thing to download installation and owner's manuals. On the main panel, they used a pencil and scrawled the text to the point it was mostly unreadable. Several times I've had to resort to flipping breakers to find what controlled what. The garage is especially bad, as different walls are on different circuits, same with the overhead outlets for the 4' florescents.
Overall, the City is a mess. Sad to see it, still nice areas of course,
Glad you were able to get in and out safely, Ken. I spent a lot of time there in the early 80s when I lived in San Jose and dated a gal that lived there. It was a lot of fun riding a powerful motorcycle on city streets, and there was no problem with parking. But not long before I retired, I was going to a urologist at UCSF hospital and it was a royal PITA to get there. Drive to the end of BART, ride an hour, then city bus, which turned out to be unreliable. I remember one time the bus broke down in a tunnel, and I ended up walking several miles to the BART line. By then I had a smart phone so I could navigate with the map app. These days wild horses couldn't get me to go there.

The latest Facebook Marketplace idiot wants to know how much firewood it would take to fill up their Toyota Tacoma. No clue as to what size bed or how much the suspension would take, so all I could do was tell them to read the ad for pallet size and weight and figure it out themselves.

Not to be outdone, there's the guy that didn't buy the Holsclaw motorcycle trailer I have for sale, but wants me to tell him where I purchased the tires and shocks on it so he can replace the ones on the trailer he bought from someone else. It's a scary idea that these people probably vote, too.

Gotta get the trailer parked and unhitched from the van today, and maybe wash the Camry before I move it over there, too. Maybe use it to run an errand or two first. Lots of "opportunities" to work on when I get back; choices, choices.

89 going to 93 with rain perhaps starting early evening

Picked up groceries and worked a little on the mower

Worked for a year in SF in the early 70's. Loved it and lots of fun back in those days. It was the only place where I could take the ferry to work from Marin county to the dock just down from Beale street where the office was. Rented a 3 bedroom house in Marin county for 340 dollars a month
