my memory was Advent speakers came out as competitors to AR and KLH and Infinity.
and had excellent bass for their size, which took a fair amount of power to drive.
But most receivers today have power to drive just about anything until you go high end.
If the AR 3A was too expensive, and they definitely were power hogs, the Advents were a good alternative.
I can't crank up the music very loud but my little Klipsch speakers have those horns about three feet from my head
and I am very pleased with the sound. They are good self amplified speakers, a little warm and colored, but exceptionally open.
Helped by a Klipsch 10" powered sub on the floor under my desk.
all connected by USB to computer.
I can add a turntable to this setup also. There's so much online that's free.
and lots of sites touting audiophile music streaming so the source material is much better.
I have fun once in a while with a low frequency sweep.
How low can you go....
5, 10, 15hz still quiet
maybe under a 20 hz bandpass filter?
20hz something is vibrating
25hz the room and desk start to shake
30 hz glad I have no neighbors
35 hz now that's a thump
etc
sad part is doing the high frequency sweeps and finding out how
much hearing I've lost
