Mornin! Looks to be a beautiful day in upstate NY
Hopefully we dry out a bit before this coming weeks rain starts Monday, passed through your neck of the woods Friday on the way to and from Empire Farm Days, your not very far from me.

The main thing about stacking so high is to make sure there is a lean into the wall so when the bottom rows dry out and change position it will not cause it to topple. Lessons learned

I hope so too. You know it's wet when the front wheels on a zero turn start leaving marks in the grass! How was Empire Farm Days? You shoulda stopped in for a meet n greet!

65 outside this AM, may touch 90 today with tStorms expected later.

Looks like the US Women just lost. Wow. Expectations were a lot higher.

ZTR clutch went out yesterday after maybe 15 minutes. Not a happy camper, dealer was closed. Will have to address tomorrow. Disappointed for sure. Checked wiring, looks like new. Not sure what could be going on. Same sympton as last time, cut off in while mowing.

Got the push mower out for around the house. Have not done that in years. Lucky, still in shape. LOL.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe.

For stacking I use the RTV as a platform to stand on and taking the wood from the front end loader lifted to the right height. For taking it off the stack again use the RTV and standing on the back gate load the wood pieces into the load bed essentially just by letting them fall into the load bed. I keep the RTV close to the house in a garage shed so it is easy to grab the wood as needed
my suggestion as you/we age...if you fall doing this you are really going to hurt yourself.

having said that, looking at that wall of wood is marvelous. As a child my brothers and I had to help father do seven cords
of wood from our fallen trees. 70 acres of woods, no shortage of firewood, and we had two separate trails back into the woods that the
old JD B and our wooden wagon would go. And be able to turnaround...
So I look at all that firewood and am very impressed.

running a log splitter is one of my most favorite jobs. You get to smell the wood as it cracks apart, red oak is sure different than cedar.
worst wood I ever dealt with, thankfully only as a kid, was a locust tree that blew over. And all we had were metal wedges and a sledge.
Wow is that stuff hard and tough. Now with a log splitter it's easy, but fun to watch the power of the splitter overcome
the serious strength of the wood. Bang. Pop. Crack

if one has a tractor and FEL/front forks, seems palletizing wood makes a lot of sense.

I always wanted a giant dog door on the wall near the fireplace, where a tracked cart full of firewood could come in and roll up to the hearth.
Always the challenge of dropping crap on floors and bringing in bugs, cart with a top on it was high on my invention list.
not to be.

not sure about cost but seems pellet wood stoves are simply a better idea. Certainly adds a lot of processing to the same wood..., but the lack of
mess keeps wives happy.
In an emergency, can you burn small log wood in a pellet stove?

and they went into overtime too, big rivalry with Sweden.
US has been on top for a long time, women's soccer very strong, but sport played
everywhere and lots of other good teams out there.

soccer was the only game I could/did play with any talent. And not much of that.
but just being on a team has its benefits, learning team play

You are right have to be careful but standing on a platform is better than balancing on a ladder. We use a giant antique copper tub for wood storage inside the house. It holds enough for a day or two and keeps the mess contained. We have a lot of Locust trees that are getting to the point of being ready for firewood or use as wood poles. Locust trees are to be thinned out anyway to make more room for the more desirable trees

70 going to 91, maybe some rain. Pretty muggy outside.

Kyle, a BIG Happy Birthday to your mom! I bet she really enjoyed your visit and opportunity to tell you another family story.

BEF, sounds like you were beginning to make vodka from those potatoes.

PJ, nice family of dogs. You two are angels.

Kil, looks like a nice time in Franklin, even a welcome sign for Thru-hikers. Did the band play any Teddy Ruxpin songs?

Buppies, nice new mower. Now to keep that tall grass cut to size.

I mowed mine yesterday for a couple of hours...didn't finish it, but it finished me...I had already run down the battery to zero on the string trimmer.

I ran the generator for a bit yesterday...routine, to get it ready for potential storm related power outages. I have not been able to find a replacement battery of the same size after a bit of searching last year, so just pull start it...pretty quick starting up on LP.

Only problem in using the generator (which has thankfully been very rare) is getting it out of the toolshed. The shed is old, built with full dimension rough cut lumber...well built, but the threshhold is a climb over the cinder block and 2x8 plate, so have to use car ramps on both sides to get it over, and it feels like it weighs a ton (and it gets heavier each time I have to move it 😁 ).

Sounds good except it was a bit too early when I was headed out and I was whipped and dragging coming back through.
Empire Farm Days was decent it is not what it used to be 5-10 years ago. They changed locations and sponsors and it's still having growing pains but it is a decent show.
Yes I got a 40 x 80 foot chunk of my lawn that I didn't mow last time becuse I wasn't sure the 4wd F2000 would make it or get stuck and we have gotten over 2 inchs of rain since I mowed last Monday. My nephew has several acres of hay he put down mid week when the forecast was for dry Wednesday, Thursday and Friday so it's gotten wet and had to be tedded out so he's going to be chopping and/or silage baleing today. I always disliked doing field work on Sundays it always seemed like something would go wrong.

Scootr, your car is a beauty. I'd probably like the Buick edition, cushy ride and soft seats.:ROFLMAO:

Looks like It is going to be nice today but it looks like rain in the forecast for next week. Thank goodness for the internet. Remember puzzles and cards and stir crazy?

Take care.

Chris
